Bitcointalk is loading EXTREMELY slow. Fix?

Hi. I was wondering if there are any issues going on with the site, or if it is just me? The site has been loading in extremely slow for like a week, and i'm not sure if it's an issue on my end, or the sites end.

If there is something i can do to make it load faster, please let me know.

I'm still getting the problems as well.  It's been down about half of the day for me.  Weirdly, Tor seems to make it better, but even using Tor it's failed a couple of times.  Very spotty uptime.

Yeah, I've tried using a VPN from different regions, but it wasn't really a success. It seems that the IP's aren't blocked, it is just loading extremely slow. I'll delete cookies to see if that makes a difference but i doubt it.



I see the response time is 300 ms, which is compared to a website like google, on the same site, pretty high. (*10)

I've been timed out 3 times now. Lets see if this post will ever come through..

It's a good temporary workaround but I still find the site loading slower than usual.  Let's hope everything will be back to normal by tomorrow.  I seem to can't stop going to this forum, it's addicting.  Lol.

Thanks for this information. I was also having trouble all morning today and i thought it was due to some probelm of mine. I cleared cache, restarted and tried every tip n trick to make it load fast, but  in Vain.

Thanks for that workaround, I will try it and see if it makes a difference. If not, i guess i'll wait untill there's another fix.

Yup. For everyone still having the issue, this is what solved it for me:

-> Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
-> Edit HOSTS with admin privileges using notepad++
-> Paste in this line, or replace this line with the current line you have for 'bitcointalk.org' = 52.55.72.170 bitcointalk.org

-> Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
-> Edit HOSTS with admin privileges using notepad++
-> Paste in this line, or replace this line with the current line you have for 'bitcointalk.org' = 52.55.72.170 bitcointalk.org

Thank you for that, though I am computer-retarded and shan't comply.  This happens on bitcointalk from time to time,  and it's nothing to worry about.   I only get my collar destarched when there's a hack and my account is put at risk.   That's not the case here, so I'll sleep like a mentally ill baby tonight.  Waking up every hour, screaming for comfort and people I don't know.

I was also facing this issue. Firstly I thought my internet speed went down but when I started downloading it gave me the speed that was supposed to be. Then I Thynos post.

I've been having that issue a bit lately too, I think it's the site is being a little overloaded. I don't think there's much anybody can do to fix it other than the admin(s) paying for a better server, but that costs money.

Mine was fixed automatically. These last days I'm having problem connecting to site and sometimes it didn't even load the page properly but it just fixed on its own, maybe someone was attacking the site?

So that is why it was loading excessively slow. My internet connection is slow anyway, but this explains why it was unusually, annoyingly, irritatingly slow. Thanks for sharing.
