How profitable is RX580 nowadays? Let's say you are mining Monero, Ethereum, Verge.

It depends on how much hashrate you can squeeze out of your RX580, which depends on the card manufacturer (e.g. XFX or Sapphire) and, significantly, the vRAM manufacturer (e.g. Hynix or Samsung).
You can get a good idea of the profitability of individual coins by using this web site http://whattomine.com/calculators use the 'GPU' tab to check multiple coins at the same time http://whattomine.com/coins

I had the same question of Intellecual Romanticist, and now i'm wondring which of XFX or Sapphire / Hynix or samsung is better ?

An other question, is there a real difference between RX480 and RX580, and between RX 570 and RX580 ? and finally 4Go and 8go ?

Thanks

I would recommend you sapphire of course but it's impossible to know if their memories will be hynix/elpida/samsung

Anyway sapphire nitro+ are the best cards actually in my opinion

There's no difference mining between rx 580 4gb or 8gb

Rx 480 are not for sale you just don't question about that Smiley

Between rx 580 and rx 570 the difference is a bit hashrate, I prefer rx 580

Thanks for your answer,

So, i think i will buy RX580 4Gb, it costs less Smiley

But in france we can buy RX480 ! has it any advantage ?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

as far as I know, they will hash the same but at bit low power usage

Have installed 8 RX 580 4GB Nitro+ Elpida memory. 7/8 cards are getting around 30.5 mh/s @ 2050 mem and 1150 core. The last card I'm not able to get past 1900 mem..i can push a bit more with error and if I set 2000+ windows crash. It is the exact same card model with memory type etc as the other card all brand new with same serial also.

I thing I noticed is that dag creation ms is higher on this specific card.

Anyone seen this or cause it ?

Guys did you tried to benchmark it to other algo like ETN i was heard that there are some miners are getting more profitable mining ETN these with rx 570/580 base on what i search..
Also wanted to ask if whattomine is accurate if what altcoin is profitable to mine?

Hello, another noob here,  Cool Cool

I'm using 1 Shappire RX 580 Nitro+ 8gb with hynix memory. I just modded the bios

this are my numbers:

260W ish from the wall
mining etherium at 31.8mh/s.
1250mhz on the core
2250mhz on the memory
around 100W for the gpu core
fan speed at 30% around 57ºC for a 24hours period.
-175mV on the core
from 949 to 955mV while hashing.

am i doing the things right? Thanks for your help.
I will be setting up a system with a MSI RX 580 8GB in a few days. Your power consumption seems to be quite high compared to other figures i've seen on fora and youtube. Do you have this card in a complete system (so including other HDD's and a CPU with high TDP? I will be able to compare when my system is up. My rig will be headless and dedicated to mining though.

Hello. Normally people just tell you the gpu core power consumption. Mine is around 100W as i said. The system on idle uses about 100W to the wall. My cpu is a Xeon X5460 with 120W TDP, but even at full load only uses 40W according to cpuID HWmonitor, (it's way voltage downcloacked from VID numbers) so , not bad at all for a 4 cores 4 threads 8 year old dinosaur.
Yes, i use my rig for daily (it was not meant to be for mining but it is indeed now). add an 120mm AIO, 3 x120mm fans, ddr3 1,65v and not the best efficient mobo (though a good old one, like it is the Asus P5QC) and two hard drives, one SSD and 1TB hard drive. also RGB lights on the case and high performance keyboard and mice with RGB lights.

But, you should know that there are more variables. For example, the Asic Quality determines how much voltage does the card need to use, and moreover, are better overclockers and downclockers aswell. The higher asic, the better, mine is "average" at 75%.
Another variable is the memory. It's said that Samsung memory use less power than mine (Hynix memory)so there you can get a few watts less.
Another variable is the slot. cards with risers use less power according to what i've seen. very little less, but when you have 6 cards, well, it can be like 20-40W less for the whole 6 cards.

The sapphire RX 580 pulse model, as from stock uses less power, you can go way down to 0,835v using 77W and hashing nearly 30mh/s. While mine, the Nitro+ uses more core voltage so the number from which you can downclock is higher than on the pulse, even at -200mv it will not let me go below 0.925v no matter if i go to 1000mhz on the core. So, in practice, for only mining, the pulse is the way to go. Thought i think you can tell the miner to insert a certain voltage, i haven't tried it out.

for a complete 6 RX 580 8gb cards mining rig the total power consumption according to some people is about 850W to the wall. like 125W per card (assuming idle power consumption of about 100W)This is achivable just by going to 75-80W on the core power consumption.

I can confirm, that , with my settings above, i don't need to plug the 6 pin conector, it will be perfectly fine with the 8 pin connector while hashing. i've tried even 1450mhz on the core and 2250 on mem with just 6mv added to stock voltage on the core with only the 8 pin connector and it was perfectly stable in Uniengine Heaven and 3dmark fire strike, so....there you are.

according to my numbers, my card uses while hashing a total power consumption of about 150W, Being like 100W for the core and 50W for other components. I've tried going below that, but the savings on W are very little compairing with the Mh i do not get.
Thanks for your clarifaction. I somehow missed the 100W per card remark you made, I was comparing the 260w from the wall.

I finaly got my first card in and am playing around with the numbers. I'm in the 75-78W region in GPU-Z and 100W on a kill-a-watt meter. Now it's hashing stable at 28,7 Mh/s for 24 hours. This is with a modded bios (Samsung mem) with values from Uber-Mix 3.1. I'll be trying some more tuning.

Anybody can confirm the rx580 can be plugged with only one 8-pin connector ? I hope I could add a second one on a 520W power supply.

I have powercolor rx580 red dragon which has both 8pin + 6pin connector and I only use 8pin for each of them no problem works fine. I just need to improve my hash rate on SMOS.

Unless you are short in PCIe to power everything, is there a point using only the 8pin instead of both ?

I made some overclocking with my cards :

1. RX 480 MSI ARMOR 4GB (samsung) 1100/2100 (few memory errrors HWINFO)
2. 2x RX 580 MSI Gaming X 8GB (Hynix) 1100/2000 ( no errors HWINFO )
3. 1x RX 580 MSI Armor 8GB (Hynix) 1100/2050 (no errors HWINFO)
4. 2x Sapphire Nitro + 8GB (Micron). 1075/2100 (no errors HWINFO) one uses 8+6 pin, the other one uses only 8 pin, because i was out of cables.

My Rig works on msi z97 Gaming 5 with 16GB Ram, 240GB Toshiba SSD and core i5 4460, and the power draw is Around 950-980 Watt from the wall for dual mining and about 800-820 Watt at ethereum mining.

My Hashrate for dual mining is around 172 mh/s and 5200 mh/s for Decred.
I'm using 1000W 80+ Bronze PSU With 500W 80+ bronze PSU to make it more stable.

All cards except RX 480 (925mv) works on 850 mv voltage. Even with some memmory errors on rx 480 it works fine, without crashing. MSI Gaming X are worst, because they arent going to get even 29mh/s at those settings.. I think there's no reason to going up with voltage to get 1mh/s more per card. Temps are very low, sometimes fans stops, because is lower than 55 celsius.

I'm using one click timing patch on all cards.
I was configurating that for around 10 hours to find best settings for them. I think that power draw around 1kw is good score. if u fave better setting for those cards, please reply Cheesy

Greetings

Can someone please help, I have these card, MSI RX 580 ARMOR 8GB OC with Samsung memory, I copied straps 1:1750 to 1:2000 and 2:1750 to 2:2000, that pushed my stock hash from 19 to 24.5, haven't overclocked as yet. Hash rate still low though, it could be very helpful if someone knowledgeable can help.

Here is my original rom: https://mega.nz/#!jdxDnBRL!kJokqryH6FtSMfQiyIlovZxmTUcqRlgYzVjvmK_3Rts

Thanks

i just help my friend tune his MSI  card which is the same as you. can go 30.6m with others strap. The first thing you would like to you is using ddu to uninstall the driver and install the blockchain driver.

I just bought a couple of RX580's.  Is it still possible to get these to run with Claymore under Linux?

It seems that the Linux software is too new for any driver software that I can get my hands on.
Drivers keep complaining that my Xorg is too new, or that dkms code cannot be installed because some structure member no longer exists in the kernel headers, etc. The only driver that installed fine, the amdgpu-pro-17.50-511655.tar.xz  and the AMD-APP-SDK 3, do not seem to be supported by Claymore.

Just having a tough time..

Finaly got my card in. The same as mentioned above. MSI RX580 Armor 8GB Samsung. Now hashing without memory errors at 30.2 Mh/s and 650 Mh/s SAI. The memory straps improved the stock hashrate, but tuning the memory clock and GPU clock improved things from +/- 27 Mh/s up to the current values. Power usage is about 88 Watt GPU-z, +/- 110 Watt from the wall in dual mining mode.

Yes you can. I've tryed Ubuntu myself, but hash rate is down by 4 Mh/s. This is with the most recent mining driver from AMD. Also power usage is higher than on Windows and I can't overclock/undervolt. I would use Linux if the performance was a tie or even somewhat less (this is my first Windows install in years), but it just isn't worth it at the moment.

Can't get my MSI RX 580 8Gb Gaming X (samsung) working on voltages lower than 975mv. If try to go lower than -170 in afterburner, system hangs even in 2D.
Is it the limitations of AB or I'm rather unlucky with my card. Virtually every guide on the internet says you should be able to get them working with 900mV @1150 Core freq.

Update to my initial post.

Managed to downvolt to 875 with OverdriveNtool, just had to revert any changes done with AB. (Afterburner changes relative values not absolute, so the -170 in AB was way too low to go when OverdriveN settings were applied, also it seems Overdriven doesn't overwrite every AB settings).

Getting 30Mh + 86 Lbr @117W

hello
I have 13 x RX580 XFX GPU with Samsung memory.
I am using simplemining but I can't pass over 25Mh/s per card. I have not enough time to search and try different combinations.

So i can pay someone to give me the best choice: best bios and settings.

So I also got a Rig running with 7x Sapphire RX580 Nitro + 8GB
5x with Micron Mem and
2x with Samsung/Hynix [GPU1 and GPU5[ (why are 2 Mem's on one card?)
Windows 10
Blockchain Driver
PCIE0+PCIe1 Gen1

The bios for all gpus are patched with PolarisBiosEditor166 One-Click-Patch!
Read and written with newest WinAtiFlash.

The command line to start Claymore looks like this:
EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool eth-eu1.nanopool.org:9999 -ewal WALLET_ADDRESS.rig1/EMAIL -epsw x -dcoin sia -dpool stratum+tcp://sia-eu1.nanopool.org:7777 -dwal WALLET_ADDRESS/rig1/EMAIL -dpsw x -ftime 10 -dcri 20,20,20,20,20,20,20 -cclock 1200,1160,1200,1180,1160,1180,1200 -cvddc 875,885,875,880,885,885,875 -mclock 2150,2100,2150,2150,2120,2100,2150 -mvddc 875,885,875,875,885,889,875 -tt 57,57,57,57,57,57,57 -fanmin 42,42,42,42,42,42,42 -tstop 78,78,78,78,78,78,78

I get a complete Hashrate of 209MH/s ETH and 4150 MH/s SIA with a power consumtion of 1150W from the wall.
ETH: GPU0 30.355 Mh/s, GPU1 30.056 Mh/s, GPU2 30.396 Mh/s, GPU3 30.398 Mh/s, GPU4 29.679 Mh/s, GPU5 28.629 Mh/s, GPU6 30.388 Mh/s

The fans are running at around 50% and the temperatur of the GPUs is around 48-52°C so I think this is not bad at all.

I think I have to tweak the Core and Mem settings (clock and voltage) a little bit more, so I can decrease the power consumption maybe by 50W but I didn't think I get that RIG under 1100W.

There has been a sudden spurge of interest in the RX 580 too now. These too are not available anymore. So sad. I could manage to get my hands of 3 of these.
2 x Asus RX580 8GB (Hynix) ( and 1 x Sapphire Nitro RX 580 (Micron).
Sapphire Nitro is the workhorse absolutely. They are doing 29,29,30 ETH and total of 800 DCR at 430 Watt at the wall meter. I think I ca go higher with the dcri.

My question is regarding the fan temperatures. The temperatures are running at 65 with fans at 60-70. Are there any tweaks specific to fan speeds for better temperature management??
Its still winters in India and I can only imagine the difficulties that'll come with the summers.. Undecided
Any suggestions on temperature management would be really cool.

Ok tell me how are You getting 30 Mh/s when I can just get 29.4 no matter how I clock it? I'm currently running on 1200/2000 at 981mV (on AB). Not using blockchain drivers but Crimson ReLive 17.11.4.

I have four 6 card rigs, all Sapphire Nitro+ 8gb (Samsung memory). After BIOS mod, I am getting 29.2 - 29.8 MH/s with all cards. Clock settings are as follows:

Core clock - 1130
Mem clock - 2200
Core voltage - (-125)
GPUZ - (96W-97W)
From the wall - (880W per rig)

Everything seems to be running smoothly with no rejected shares (so far), but while mining in ethermine.org, a lot of concern arises which are not included in discussions. I wanted to post a screenshot here, but couldn't find the option.

Reported hashrate - 714 MH/s
Current effective hashrate (ranges from) - 584 MH/s - 758 MH/s
Average effective hashrate - 674MH/s

Valid shares - (505 - 652)
Stale shares - (37 - 72)
Invalid shares - 0

My concerns are although my mods and clock settings are working fine, with no rejected shares,

* Why is my average effective hashrate 40 MH/s lower than than reported hashrate?
* Why am I getting 8-10% stale shares?

I have tried nano pool, I was getting lower no. of valid shares per hour (about 120-135/rig) whereas at ethermine, its about (140-160/rig) and stale shares (9-15/rig).

Hi guys!
I downloaded the Radeon Software driver Crimson ReLive Edition Beta for [Suspicious link removed]pute Driver and got 29 mhs on my Sapphire rx 580 8Gb.
Previously, I had to change the bios timing settings for such performance.

Hello guys,

I have Nitro + 4GB and 8GB.
i have 30.5MH/s with ETH without HW ERROR.

But with Cast XMR in Cryptonight, i cannot have 900h/s like people, the best is 830...

What is your tune for this algo ?

I have this :

1150/850
2150/875

Hynix memory
and Elpida too.
