There are plenty of alts that have great potential and are great for what they were designed for but it will be a long time before something revolutionizes as Bitcoin did. There's not that spark of origin with alt coins

It takes a long time if alt can beat Bitcoin even though they have great potential to be a good coin. Wink

Really interesting to see what alts do if bitcoin ascends to the next level.

People expecting alts to automatically do the same are delusional.

They can't continue moving in step swinging back and forth for eternity.

At some point they diverge for good.

Bitcoin will always be the top cryptocurrency, alternatives are just copies of it or scamcoins. No altcoin will ever get past Bitcoin, even if it has some problems right now, but the problems will be fixed soon enough. No large company that accepts Bitcoin will ever accept some altcoin.

I think so too, it is not just about bitcoin's value that makes it on top but also its system that provides quality and assurance to its users and investors alike. Bitcoin would remain on top among other alt coins as long as its features remain as a model for an online currency.

I definitely see some altcoins overcoming Bitcoin in the future. Bitcoin blockchain is too slow and is too costly for mainstream adoption. There are some alts that provide better solutions for mass adoption, but these have to prove themselves effectively and this will take time.

I have been seeing Bitcoins' price rising with a stability in its growth, but due to the higher mining fee that is being levied on transactions these days, big businesses are now moving their funds towards alts and taking advantage with their least fees as well as shaping a completely new economy in the trends of altcoin markets. Do you think this may harm Bitcoin's dignity and open up a chance in real for alts to rise?
I dont think alts can be a rival in value to bitcoin. They may have the potential rising in value but i dont think it can defeat bitcoin’s value. Bitcoin has gone too far already to be reached by other altcoins.

Yeah i agree.
But it depends on what you look at. Value per coin might not be surpassed.
But in terms of stability, transactiosn speed, anonymity there are other players at hand Smiley

Ethereum has a good chance to compete with bitcoin but it will not replace it because simply it cannot replace it.
Bitcoin supporters are very big, it was recognize as the father of all coins so when a certain altcoins will be popular, bitcoin popularity will also increase.

No, altcoins are created as substiture for bitcoin but not replacement. Because of the excellent performance of the company and management of the bitcoin they become successful in field of electronic banking; through this they cannot be beaten by other altcoin in this industry.

I don't think very many alts have a chance of success, but it depends on what you define as success. If you buy them to one day increase your Bitcoins then this is maybe a failure. If you use them to invest or for POS then maybe there can be some gains. In the long term I dont think they will increase in Bitcoin Value so its best to buy them with $USD. In that way I believe you will have a lot of success.

es having a chance to compete with bitcoin any alts can do that but for telling that replacing it it is not or never been happen cause that was right the supporters of bitcoin are too many so this may not be happen to replace it.

Maybe after bitcoin is not famous anymore, then it will be the time that an alternate coin could surpass bitcoin. Bitcoin is hard to go against since it is the root of all alternate coins we see in this forum, altcoin section. Give alternate coins a time and it maybe goes higher that bitcoin.

the idea of cryptocurrency is very interesting and maybe some altcoin will be better than bitcoin, but there is no such probability at the moment

Oh, this is already in progress. We are a victim of our success with the price. These price levels are great for the wallet, but growth like this is harming us with with being unsustainable, and with the effect on the fees. The congestion in these times (price spikes with a lot of media coverage) exacerbate the fee situation even further, making folks compete with increasingly higher bids for fees.

ETH is poised to take the "practical economy" away from BTC, in my opinion. Lower fees, much faster, and the ERC token economy is fostering an amazing amount of adoption on that chain.

We need to innovate, or fall behind.

I don't find anything relative to grow high against bitcoin. I believe that altcoins will continue to grow along with bitcoin. Alts will be continuing to serve as an trading token as bitcoin was used in the earlier days. Later got more marketplace acceptance for bitcoin, in similar manner altcoins might grow in the future.

Bitcoin needs too much electricity. I hope more efficient alts take over bitcoin.
It make for a nice excuse for Japanese government to put nuclear plants back to work.

I think no other alt coins can against bitcoin unless there is major security fraud.

Basically, the price of all other coins are going in the same direction as bitcoin. However, the performance of the major alt coin (e.g. ETH and LTC) will continue outperform bitcoin base on the trend this year

There is a huge numbers of users using and heavily trading bitcoins daily, Ethereum is a good choice as an altcoin but I don't see it taking over the place of bitcoin at the moment unless there is a huge switch of bitcoin users going into Ethereum suddenly.

It is the origin of all crypto and no one can beat the original and because of its reputation and popularity. Some altcoins are being compared to bitcoin wherein they are saying that it can replace bitcoin lets face the reality that it will not happen. ETH will be the next BTC it may not go up to same level but for sure it will remain the second of all.

General answer No

most of altcoins have no chance But BCH have a chance (it is against bitcoin from now ), ETH will be against in future (3-5 years).

LTC & DASH will be after (10-12 years) others No.

Woah! Hold your horses mate. What's up with the 'company and management of the Bitcoin' phrase right there. What are you even saying, Bitcoin is decentralized, no one controls it. And for what its worth, Altcoins are not substitutes, they are as the same level as Bitcoin, but it turned out that Bitcoin have been the very first of the Cryptocurrencies, so it has been known ever since. And by that, it started to gain its reputation and now its price is as crazy a buffoon.
