The Saudi investment approach to the sports industry is truly commendable. I don't think they're throwing money away without getting a return - even we just don't know how they'll profit from their investment in football. But what do we care - they can do it because of their financial power, profit and loss are consequences, but in the end they managed to bring more interest to modern football.

I've never judged the approach of some wealthy Saudis to the sports industry. They have the financial power to make football better and more attractive in their country - and then earn profit from it in various ways, including selling team kits and other such things.

I saw this comment and remembered Russia, China and Japan similar approach few years back, they did the same thing the Saudi are doing now but it was way better cause at least they were filling stadiums and getting broadcasting rights in Europe.

They threw money around buying the older legends from European clubs and paying them big wages trying to promote their football leagues in hope of bidding for FIFA World Cup. Russia was successful but China and Japan clubs went bankrupt few years later and started releasing players out of contracts and their FIFA World Cup bids were unsuccessful.

Money is part of the business if not, the wealthy clubs will take over the football industry. This is why you see that wealthy investors are the ones buying football clubs currently, because money changes everything. This is the mindset of the Saudis but they forget that their league is not yet mature enough and lack the quality because they are not football freaks from onset. They just started having interest in football. Young Europe players will find it difficult playing outside Europe.
Yeah, money is the real deal and funny enough they've got more than enough of it presently that they don't even know what to do with it other than throw it around here and there. Yeah, it's true when you said they just started having interest in football not too long ago. Just watch their league and see how the stadiums are mostly empty, that's because football is not their thing. They are just trying to show interest in the game because it's football that brings the world together.
I think they're very astute businesspeople, and history has shown this. We can even see how wealthy they are. And they saw that there was a real opportunity in football, so they started investing heavily in it. But the country isn't just investing heavily in football; they're also investing heavily in other sports. And while most stadiums there don't always attract large crowds, football has always been a passion for the people there. They've only started investing more seriously since there was a slight change in power or something. Clearly, this has something to do with the current power holders. Some policies have even changed, becoming more flexible and less restrictive. As a result, foreign tourists are now attracted to the country.
In his opinion, Saudi Arabia's support for football is a great thing. The teams have now reached a point where they are enhancing the country's image. Every player in Europe can travel to Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, teams from many countries around the world play their respective cup finals in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia has become a center of attraction in this regard as well. I think it was a very smart move for Saudi Arabia to make the most logical move and use football for tourism.

Roma sign a Brazilian potential player from Flamengo.

It's worthy deal, he's still 21 years old and Roma only spent 25 Million Euros, unlike other Europe teams who spent more than 30 Million Euros when their market value aren't even reach half from the fees.

I think Gasperini want to build Roma from young generation, in the next 2-3 years we would see the results.

It's obvious that they do all this, the fact that they can do whatever they want attracts people to do things that are forbidden or impossible to do in their country, in fact all the strongest teams are now in the hands of the Arabs, but this doesn't necessarily mean that things are wrong, there are clubs that win after many years, so it's not really wrong, surely the fans will be happy

What's to lose now? His career is hampered already. At 25 no top club is looking to sign him again to the extent that he was thinking of going back to Benfica. He caused it all, he was given a second chance by Chelsea after he couldn't make it in Barcelona but he chose to blow it again with his nonchalant style of play. He is still a good player but the way he plays is why no team wants him anymore so I think Al Nassr even saved his dying career with this move. It's a good move, the deal is sealed already and he is already with the team in their pre season camp I just hope the manager and fans are pleased with his style of play.

This is football; there is something that must be sacrificed to obtain the best place. When in Europe, Felix may find it difficult to adapt to the team and adjust, which prevents him from performing better. At his current age, he should be very capable of playing at the top level in Europe, but his statistics do not support that. Perhaps financial issues are also a major factor, preventing him from wanting to rebuild his career with a smaller European team and improve his performance. At his current age, it is not too late; he still has plenty of time. Furthermore, since Felix is officially joining An Nasr, this might also be one of Ronaldo's roles. There is a possibility he could return to Europe if he manages to improve his performance.

The deal is done by Manchester City finally for 27 million pounds (~31 million euros).

It is a big blood loss for Burnley though.  Tongue  He had a spectacular clean sheet performance last season. They needed him more than ever in the Premier League.

Now I wonder where Ederson will go. Clearly Trafford has been signed for the starting lineup. For Ederson, the current options are said to be Galatasaray and Saudi Arabia.

Apparently, Ten Hag has decided to sell the players who joined Bayer while Xabi Alonso was still there.
Sunderland seems to have already spent £100 million on transfers and apparently decided to seriously strengthen the team this season after entering the EPL. Granit Xhaka played well at Arsenal and was even captain, and he has vast experience playing in the EPL, so this is an excellent deal for Sunderland.
I understand the smart move from Sunderland FC. Unlike other teams that got promoted into the EPL got relegated back to the Championship by the end of the season two seasons again, but Sunderland on the other hand wants to avoid that to repeat again. That is the main reason why they went for a player with solid EPL experience. Someone who knows the pressure to fight in football especially in the EPL. And again, Xhaka reportedly showed interest in returning to the EPL, the deal has benefited both the player and the club.

A great deal for sure. Wesley is good in defending. He also has pace and good physic. The only problem is that is very weak when crossing, and need to be trained more. I hope Gasperini can unlock his potential to be the best RB in serie a.
It also sounds easy to flip the money from him in the future. I like this transfer by Gasperini. We can see him to be rotated with Rensch in RB position.

He will become a complete RB as long as he can fix his weakness at crossing. That's the key point.

Yes, as a defender, Wesley Franca is quite talented and has been a mainstay for Flamengo in the previous two seasons. Apart from that, when attacking, he can also be relied on because he has running speed. AS Roma is quite lucky to be able to add Wesley to the squad this season at a relatively cheap price but has the potential to be a successful investment in the future considering he is still very young.

We all know every player has their decisions to make especially if they want to change club or maybe renew their contract with the club and we have been hearing and reading news of Alexander Isak making plans to leave Newcastle. The manager Eddie Howe has been on the positive side about Isak's condition at the club for him to stay and he hope he'd continue to play for Newcastle come next season but still Eddie Howe can't decide for the player... Liverpool has already made a big move for the player, does this mean that Alexander Isak has finally decided to join the Reds? Because as far as I know is not yet official that he has joined Liverpool, but can it be that it will happen anytime soon?

Roma sign a Brazilian potential player from Flamengo.

It's worthy deal, he's still 21 years old and Roma only spent 25 Million Euros, unlike other Europe teams who spent more than 30 Million Euros when their market value aren't even reach half from the fees.

I think Gasperini want to build Roma from young generation, in the next 2-3 years we would see the results.

I don't think Roma is ready to wait for results from Gasperini for 2-3 years, they change coaches very quickly if something doesn't go according to their expectations. And since Gasperini loves attacking football, it is not surprising that he is targeting Brazilian footballers, even if Wesley is a defender, he will be targeting attacking play. But with the attack, things are not so clear yet, it looks like Roma will sell Dovbyk, Besiktas wants to buy him, and by the way, I did not see Dybala either on the field or on the bench in the last match, who knows what the reason for his absence is?

A great deal for sure. Wesley is good in defending. He also has pace and good physic. The only problem is that is very weak when crossing, and need to be trained more. I hope Gasperini can unlock his potential to be the best RB in serie a.
It also sounds easy to flip the money from him in the future. I like this transfer by Gasperini. We can see him to be rotated with Rensch in RB position.

He will become a complete RB as long as he can fix his weakness at crossing. That's the key point.
Gian Piero Gasperini is building a solid team, and he is gathering some quality players. The club has already signed Lens midfielder Neil El Aynaoui and Brighton loanee Evan Ferguson. Wesley helped Flamengo win the Copa Libertadores three years ago, and he was in the club's squad in the just concluded FIFA Club World Cup. He is young and I think Roma would reap from the money they spent on the Brazilian. Gasperini has been able to develop young players, and I hope he will help Wesley overcome his weaknesses.

Joao Felix is near to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr.
The final decision will be taken in the next 48 hours according to Fabrizio Romano.

The price should be around 35m€, IMHO.
Saudi League at the moment is the second league for money invested this summer after Premier League.

Everyone wants the bag these days, saying yes to Saudi club after they outbid his boyhood club Benfica to bring him back to Portugal is crazy. It's quite obvious nobody cares about football loyalty these days. I honestly feel bad for Benfica but honestly they can't compete and Chelsea needed the money.

If ad ons are included, it takes the deal to around €50m total package which is quite a profit for Chelsea and heavy wages for Felix
I don't think it was money alone that made Joao Felix move to Al Nassr because Benfica was on the verge of signing Joao Felix from Chelsea, but Cristiano Ronaldo's phone call and the deal Al Nassr offered to Joao Felix stopped Benfica from signing Joao Felix from Chelsea. There are a lot of young players that turned down a move to the Saudi Pro League, so I believe there are players that still want to play for the passion of the game.

I think Gasperini is making a very logical move by wanting to build a young squad. Young squads are typically comprised of players who have become well-versed within a year or two. Therefore, one of the key factors for Roma to achieve the success they desire is rejuvenating the squad. The Brazilian center-back is one of the players who will meet this need. If Roma succeeds with this transfer, they could make a substantial profit even if they win the title. After all, they could sell a young player to a much bigger European team for a very high fee.

They are not wasting any money anywhere. Investing into the sports sector has the ability to attract people from other aspect of life to become interested in Thier countries economy and that's why they have dimed it fit not to be left out regarding using thier money to promote sports in Thier nation.

Diversification is one way that helps a nation remain relevant in her economy and before now, anything Saudi was just all about money but now, it's now a footballing part of the world because of the football stars that keeps joining the Saudi league which has contributed to it growth and relevance.

On the positive side, the SPL continues to attract attention for offering a decent place and salary for players from Europe, this is also inseparable from the negative stigma that is always used as a reason to play there only for money. But I try to put that aside and see that in fact Saudi Arabian clubs have been able to give European teams a tough fight several times during the club world cup competition.

So Saudi Arabia will not stop here to continue developing their image in the world of soccer.

I like Gyökeres, but I'm still not sure he's a player who can compete in the Premier League, especially Arsenal. While Portuguese league defenses tend to be quite spaced out, the PL isn't. The Premier League is the exact opposite. Gyökeres's key is his shooting, which requires him to create shots much quicker in the PL; he needs to be fast, otherwise he'll be blocked too easily and won't be able to maintain his place in the PL.

Honestly I agree with you, we know Gyokeres has the ability but the competition in the Premier League is different from the Portugal league I'm a bit worried he's a bit hampered. If you remember when Liverpool bought in Nunez with high expectations but the performance is not very impressive even though previously he was the top scorer in the Portugal League, well this could happen to Gyokeres, right? I hope he can do his best and give something to Arsenal.

By the way, Gyokeres transfer fee is around 65 million and previously it was rumored that Sporting was aiming for 90 million maybe there are additions on the agreement? if it's only 65 million there should be a lot of clubs interested in him.

that's exactly the mystery behind football, when the player is no more comfortable they tend to look elsewhere for better options and that's what Leroy Sane did when he opted to leave Bayern Munich for another club, perhaps he wasn't comfortable with what the club is offering in terms of wages and salaries and have gotten a better option with another club which might be the reasons for his decision for requesting to leave the team.

He is a decent player and should actually not be with Galatasaray since I feel he’s good enough to at least still be in one of Europe’s top leagues if not the Bundesliga and not with Bayern Munich. Nevertheless, the decision has been taken, and he is a Galatasaray player now. I hope he can do better for Galatasaray so that they have a very sharp attacking line to work with, especially with the presence of Victor Osimhen, who is the spearhead of their attack..
Galatasaray may be not seem like the best place for Victor Osimhen to have found himself comparing to his quality as  a top striker. But we have to understand that if not for Galatasaray he wouldn't have been anywhere in Europe right now but in the Saudi league because it was both the Saudi side and Galatasaray that were serious bidding for him.  Now he has been fully made the club's player he will most definitely do better next season than he did for the club while on loan, let me rest assured on that.

I completely agree with you that teams now understand that money is everything in modern football and that you can't achieve serious success without spending big. Take Girona, for example, which surprised everyone one season, only to sell its key players the following season and nearly get relegated from La Liga. Of course, there are examples of teams buying many expensive players but not achieving any results, such as Tottenham last season, but this is rather an exception and more often than not, teams are relegated precisely because of a lack of funding.
Xhaka is an excellent player, and for £20 million, Sunderland was lucky that he agreed to move there. Now we will wait for the next season at Bayer to see how he does, but Xhaka probably realized that his chances of success were slim when he decided to move to Sunderland.

I think Sunderland have made a good speculation. Granit Xhaka may not be young anymore, but he has a lot of experience and also has good leadership skills when he is on the pitch, so he can be a role model for the young Sunderland players. Apart from that, the advantage of buying old players is that they are no longer expensive, and their presence can boost the team's morale as a whole.

It's a shame Sunderland no longer have Jobe Bellingham in midfield, as he could have been a great partner for Xhaka. It was quite a surprise to see Ten Hag let Granit Xhaka go and frankly, I'm curious whether Ten Hag's decision is correct, because Xhaka is one of Leverkusen's key players and he has also made quite a big contribution.
