Tottenham reach verbal agreement with Manchester City to sign Savinho, here we go!

Club to club verbal agreement in place tonight with Sávio set to travel for medical at #THFC.

Fee will be over £75m, details to follow.

De Zerbi, what are you cooking  Smiley Smiley
Tottenham’s transfer policy this season has been absolutely crazy. They’ve spent over £300 million to sign players. This includes their latest signing, Savinho, for £75 million, an absurd price for a player who barely saw any playing time at Manchester City last season. I see Tottenham’s transfer policy as extremely reckless because they’re buying players at unreasonable prices. Don’t they realize that this transfer policy could lead to sanctions under the PSR rules?

Furthermore, regardless of what De Zerbi is planning, it seems to me that he is held in such high regard by Tottenham’s management that they are pouring vast amounts of money into fulfilling his wishes. Yet, historically, previous Tottenham managers have rarely received the same preferential treatment as De Zerbi.

Arteta has already said what he was asked about Alvarez. It is said that Arteta is very happy with the current Arsenal squad after several players have officially become part of Arsenal.
Atletico, through CEO Miguel Angel Gil, said that Atletico will help Julian Alvarez and continue to try to look after him so that he can find his best potential. This source is from Fabrizio Romano.
Arsenal actually, with their game so far, doesn't seem to rely too much on attackers. Gyokeres still looks like he's useless in his position and I think that's because Arsenal's playing style relies more on wing attackers and creative midfielders.

What a cunny manager, I expect him to say the same but if Atletico Madrid agree to their terms, they are going to bring him over to Arsenal to even have a better hedge against other teams. As it stand, Atletico Madrid are not even after money from the way Alvarez offers was rejected by the club, Barcelona was down to it to get him but their ego is making their decisions and I am very sure they are going to regret the decision, no player is worth killing every path.

There are evidence that Alvarez does not want the club and the club is rejecting the signs. Two things is going to happen later, he is going to flop, they will sell him as scrap or loan him out and by that time, the loan will not worth what they will get it they sold him now. The worst is that they might not win the league even if Alvarez was still interested in the club, Barcelona and Real Madrid are too ready for this season.

I don’t know what Atlético Madrid stand to gain by getting involved in the race for Julián Álvarez; ultimately, they risk ending up with a lacklustre player who might contribute very little this season, and instead of earning over 100 million now, they’d end up with half that amount in a year or two (as happened to Napoli with Osimhen).
If a player wants to leave, it’s only right that he should go; what’s more, those crooked agents are causing more and more trouble.

Atlético Madrid's problem is letting Alvarez sign for a rival that's why they don't want him to move to another Spanish club, especially Barcelona,  but it's something they can't avoid because the player wants Barcelona and won't agree to sign for other clubs except Barcelona, Arsenal tried but it seems he's made up his mind to play for Barcelona.

Agents are also a problem too, i know they're the ones pushing him to leave to another club, maybe he might leave in the late transfer cause Atlético Madrid needs to sell now or regret not doing that when the value of Alvarez has dropped so bad.

Snip.
Rodri is Pedri's national teammate and i don't think this will negatively affect their relationship. Rodri and Pedri are two talented players. Rodri also has more experience, which is why when he arrives in Barcelona he will certainly take the place of leader of the midfield, but i don't think Pedri sees this as a problem.
Indeed, i believe he will aim more to adapt to Rodri's type of game, becoming his ideal arm in the department.
The good relationship between Rodri and Pedri in the Spanish national team will continue at Barcelona, as both are intelligent professional players. They are star players who possess vision and high-level technique in midfield. In terms of experience, Rodri holds the edge. He boasts a wealth of titles with both club and national teams and frequently acts as the general on the pitch.

Now that the two are on the same team, their playing styles actually complement each other, Rodri acts as the tempo-setter and breaks up opposition attacks, while Pedri channels his creativity into the attack. Rodri's arrival at Camp Nou reminds me of the glory days when the midfield was led by Xavi and Iniesta. If this duo clicks just as their predecessors did, Barcelona's midfield could once again dominate Europe, just as it did a decade ago.

Have neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid ever faced this problem?

The market is now well inflated, prices are too high. But he can be a strong player even if he is 30 years old, he still has years to demonstrate his full potential. Real Madrid has no problems of this kind and can spend easily, Barcelona perhaps has so much faith in this player that he can improve them.

You know what's interesting in Alvarez, I don't know his personality off pitch but the dude is calm when he is on the field, everyone will take him immediately they get the chance to buy him. If Osimehn was rubbish by Napoli, later went as loan to Galatassaray and change everything about them despite been seen as a crack head player, Alvarez will be bought with huge demanded or sign quickly even if he is a free player.

Didn't Real Madrid waited 3 years for Mbape contract to expire, PSG did worse than what they are doing now and they were even winning trophies. Atletico Madrid are neither winning anything and they don't want to take the cash they would have enjoyed as liquidity to buy more players. I will be watching to see their downfall. Simeone is not longer with them, I will see what they have to win then trophy this season.

I am sure that the purchase of Rodri by Barcelona is the most profitable purchase that we will see on the pitch in this transfer window by Barcelona.
I really hope he'll be useful and that he'll be able to do well at Barcelona, I'm very confident that he will succeed.
It’s safe to say that Rodri is Barcelona’s best signing this season. I can’t even imagine how formidable Barcelona’s midfield will be this season with the trio of Rodri, Pedri, and Olmo. Barcelona’s performance will certainly be even stronger. Especially since we saw at the World Cup just how formidable these three players are when they play together, which helped Spain win the World Cup. That’s why I’m absolutely convinced that Rodri will be a key pillar for Barcelona this season.

Keep calm because it's not going to happen, his contract expires around 2029 or 2030, between these two year that's when it will expire, that's a whole lot of time. Atletico Madrid made it very clear that they are not interested in selling and Barcelona still wants him and just like every other club, they included a release clause of €500 million. It's a clear situation right now and that amount signifies that his not for sale but of Barcelona needs him so badly, they can go ahead and activate the release clause it's that simple. Clubs has been doing, even Barcelona did it and the are still doing it , so why is almost everyone against Atletico Madrid on this? I support them fully and if Barcelona claims they need him, they should activate his clause. Most of the time that players are tagged with high prices, you think they worth that amount? No.

I'm not surprised because once you're not there to take charge things will easily fall apart and change and when a person replaces, a new system is adopted. We can't expect another person to build the same thing with what Pep built, they are different people with different philosophy, approach and system.

For now I don't expect a perfect result from Manchester City, at least not yet but I can't agree that they'd struggle for the whole of the season. When there is a new system the players find it difficult to adapt immediately and also the new coach needs time to iron things out. This might take up to a season or even less or forever but I personally believe Enzo Maresca and I am certain they will improve within the season even though they are not able to challenge for the title yet.

Manchester City will be able to compete again, but I'm sure it won't happen anytime soon. Although he still has very strong pieces in the team, the one who guides it is missing: Maresca. I am find him a good coach, but a good part of the team was sold to him, which doesn't help him at all. Doing what Pep did is impossible and i believe that City will be able to return to what it has always been, but not immediately.

I don't necessarily blame Maresca for the players leaving because the majority have been having transfer news already on them and this season it was fulfilled.

I think it's somehow better for him because those he will build the team with will be fir a long term. There are still quite a number of key players very much available having a long term plan and I doubt anything will change their stance.

This is crazy, £75m for a player that have just two goals in two seasons for the citizens? How is this happening? Savinho is a good talent but as far as I know he hasn't done anything to be at that amount, I completely agree with you, the biggest transfer scam. Is like Spurs are so desperate to get some of the best players on their side and they can do anything even if is to spend the highest but I wonder if they are going for UCL games, conference league or the Europa League. For me I still don't trust them to even improve because they are always like that, their energy in playing and showing up is on View ones.

I have also always seen Savigno as a very technical player, because that is undeniable, but one who has never actually brought noteworthy results. Even with Manchester City he is a player who is good at dribbling, but who then also struggles to get past his man. He doesn't seem like a player to bet so much money on and, like you, i don't understand what Tottenham saw in him.

I don't know what you mean by Pep's legacy, but just in case, I'll clarify that he left Maresca a club that hadn't been in the title race for two seasons and was accustomed to annual humiliations at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League. And I'll remind you that it was Pep who failed the generational change at City. When the KDB generation gradually began to fade away, he didn't stop and spent 200 million per transfer window, but he couldn't return City to its former heights. I wrote about this a long time ago - essentially, Pep is a technical figure, City operates according to the same patterns with or without him.
What legacy i meant is that those players during Pep's era. Beside that i have to a bit disagree about that. City has so bang average club before Pep joined club, then splashed billions of money. Didn't you remember how Mancini and Pellegrini only won six trophies in total compared to the Pep who won 20 trophies alone? So his influence is not only in

technical, but almost in everything. It's the reason he's being handed a position as a manager instead of a head coach only. But i agree Pep's too late to regenerated his players, but it should not be an excuse for Maresca.
If Manchester City wasn't punished after 113 count charges, I wonder what they will do to get punished. Personally, I think Manchester City can go all the way of overhauling its entire team and buying new ones and still nothing will happen to them. I'm wondering if it's another team in the league that has this 113 charges, by now they would have been fined, transfer ban and even point deductions but here's Manchester City walking freely for year. I will no longer be surprised if Manchester City keeps on doing what they have been doing and getting away from it.
If City can get over from their massive charges. They will obviously do nothing and just to follow the rules like what it should be. Simple as that.

With what I just watched between Hull City and Manchester United, I think Michael Carrick should rush down to the transfer market, to get a good left back, and one more good striker, those guys were all awful in today's game, the Manchester United I know don't always lose their first match of the season, but this is different, or could it be that people were tell the truth when they say Manchester United will experience another version of Michael Carrick this season, hmm, they should act fast because they are playing all four competitions this season.

Well, according to what I've seen and heard from many experts on the El Chiringuito program, they say Rodri will start and that Pedri will probably be left out. I don't know if it's true; Flick might decide otherwise.

I know that having a solid midfield is fundamental to winning matches and becoming champions. Barcelona has a very good team; we just have to wait and see how they start this league season to see their potential. In my personal opinion, I expect a lot from Real Madrid; they have all the necessary players to win any competition.

Also, I'd really like to see that Clásico, which is always so exciting. This time, I don't think Real Madrid will let themselves get thrashed. They have very high-level players, and I think it will be a new spectacle of great football.

I believe Flick is intelligent enough to understand that Pedri is too important a pawn to let slip away. Yes, its true that Rodri will be a great starter because you can't sign a player of this level and then not let him play.

That's something you can't afford to do. So Rodri will definitely start and with time maybe Flick will be able to adapt both starting players.

Arsenal case is different,  Atletico already accepted their offer around 100M + but Alvarez himself refused.
IIRC, a few days ago Fabrizio mentioned that one of Arsenal's representatives talked with Hidalgo [Julián's agent] when he was in London earlier in the week and the offer they were hoping to get was way higher than what Arsenal was willing to give and on top of that, Julián didn't appear to be that interested in returning to England.
- FWIW, I think he'll stay for another year at Atlético Madrid, then he's going to force a move.

If I had to make a comparison with a Real Madrid player, I would choose Modric instead of Hazard. Both Rodri and Modric are kind of slow players, both had some injuries, but due to the way they play I think age is a secondary factor. At the end Modric constantly played for Real Madrid until he was 37 years old, after that he was more on the bench. A player like Rodri could easily player other 6 years at very high level.
Yes, your comparison is spot on.
But I’ve got a slightly critical question!
Why spend 70 million euros on a player who’s now 30 years old? I realise he’d take the team to the next level, but he’s simply not worth that kind of money.
What’s more, the player’s salary is a real burden.
Have neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid ever faced this problem?
Well, they bought the best defensive midfielder in the world, which is a the top of his career. Considering his contract was about to expire I agree the price is a little steep, maybe they could have paid him 60 millions instead of 70, but 10 millions are not a huge difference at the end of the day. Juventus paid over 100 millions for a 33-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo, and despite his age his performances were phenomenal.
I’m not questioning the player’s qualities – he’s truly a top-class player.
But I was looking more at the financial side of things.
They’ve spent 70 million today, but I don’t think they’ll be able to sell him for that sort of money in the future; his value will inevitably go down as he gets older, and whilst his performance might decline, it could also improve (that’s the big unknown).
Obviously, with him in the team, the overall standard of the side rises quite significantly.
I think you're trying to analyze this transfer from the wrong side: Barcelona didn't purchase Rodri with the idea to get some money back in the future; they purchased him because they were looking for that kind of player, in that role, and with experience. It's the same thing they did with Lewandowski: they knew since the beginning the Polish striker would have left for free, and they were ok with that.

Roll Eyes Do you by any chance remember when the City was bought by the sheikhs? It was the summer of 2008, Mancini and Pellegrini did not have the foundation that Pep had when he arrived, they turned the club that had returned to the Premier League in 2002 into champions. Pep simply continued what was started (not by him) with the cheat code - endless money. And how did he end up? A washed-up whiner (I'm sure you've seen the recent leaks from the City dressing room) who, even with endless money, couldn't rebuild the team.

I don't necessarily blame Maresca for the players leaving because the majority have been having transfer news already on them and this season it was fulfilled.
Indeed, when internal friction between players and club officials results in tension occurring in the club, this is a common occurrence, but it is not as bad as what happened at Chelsea, when the transfer policy is no longer in accordance with the vision of the players and club officials in managing the squad, that is what will happen, players, coaches and others will leave and go to that club and to other clubs.

Regarding Maresca, of course we can't blame him for leaving Chelsea, we have to look at the internal factors that occur within Chelsea, there are many things that are not in accordance with the policies of club officials, such as medical conflicts, vision and also management, the higher ups don't know all that can affect the players in the squad and so on.
The proof is that Maresca is currently believed to hold a position at Man City as first team manager, After he left Chelsea, the evidence was clear that Maresca had professional responsibilities and policies for the club and players, so Man City took Maresca and placed him in a strategic position at Man City.

I do not like the idea of Manchester United pushing to get Balde from Barcelona. If it is not a season long loan for him, then it shouldn't work, he is another player who is always with a new injury and I do not want that for Manchester United. We should be all over Lewis Hall, his explosive pace and experience in the Premier League Competition will benefit us a whole lot.

Kenan Yildiz was recently linked with a move to Arsenal but it seems like all talks and hopes of such a move was brought down with the statement of Juventus manager Spalletti saying it will not happen and that he is important for them and their future.

Bradley Barcola and Mbaye are both names most likely to sign for Liverpool football club if everything goes well. They're still working behind the scenes to make it happen.
