Today I tried to buy something that cost 40 dollars with BTC and was just about to send it until I saw it would cost twice as much as the item was worth to send it on chain. How come BTX is not worth more than BTC right now???

That is indeed an intriguing question. Currently, our 20 MB blocks are far from being fully utilized. In general, every other project is simply not BTC. In my opinion, this situation is unlikely to change significantly. Therefore, users may be looking for more cost-effective methods to securely send their coins in the future. BTX is definitely prepared for that.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

More than 60,000 BTX have already been burned.

Burning still doesn't make the coin 'worth more'... Neither does halving.
The ONLY thing that makes it worth more is marketing hype.
BTC is worth so much because it is 'the first'. Everything else just follows.

Marketing hype might play a part in some coins, but with crypto the price is basically determined solely by demand.  If there are any other factors, I can't think of them.

BTX is one of those altcoins that might be useful as a currency, but then again the same is true for any coin that has a low network fee and fast confirmation time.  Alas, nobody is using crypto to pay for things.  Still, BTX is still on my radar for some reason I can't fully articulate.

You are delusional.
Market hype is 99% the reason for a coin's price.
Demand means nothing.
"I will make halving occur to create scarcity'... prices NEVER reflect halving occurrences. All the blips you see are simply from 'market fluctuations' mainly created by a twit or yt vid.

In fact, I bet if the reward for this old chain became 0.0000001, you will not even notice the price change.
