I think that the best altcoin in 2017 is eth and zcash for mining . By mining eth and zcash you can get lot of profit monthly .

XRP has the potential to grow more during 2017 with the new adoptions and partnerships they have.
I would also recommend ICN as it introduces new thing in the crypto sector, although several projects have copied their idea.

IMO, you should keep an eye on LTC, BOSCoin and ETH. As many already said, start to dig the news, Twitter, this forum, everywhere... for new information about the altcoins that looked attractive to you. This is the best way to know if its price is correct, over or undervalued.

Bearing in mind the fact many alt-coins are increasing in value right now make sure that you pick the right one for the long term.

My DogeCoin is increasing daily and is close to being at a new all time high. LiteCoin is starting to gain buzz again, which may make it a more stable alternative. In terms of risk the likelihood is best diversified no matter the volume (saying alt-coins are inexpensive.)

I think that Dash has huge upside potential. IIRC the development team gets 10% of the mining reward, so as Dash increases in price, the development funds increase as well. At the beginning of the year Dash was around $12. Today it is $72. So the development funds have gone up 600%. The logic is the more development funds the more development and a faster, more stable, easier to use cryptocurrency.

Here in my mind there are two altcoins Only .
First is BTM ( available at Poloniex and Nova ) , if you will see the trading in the  BTM coin then you will find that BTM is really in good position Currently , it is because it's trading volume in 50-60btc per day . And also in my opinion it's price will increase from 28k Satoshi to 65k satishi , so it is more better to hold this coin .
Second coin is posw coin this coin is available in many  exchage , the reason for the future of the posw is that , this coin has own wallet and exchage for trading .

A lot of good altcoin this year, all altcoins of decent quality have a significant rise, one of them is ethereum, the price is still fiat 49 ~ 55 $, possibly eth price in September or Oktober will have a price 80 ~ 100 $. For me the best altcoin base on my analysis was maid, bay, xem, and dgb I think are those potentials in the market this year
2017, So I will buy them little by little then hold in a long term.
