Everyone should know by now that pegging self-worth to external factors like appearance and wealth is not healthy but it's really hard not to. We live in a society where that matters and it's hard to go against the flow.

I would know. I basically fucked up and has been jobless for years and I'm definitely not happy with what money I have now. Money buys options and having more options is more likely to make you happy, or at least give you an illusion of control, which reduces stress.

I think what's more troubling is not that people feel they need money to be happy but the negative attitudes people have towards money.
