Hi there,

I want to post a Bitcoinadress to recieve donations while useing Electrum as a wallet. I already found out, that sending BTCs to an "old" adress ist possible but not recommendet because of the possibility of tracking your past payment.

Which of the adresses used in Electrum should I use? The ones on the Top? Do I have to do anything else to "save" that adress?

Thank you for your help and sorry for the noob-Question.

Very best

It does not matter what address you use, they will all be tracked for payments. There is nothing you need to to do to "save" an address. All addresses after being generated are tracked forever. Addresses are never deleted nor is there anything that prevents you from using one multiple times.

If you are not a privacy freak, you can use only one address, it will be easy for people to track your balance, but if you are using BTC as donation method it should be fine.
The truth is, even if you will use multiple bitcoin addresses if someone will be persistent enough to track them, your total balance will be found.
Blockchain analysis is already quite advanced, so if your are using bitcoin because you think it is anonymous payment system - it is not quite the case.

For privacy, it is recommended that you use a new unused address each time you wish to receive coins. Electrum's receive tab should do this by default I believe or you can just select any of the addresses on your address list that have 0 transactions. Keep in mind that if you spend any of the inputs of multiple addresses at the same time, you effectively link those addresses and lose some privacy anyway.

Hi, actually it is good idea to use single address for donations (this way anybody can check how much was already donated). The rule of one address per transaction is mostly for privacy reasons or is useful for online shops (new address for each trade makes easier tracking payment status)

Addresses in electrum wallet are divided two main categories ( receiving addresses and change addresses ) eventually there is 3rd ( imported address - don't mess with importing keys unless you understand it) ... you can use both but better use the receiving.
No need to safe anything ( just backup your wallet seed )

It's nothing bad bad to use one address to receive donations, but you have to know one thing. Usualy, donations is small amount of bitcoins and when you will try to send all these donations to other address, you will have to pay big fee.
Also, all bitcoin transactions is public, so everyone can track your transactions and you can't hide it.

Go to the receive tab. You should get an address there. Give that to whomever you want to receive bitcoins from. They can keep using it multiple times.
