If the btc price went from 500 to 1200 USD for 6 months then it is possible to reach $3000

Care to elaborate instances where we can see Bitcoin price at that range?  Comparing a ratio of two different price range is different.  Remember in order for Bitcoin to reach $3000 in 4 - 5 months time, it needs to have an exponential growth in adoption and demand in such a short span of time.  Aside from that, the amount needed to push $1200 to $3000 is more than 3x the amount it needs to push $500 to $1200, and always remember the resistance. People will definitely cash out when prices meet their sell price target.

You are very positive about it, like most of the people in this thread. I think differently. There's a lot of turmoil on the markets and the block size debate hasn't reached a consensus.
I don't think we will see $2000 this year, but I'm not saying we won't ever. IMO bitcoin is overpriced at the moment especially after the big Chinese exchanges blocked fiat withdrawals and people pumped the price to move their money out through bitcoin.

It could happen if all the bitcoin support components could fit the target. Such as a country that recognizes bitcoin as one of its financial media will definitely make bitcoin more reliable and also increase the price of bitcoin .

There is some general opinion that BTC price can only go up from now on,but the past has taught us to be cautious when it comes to price prediction for BTC.There are some good signs for BTC in the world,price is very stable for months which is good,but problem with block size is still there and some bad news can at any time turn the situation in the opposite direction.

If we take in consideration that price is now around 1250$ and there is eight months to the end of the year we need 750$ increase in price to reach 2000$.Nothing is impossible,but in my opinion it would be difficult reach this goal this year and keep that price stable.

You shouldn't pay much attention to what the majority of the people here are saying. If you just focus on Bitcoin and its future potential, then it's pretty clear that we'll smash through $2000 and $3000 as well. I however like to see the price increase in a gradual manner. I prefer sustainability over short term peaks at any time. Sure, it's nice to take advantage of heavy fluctuations, but I like stability even more.

Stability will make sure that merchants will have far more incentive to directly accept Bitcoin as payment option. Right now the far majority of the merchants 'accept' Bitcoin through third party payment processors. I like to see this change. Stability will also make Bitcoin far more appealing to the average joe. Just imagine how the stability will make Bitcoin a perfect remittance tool. Benefit after benefit, after more benefits.

And we know that if there's an inflation, the interest rate rise. Then it will create an effect where people will look for alternatives that is not to tied any Central Bank. This is what happened to China. With the devaluation of Yuan, Chinese went to bitcoin as an alternative. This is just my speculation.

The reason why many believe that the price wont fall back drastically is simply because we have more investors than it used to have and with the recent move by SEC to give the ETF a second shot has definitly sparked some interest and thereby we might break new records and if it is approved then the price would double .

Bitfinex is not a correct chart, they have a problem with wire transfer. It doesn't give you high accuracy, bitfinext is only the one had over $1400 for his bitcoin change rate.

If you look at the price back in April the 22th (the day this thread was created), the price was sitting around $1230.

We are one month further now, and we have gained +$800 in price. If you told me that we'll see an increase of that magnitude in such a short period of time, I would say that you are nuts.

But it seems that the conservativeness of most people (including mine), has been hammered in the ground real hard. I just hope that the $2000 mark will be sustainable enough to build further on.
