Perhaps in the very distant future altcoin will be able to beat bitcoin, but now bitcoin is the strongest crypto currency and is in the first place and in the near future is not going to become in second place.

Maybe not in the "distant" future. I think some alt coin with very good product that reaches mainstream public can catch up on bitcoin. We are still in early phase of cryptoworld. This stuff is going to dominate many aspects of our lives wooo   Grin

I don't think altcoins have chance to beat Bitcoin. There must be something very drastic for people to stop using bitcoin or taking bitcoin is another alt I suppose.

In the near future seems like impossible future which is what we are having now. I am sure in the last five years, discussion like this would have surfaced and it would be suggested that in the next five years which is now Alt coin will meet up but unfortunately, the discussion is still being done again with no end in sight to that but hopefully the coming ones can live to the future.

If it were to happen ever it would have happened by now. Despite bitcoin scaling problem the increase in the number of bitcoin users and supporters has been unstoppable. The acceptance, support and popularity in the context of altcoins is almost negligible compared to bitcoin and as someone already said if altcoins stood any chance against bitcoin then why would we convert the former to latter, it's so only because bitcoin still has supremacy over altcoins and it's more accepted and has more support than altcoins which seems to stay there for long so anything like altcoins replacing bitcoin in the near future is just a pure speculation which seems far from happening in the near future.

I don't see alts replacing btc at any point. But they will definitely go on sharing the market. Alts present a welcome alternative, it's always a good opportunity to speculate on both alts and btc

Jeez, the only upside of bitcoin is that its old. Look at tx time (realistically 2 blocks, or 20 minutes). Look at tx price - 40 cents on average (and constantly growing, mostly due to mining reward halving). Can you imagine people at the register waiting 20 minutes and paying nearly 1 dollar to buy a 2-dollar doughnut?

Ether or LTC or RIpple will definitely outpace BTC in 5-10 years.

Bitcoin is too big right now for the alt to have any chance. In technology department maybe some alt is better than bitcoin but people still prefer bitcoin because it's the face of crypto right now. I don't see alt having chance againts bitcoin at all.

I have been seeing Bitcoins' price rising with a stability in its growth, but due to the higher mining fee that is being levied on transactions these days, big businesses are now moving their funds towards alts and taking advantage with their least fees as well as shaping a completely new economy in the trends of altcoin markets. Do you think this may harm Bitcoin's dignity and open up a chance in real for alts to rise?
Chance to replace Bitcoin as the most demanded cryptocurrency for a long period of time? Yes, it is possible. All cryptocurrency depends on the market's demand so there's a chance that someday, an alt coin will rise that'll capture the demand and interest of the people. Bitcoin just remained the no. 1 cryptocurrency for the reason that it has bigger community compared to other cryptos.

At the moment I really can't see any altcoin that could be competition for Bitcoins. There are some good altcoins worth investing, like ETH, but none of them can't come close to Bitcoin, it's just too strong. With time I think that this difference will become even bigger and altcoins will remain in the shadow of Bitcoin no matter to all attempts to become equal or even better.

It seems to me that in the war against bitcoin at any bitcoin there is no chance. So they will never fight. They will exist in parallel. There are also different countries and different currencies. Periodically to make money with Alt coins is cheaper than using bitcoin, but the basic tools are all stored in bitcoins. It is more reliable.

Dobt think that any altcoin will have chance to reach close or near to bitcoin in any time. That way they are called altcoin. Bitcoin is and will be only one that matter when everything is putted together in any possible way no matter how market is developed or changed in any possible way. There will be always talks and possible rumors that some alt might come close but that will remain only on talks and rumors.

Yeah, I am having a vision of this everytime. Bitcoin will not be staying at the top but wil be overcomed by a lot more altcoins in the future. Litecoin for example, it is the lite version of bitcoin and offers a.good type of fees amd transactions. Bitcoin is just at the top because it is the first one to release and it is the original digital currency.

Guys, here I completely agree with you, because for daily use Bitcoin in real life will not work due to some features, including the so-called commission. The fact is that the little things that we buy with ease with a credit card, Bitcoin will not be able to replace.

I do not know much about it but I heard Altcoin probably did not achieve the popularity of bitcoin that would be the same. Without Crypto / Blockchain blog news, I rarely see all the articles published in altcoins. So your question has been answered by me.
No digital currency stands any chance against the mother of crypto currencies, bitcoins. Altcoins has not shown any progress recently while bitcoin is already worth 4k dollars plus. Comparing altcoins with BTC is like insulting Bitcoins. Don’t be this much disrespectful. I have heard that altcoins are rather declining.

Yes, but if you look on a total market cap of all cryptos, back in 2015 bitcoin had a 80-90% of total market cap of all cryptos. At the moment it is only has 50% and in the future it will have even less, everything can change someday and the king will fall down from his throne Wink

there are a lot of altcoins with huge potential like ETH, XRP, LTC, DASH, etc but they don't have chances against Bitcoin in the near future, it will need very long time to replace bitcoin, we can't predict it what will happen in the future.

Investing in bitcoin is the safer option, but the growth in the altcoin market has been rapid . A few alts have grown more than a thousand percent in a few months. This kind of profits are accompanied by very big risk.

I do not think there is competition at the moment as the Bitcoin is sweeping the market undisputed. These currencies need strong support to be competitive.
