The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

I store my ETH on Poloniex, where i can exchange if i want.
Well, people mostly don't trust exchangers and themselves, so they don't keep money there. Poloniex was down some time ago, by the way, wasn't it?
Anyway, I store my eth in an online wallet (ethereum-wallet.net) and am happy for it. Password, login and e-mail -nothing else is needed. I don't use eth much, though, so I am not sure how fast this wallet operates.

The regular wallet (mist/geth) took up 20gb the last time i tried it and either has to be running all the time or takes hours to update to use (from what i remember)

Any alternatives, especially liteweight, out there besides just storing them on exchanges?

im storing it in my ether wallet online, its look so good as a first time user, but i asked my friends about this and fortunately they said that this would be great and secured. so try it too.

I always worry a little about threads like this--like someone (not the OP, but potentially anyone) can use this information as a stepping stone towards figuring out where you store your coin. If they can start linking that to a real world identity, then can begin the work of trying to socially engineer their way into your wallet.

I am just using regular myetherwallet's private file and unlock it if needed.
But I don't hold much budget down there even if they are trustable.
This is also i wanted to say i do also use myetherwallet but i do only put small amounts of ETH and most of it are stored on cold storage because no matter how trustable and reputable the risk of losing all coins is still there and we wont know on when it would happen.Downloading whole blockchain or syncing is really pain in the ass but you must sacrificed if you do really like to store your ETH.
Although cold storage is more safe but as I am a small investor and cannot  afford to trade a good amount of Etherium or any other altrcon there I mostly put my Etherium in online wallet. As I always found it trusted and never found any problem related to my etherum wallet.

you are correct but there is also one thing to remember, people usually don't hold these altcoins for long, good traders that is.
so they want to have them hot and accessible at a moments notice and as a professional trader you don't want to even miss a second. so you keep it on exchange and dump it as fast as possible to make the most profit possible.

besides running a wallet for most of these altcoins, specially ethereum with its terrible wallet is a pain in the ass and it will eat up your network and HDD so fast.

An year ago I was have some ethereum in my exchange and after its value fall I sold them and now as the price is again rising and it is going well so I am thinking to buy some ethereum and keep them for the price to increase and for that I will try to keep them in a well trusted exchange as if any bad thing started to happen then I will exchange them immediately.
I think yes it is still good time to invest your money in Etherium but if you have some extra money that you can afford to invest for a long time. because I am sure that in future Etherium will remain as number 2nd best altcoin after bitcoin. Therefore I am also keeping eye to Etherium and thinkn about to invest my money there.

storing our ethereum in myetherwallet can be good option but in the past, i am trying to safe in ethereum offline desktop and now i use jaxx that support ethereum with another type of the coins. i think i am prefer to save ethereum in my android phone than in online wallet, so i can see my coins grow directly.
I am trading altcon and specially Etherium and always store in exchange wallet and I think I  never face any problem with that. To me I think every kind of wallets are okay and it all about your luck the benefit from Etherium that are stored in our wallet.

I tried to have software wallet of ETH. But I found it is too difficult to go with. So, decided to stick within online wallet of ETH. Even I am a hater of web wallet concept, I am forced to use it.

The rest of the token and my ethereum are stored on myetherwallet.com, its somehow organized that I can store all tokens in one wallet. Same with waves token, one wallet for all tokens on wavesplatform.

Yes, this coin got a good potential to become the best altcoin in future. Now is the right time to start accumulating in small quantities and store for another one-two years. Surely we will see a huge jump in price and we can make some good profit from this investment. As of now, I'm still storing in the online wallet but thinking to switch to off-line wallet soon.

Storing your bitcoin or altcoins i recomend coinbase investing in bitcoin and eth but if you really a trader and needs alot of wallets you just create a account in a trading site like poloniex they almost have all the altcoins in the market and at the same time you can also trade them if you want while investing.

On the first I encountered ethereum it's sound like good to hear, that's why I try to study their background also the value and their ability and capacity. After I studied their status, I try to have a faucets that produce ethereum. And now I was hoping that their value were still raised up.

I bought a small amount of ETH recently and I tried to use their official wallet but well it is really taking sometime to sync, so I researched and I see several options.  Among them I chose myetherwallet.com, since I can also use in sending ETH token.  It is easy and convenient to use.

For me the safest way to store ethereum is through myethwallet ive been using it for a long time and if my goal price will reach probably send it to an exchange.
Myether wallet is good but it doesn't have a good security. If someone be able to access your private key and you will be over. I think mist or hardware wallet is best place to store our ethereum, ERC 20 token and ERC 23 token.

Im using this https://www.myetherwallet.com in all my etherium tokens transactions, very simple and secured enough even big amounts of etherium just make sure you keep your private keys and keystore in a more secure storage and you will got no problems..

Since I don't have much I usually store mine in the the exchange. I know it's "bad advice" but since I can't run a full node it's really my only option.
