Based on what statistics was this player signed from relegated West Ham? He recorded 4 goals and 4 assists last season.
85 million euros is an excessive amount for this player.
Besides, Tottenham also signed Tonali.
You don't have a striker left in the squad after Kane's departure. Tottenham is unnecessarily driving up market prices to extreme levels. I think they will suffer a huge loss if they don't get the expected return from M. Fernandes.

I am also thinking the same  after seeing the news. We know that Tottenham management is very conscious about spending  money. They do not buy players by  spending a huge amount of money. So I did not think Tottenham would spend such a huge amount for  a player like Fernandes. I would not be surprised at all if this deal was with Chelsea. He scored only  3 goals and assisted only  4 in the premier league last season. I cannot call it a good performance.

I really struggle to understand how a club with limited finances like Milan chose to spend 70-80 million euros for a striker like Gonçalo Ramos. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he is not good but he's not great either. He is a decent player and during his years at PSG his numbers were kind of mediocre. For a player like him I wouldn't have spent more than 40 millions.

I confess I was shocked by this signing; it makes no sense. Last season in Ligue 1, Gonçalo Ramos only played 11 games, which is very little, considering Ligue 1 had a total of 34 games. He spent most of those games on the bench and only scored 2 goals. What did Milan see in him? I honestly can't understand it. It seems to me that Milan doesn't have anyone experienced in the area of new signings. A club that spends money on a player who only played 11 games in the entire season and only scored 2 goals, then this club is not doing well. Milan's management should focus on hiring specialists to evaluate players during the transfer window.
It is extremely hard to assess that spend most of their time on the bench, but these big clubs like Milan would not buy him for that much if they didn't something that we can't see here. They have scouting departments that I think have a more detailed overview of players then we forum people here. Smiley Ramos is not a bad player and the fact that he couldn't play more matches is not per se a big problem. The truth is that hardly anybody would have a safe place in the first team of PSG. If he is a player who would benefit from playing full matches, it could change for the better quickly. Not every player is made for coming from the bench and being at 100% within a blink of an eye. I think it is an interesting transfer, but I agree it carries a lot of risk.
Did you see the last players Milan bought? Everybody was a disaster. So, no, I don't think they "see something we don't", I actually think the scouts are blind or maybe they watch the games with the television off, that could explain it. PSG don't need a lot of effort to win the Ligue, Ramos barely played even in that second-tier league. That is quite concerning in my opinion. For a player paid 70 millions I expect him to score 18-20 goals in Serie A. We'll see.

I rather find Tottenham's aggressive purchase of players in this transfer market very interesting considering what transpired at the club in the last two seasons, this is the second time they are escaping relegation in a row and all these struggles were bound to happen as a result of a weak team that couldn't compete adequately.
It's a good thing that they have finally come to the realisation of how much they need to strengthen their squad and are taking the necessary steps towards achieving it irrespective of the finances involved.

The player can't decide his future by his own when he's still under contract. He has his contract will be last until 2028. So it's PSG who will able to decide his future. Even if he's refusing to play, it won't impact PSG because PSG has proper player to replace him.

This is why i see no reason for him to feel upset. He can still contribute to PSG, and keep playing in UCL in any season to develop himself.
The price tag on these players is getting pretty much. It seems these players are worth more than what we think to the club selling them out. If at €100m, PSG is still letting you know that it's too small for them to release Barcola. If I was Barcola, I will wait till my contract is due before leaving the club. What next does all these players need after winning the Champions League with PSG. They want to move to a club that is not certain of winning UCL next season.
I've always complained about the price tag of some players, Barcola is good no doubt but the selling price tag most of this club try to put for some of their players is outrageous, it is making it look as if this is some kind of money laundering scheme that is been done in front of our eyes 👀. PSG are very wise, they will have to give you another contract to sign before your contract expires, sometimes they might even increase your wage on the new contract, making it very tempting for you not to accept a renewal.

The amount of money Tottenham paid for Fernandez is definitely high, especially for a player that was relegated, but I don't think they are the once driving up market prices. The market is already inflated, so no club wants to let their player go on the cheap, especially English teams, so they just have to pay that high since they really want the player and I really don't blame them. Tottenham was in the relegation battle until the last day of the just concluded season, so I think they don't want to be in such situation in the upcoming season,  so they are trying to improve their squad and that will definitely cost them a huge sum of money, especially with the inflated market right now.

It's nice to hear that Oliver Glasner isn't leaving the Premier League.  Smiley  He is a really capable manager... We have all seen what he has done with Crystal Palace.

He won trophies including the Conference League one with an average team from this league. I think he can resurrect Forest as well. Their squad is even stronger I believe.

By the way Tottenham is very active in the market! Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali are the recent signings. As far as I know they spent more than 200 million euros in total for them.

Tottenham Hotspur has shown that they're ambitious. I'm truly keen to see what De Zebri plans to do with that squad depth in his possession. They have not shown any sign slowing down. They have learned enough lessons as they almost got relegated.

As for Oliver Glasner, he is tested and approved and we're sure that he'll have them competitive next season just as he did with Crystal Palace. Maybe he will be the new person to win Nottingham Forest another European trophy after a very long time.

Tottenham are spending big lately to be honest,  last season the amounts they were ready to spend and what they spend was big and this season they are recruiting more, hopefully they have a better balance and smaller injury woesx in order to compete.

Looking at the squad or manager last season I can't say all were bad but unfortunate and the management were still the one at fault since they failed to do what they ought to earlier.

Over the last 2 seasons, Spurs have gone through a major drop in form for several reasons, and one of the biggest was their lack of squad depth. They were hit by a lot of injuries, and the backup players just weren't able to maintain the team's level of performance, which eventually led to a really disappointing run. That's why it makes perfect sense to me that Tottenham are being so aggressive in the transfer market right now. It's a clear sign that the club's management has started to recognize and fix one of their biggest weaknesses

I’m also surprised by the current transfer fees for players. Maybe inflation isn’t just happening in the market for basic necessities but also in the player transfer market.  Grin

And if you take a closer look at the players on the transfer market right now, you’ll find quite a few who are being priced very high even though they’re actually players I consider just average.  Well, they’re good, but they’re not in the same level as Osimhen, Mbappé, Vini Jr., or others who deserve such high price tags. But I don’t think the players who are priced so high right now are worth the money. Or maybe it’s just because the currency has lost value, so a large number doesn’t actually mean much.  Grin

Inflation is likely a factor, but the Premier League is certainly the primary driver. Teams there have no problem spending large sums of money on players with mediocre stats. Selling players at such high prices would be detrimental to other leagues, as the revenue gap is clearly stark. For example, Burnley, despite being relegated, earned significantly more than the La Liga champions. I have no problem saying that the transfer market is in disarray due to the current player prices.

Other leagues will increasingly lag behind the Premier League.

Fernandes.

I also think that the price is too much for a midfielder like him because the transfer value is only around €50 million, while Tottenham raised it higher just to bring in a midfielder like this. even Man United, Arsenal and Real Madrid have withdrawn to hunt down the midfielder because the price is no longer reasonable, only Tottenham want to redeem the player for that price.. hopefully this decision is the right decision because if he is unable to develop into a truly proper and consistent midfielder, then Tottenham will only pour wasteful funds on this player.

But lately, I feel like all the players on the transfer market are becoming too expensive. Although I understand that Tottenham is  really eager to improve their squad depth so they can perform better in the upcoming season, the players they’ve signed do seem to be costing too much.

They signed Mateus Fernandes for 85 million euros, and Tottenham has also reached an agreement with Newcastle to sign Sandro Tonali for 100 million euros (92.5 million euros + a 7.5 million euro bonus). I feel like they’re rushing into deals without engaging in more rigorous negotiations. Or maybe they really wanted these two players that badly.

But the rise in player prices in this transfer window isn’t limited to the Premier League. The same thing is happening in La Liga as well. For example, Atlético Madrid has set J. Álvarez’s price at a level that’s simply too high.

Tonali didn't have a very good season last year. Tottenham also had a very bad season last year. This year they want to improve their defense and midfield. Therefore, paying a lot of money for Tonali won't be a problem for them. Of course, Tottenham will continue to fight and will want to be in the top six again next year. To do that, they need to spend a lot of money this year, and they will.

This Fernandez, Tonali, and Ederson, transfer saga is really pissing me off, everyone knows the kind of struggle Manchester United was facing in recent seasons, they even ended 14th in the league table, and when all thinks no player would want to play for them, then the likes of, Cunha, Mbuemo, and Benjamin Sesko , stood out to play for the club, like they literally rejected offer from other good clubs for Manchester United, now these players has done their best to bring back Manchester United to the UEFA Champions League competition, and people now expect them to bring in players that wants to earn higher than this players, I really like how Manchester United handled the situation, they can only sign players whom are willing to play for the barge and not for the money, they made that mistake on Sancho, Anthony etc, and wouldn't want to continue with that mistake again and I love it that way.

Tottenham came close to being relegated , and I think that’s why they’re now taking precautions by bringing in a number of new players to strengthen their squad, so that they can return to the top next season. But unfortunately, they did it rather hastily , so that instead of making thorough preparations, they chose to take aggressive action. Mateus Fernandes may well be considered a talented player , and quite a few people reckon he’ll turn out to be like Declan Rice, but £85 million is too much in my opinion. Manchester United were actually interested in this player too , but negotiations became tougher as Manchester United did not want to waste money if West Ham remained  insistent on their asking price.

Manchester United are going to the Champions League and have shown tremendous performance since the manager's arrival. We can't say the same for Tottenham, though. Despite beating Manchester United in the Europa League final and winning the trophy, Tottenham would have been relegated next year. Manchester United, on the other hand, despite losing the Cup, continued to fight and secured a place in the Champions League again this year. Perhaps they need to find the players who will give their best effort for the team.

Currently Arsenal's left side is not as expansive as the right side although there are Trossard and Martinelli there but they are not as fast as Saka on the right side so this makes the attack conditions not too stable and I think it makes sense if Arteta looking for a gap to bring this player from PSG.
If Arteta manages to fill that gap with that player, they would be getting rid of a big problem and a gap that is very easy to enter, or where the vulnerability is always likely to be there, but they need a lot of money and I don't know if Arsenal has what they are asking for, plus the Sheikh has to want him to leave and the player also has to want to leave the team, at the moment they are going through now, so it is more difficult.
In the end it all comes back to money talking but for Arteta and Arsenal actually I don't feel this is a problem because we know that Arsenal are always working on what Arteta wants to do but another problem is Nasser Al-Khelaifi. He doesn't need the money when the player fits into the PSG squad so he will keep whatever the nominal value so this might be a stumbling block if Arsenal try to lobby Barcola.

Arsenal are not short of money but PSG are also more than that as they currently have enormous resources so it will be difficult for Arsenal to hijack this player although he will later be very useful to fill the gap that Martinelli and Trossard cannot close.

First of, there is nothing as such as relegated player, a club could have been relegated but the players there in are still valid to play anywhere as long as there are no sanctions on them,

Juventus were relegated by the Italian FA still the players were still sought after dew to their outstanding qualities,

Manchester united failed to secure the player's signature cause the player himself opted for Tottenham, using the phrase "relegated player" sounds like demystifying the player image.
I didn't refer to Fernandes as a relegated player, what I referred him to was a player that's not playing in the Premier League, at such Tottenham Hotspur wasn't supposed to pay that much to sign him. Tottenham Hotspur shouldn't have rush in agreeing a deal worth £85 million to sign Fernandez because there's no way he will accept to play with West Ham United in the Championship, they would have relax a little bit, West Ham United would have reduce the transfer fee of Fernandez. Manchester United never failed to sign Fernandes since they didn't bid for him in the first place, and if you insist that Manchester United failed to secure Fernandez's signature, how much bid did Manchester United sent to West Ham United for Fernandez?

Spurs are spending money like there is no tomorrow. If they keep at it, then they are going to be better for sure, because they literally have no other option, they are changing the whole team and getting some incredible players. However, this brings in a huge risk involved as well. It means that, if they are not a top six team again like they used to be, then they have spent money that doesn't come back in, and that will put financial stress on the team.

Being unsuccessful definitely causes problems for the owners, hell even Glazers had to sell the team to INEOS (mostly) just to make up for years of being terrible after spending money .So there is no guarantee that Spurs will do fine, but I sure hope they do for the owners sake.

Tottenham struggled a lot last year. Towards the end of the season, they were almost relegated. However, Manchester United, under Carrick, put in a magnificent performance. I remember nobody expected such a good performance from Manchester United. But they surprised everyone, beating many big teams in the remaining league matches and climbing all the way to the Champions League qualification zone. They made it clear they will be in contention again next year.
