The following scam report is against user Barryst1e for the amount of 0.3 BTC.

What happened::
Barry was hired to do some work for HYPER at my request. He failed to complete this job and failed to repay what was owed.

Scammers Profile Link:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=526220

Reference Link:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1887530

Amount Scammed:
0.3 BTC

Payment Method:
Bitcoin

Proof of Payment:
https://blockchain.info/tx/9a9bc0d6863971d2304747f3a60dcf3d2711d6e30e5ee0e647f73657899472f3

Additional Notes:
On March 8, 2017 I hired barrysty1e to do some work for me. This job was to upgrade an old coins source to something newer. After several failed attempts and constant disappearances over the course of a month I fired him and hired someone who could do it.

During the course of this job he would go long periods without contact, taking frequent multi-day 'breaks' on a project with a limited time period. After more than a month I told him that since he didn't complete the job he was hired for I want my money back. After about another week he finally got in contact with me after I contacted the other people he works for and let them know I would open a scam report on him if he didn't repay it.

After the discussion we agreed on a partial payback of 0.2 BTC of the 0.3 BTC I initially sent him to do the job. He agreed to pay back 0.1 BTC within a week and the rest after. It has now been 2 weeks since that agreement and he has ignored my messages even though he is active on these forums.

Do not use barrysty1e for any developer or project work. He has failed to deliver what he was paid to do, ignoring messages, and has made no attempt at all to pay back even a portion of what he owes me.

He is a mooncoin developer, right?

I wondered about whether the mooncoin founder had any additional info on this person, but he hasn't been online since 2014.

Obviously, you should always use escrow but a senior member and a dev of a moderately successful coin, you would think that he is trustworthy.

And also it is very hard to confirm what you say is accurate, as there are no logs provided. I'm sure you could dig up some old chat history to add to yoru case.

The logs of our discussion are on http://thecryptochat.net. Unfortunately their chatrooms only show so many messages so I am unable to provide them but if it is of dire necessity I can see if they can pull it up for me.

There are others who are aware of what has been happening including the HYPER Board who were present in the conversation as well as Mooncoin_Foundation who has been fully aware of my issues with their developer for a couple weeks now. They will be able to verify that what I say is true.

He was paid 0.1 BTC up front and 0.1 BTC when it was finished with another 0.1 BTC tip. When he received the final payment we had what we believed to be a functioning wallet but a bug was found after that point that made it useless.

hello all,

quick recap of events.
was asked to help with the blockchain bloat of the existing hyper client, as cryptodatabase had pointed out it was a drain on system resources and ran slowly at times. i suggested moving to another client or restarting the chain with different parameters.

had ended up reusing the existing hyper codebase with different parameters (back/forth correspondence below):

last successful chain after coinbase generation (sent to cryptodatabase) @ 22032017

email addresses removed for privacy.

confirmation of blockchain status @ 03042017

email addresses removed for privacy.

cryptodatabase had forgot to enable staking in the client.
the chain had sat stagnant for some time (staking not enabled on node coind); and i did not keep my copy of the wallet open for long after sending coinbase to cryptodatabase.

confirmation the client had been working correctly, fired it up @ 12042017 and immediately started staking (my wallet):

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=624651.msg18557094#msg18557094

i was slightly irked that a scam accusation was in the works.
i found out that cryptodatabase had started work with another dev (his perogative, no offense taken) and had received his new codebase; to find he wasnt provided with a windows compile:

no compiled copy from new dev:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=624651.msg18580043#msg18580043

to my knowledge neither the new hyper wallet has launched, nor has the coinswap taken place (as of today; 27th april 2017). i'd provided a node for it to stay on (since removed), clean source code and a compiled qt wallet (along with coinbase sent to him). additionally it was pointed out that a user had issues using the wallet on windows 7; which is odd, as my development VM runs windows 7.

cryptodatabase had mentioned his financial motivations for the wallet refresh was due to owning a lot of HYPER; and it had recently been delisted by one exchange. as of now (27th of april, 2017); thecryptochat.net, where this offhand comment was made is currently down so i am unable to grab a screencapture to show this here. this is a big 'tell', so i won't place too much importance on it until i have the chat logs.

i've been a regular of this forum for some years; i'd welcome anyone who ive become friends with to comment here to provide me with some backing, as to being an honest character (being eccentric is not a personality flaw).

hello all,

Why haven't you made any attempt at all in repaying me the 0.2 BTC we agreed upon 2 weeks ago? You haven't even messaged me to let me know you couldn't pay it.

We had an agreement where you would only repay a portion of what I paid for the job, you broke that agreement. That is not honesty, that is thievery.

i stand by my original comments; nothing to add.

you were provided with a working client and sourcecode, as well as plenty of testing.
the last binary sent was to ensure that you were indeed running the last compiled wallet; not the intermediary ones sent in the meantime.

the fact you've been quick to jump to accusations; then raise a 'scam accusation' thread, after being provided with source code and working binary, simply shows me and others that you aren't patient at all; the delay at the end would have caused little to no issues for either of us.

the work was paid for and completed; you have sourcecode and wallet, transaction complete - our last encounter i had sent the coins to you; and you were told that you will need to wait for the coins to stake for 12 hours, had you simply left the wallet open - they wouldve kept staking.

i'm leaving this where it sits, i havent had any negative dealings with this forum until the accusation you've raised now.

Why did you agree to repay what was owed then? We were not alone in this chatroom, crazyjack and Psybits who are both respected members of this community were present at this time.

The HYPER wallet you provided was NOT finished. The GUI was messed up on it from being compiled incorrectly and the version number was never changed.

The bottom line is, you were hired to do a job and after over month later a refund was requested. You can either pay what you owe or you can face the consequences of your actions.

I'd be curious why barrysty1e agreed to repay/refund BTC?  If he had a working client, why offer to refund the majority back?

Is there any proof of him agreeing to pay back .2BTC?

I contacted TheCryptoChat and they are working on sending me a copy of the previous chat history for the Hyper Dev room, this may take some time.

Still no response from Barry about our agreement, proof has been shown that he agreed to repay $310 of the $460.

He asks others to back up his honesty but can't even man up to repay his debts, his actions are not that of an honest man.

don't feel bad guys.. this guy James (BarrySty1e) has yet to refund .5 BTC and 30k PIVX he initially accepted on the pretense of helping out on some side projects.. which he then went MIA and has since made no attempt to repay what he took.

An update, Barry offered 'terms' on repaying the amount owed on the 15th that would require this thread to be deleted, the service warning thread to be deleted, all of the posts in the coin thread for MoonCoin, and all negative feedback removed.

I did not agree to those terms and he hasn't bothered contacting me since then. I'm not going to cover up what he did in order to get my money back, not happening.

After reading both sides of the story,I came to the following conclusion :
Barrystyle needs to pay 0.20 back to the OP for not completing the work and constantly missing deadlines.deadlines. Barrystle, according to the chat logs you yourself agreed to pay him back 0.20 and not obeying to your own words makes you look less credible. You literally posted here opposite of what you had agreed initially.
Negative Feedback Left.
