Im mining with nicehash, something which happens to me is when i open games, even low weight ones if i dont set min framerate it overheats and shuts down. (Using AMD vaio laptop with integrated Radeon, works at least for low graphic requiring games similar to WoW, not capable to run higher ones like EVE/BF) Same happens with Nicehashminer, but here's no framespersecond measurement

I know that mining BTC with CPU/Single not even dedicated GPU is stupid but i just wanted to try and succeed getting started the nicehash mining software.

1 So you're telling me that mining software forces the processing units whatever they are? I know this is useless but i want to get familiarized with it and to succeed leaving running the nicehash miner allover the night in the meanwhile I sleep...
2 Will i have to be changing the pools manually and to stay awake or does miner has an "AFK" option?
3 Isnt the overheating shutdown measure a security door not to burn my laptop? No matter what I do if I continue to mining even if I succeed at leaving miner working for 8 hours this will burn my laptop anyways?
4 Isnt there a way to leave the miner software running and set the intensity to lower no matter if the math operations run slow?

So ive searched in forum and inernet and they say to reduce intensity/performance to 30% aprox.
But in the settings I find different values that could be the intensity, but could also not be. So before I created a new topic i searched at forum and found nothing this is why i ask:

switch minimum AMD was 90. is this the one to reduce?
switch minimun fixed was90 also.

"Fixed mine of minimal time in seconds before miner switches algorythm" message info says at ? icon, so i guess it is not the efficiency/performance values since it is related to the intervals of time the miner switches algorythms? If i understood well?

minimal idle, minimal restart delay, minimum dynamic, api bind port pool start, switch profitability threshold, ethminer default block height, miner api query interval (is at 5 but doesnt explain 5 what...) are another values that i dont seem to understand. Miner info ? icons briefly explain this, but can anyone link me to a guide for better understanding and wider explaining about this please?

Thank you in advance

Mining anything with a laptop is futile and will burnout the laptop before youve even earnt enough to cover the cost of it.

*Optional to read: I know what happened, I recently did another newbie post and its not your fault to havent read it as you're not obligated to do so. What i had to explain and I did at the other post is that im a real newcommer, and will come to buying mining equipment later, by yearly or monthly little investments until I become a higher truck, but in the meanwhile I just wanted to prepare and set to ready the mining software and getting familiarized onto it. (Which I already succeed) surprisingly the BTC wallet was free to do, they arent asking me for a minimal paypal investment or so... and it was a hard duty to realize how to set the reward address.

Philip is this your signature? I mine alt coins with https://simplemining.net I see BTC as the super highway and alt coins as taxis and trucks needed to move transactions. Or is this forum's propaganda?

Laptop cooling not made for that kind of rough use and this makes no sense at all.
Stop asking questions about mining BTC with laptop, you are wasting your and our time.

Haggs, I didnt ask you to solve my questions if you're way too busy. I didn't ask you if its a waste of time and if you havent read, you piece of jerktroll, Im not going to use laptop im going to buy better equipment but I asked 4 things that are much different to if i care if it is or isnt a waste of time because if you didnt read you piece of trollcrap as I said: I AM JUST TESTING SO I CAN LEARN THE BASICS YOU PRETENCIOUS COCKSUCKER

So if you didnt read well I pretty much asked
1: Are all mining units forced?
2: Is there a way to set afk option?
3: How can the laptop die if the shutdown emergency measure is supposed to prevent high temperatures?
4: How do I lower the intensity no matter if operations have to run slower?

I DONT SEE MYSELF ASKING IF IT IS OR NOT A WASTE OF TIME, INSTEAD, AND IF YOU DONT HAVE TIME THEN GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY TOPIC YOU PIECE OF FUCKFACE

Also you are acting like if I were going to be forever using laptop and its not worth to answer me because im going to use laptop anyways which I specified that im onto buying better stuff so if youre so egocentrycal then leave the hell out of my wasting time questions, if i ask something is because i have the interest and interest is something that no matter if conditions are optimal or not it has to be satisfied to whoever haves it

Also if I have not a wide enough equipment i heard i can still mining altcoins which require less power am i wrong you pretencious godlike boy?

Totally irrelevant whether your moods are against one member of all of them. They are completely out of line.

Youve got to understand that there is a wealth of knowledge on this forum and a search function on the top of the page which can be used to find answers to your questions. As members have already said, it is futile trying to mine btc with a laptop even if it is just to learn. Buy yourself a Gekkoscience Compac or Antminer U2 usb stick and use cgminer. Persoanlly i have three conpacs hooked upto a powered usb hub running from a raspi3.

Ok thank you very much so will this stop overheating the laptop? Since they will be USB units and not the CPU?
Why do they say i am killing my laptop, isnt the overheat shutdown a security measure not to burn it? Does that mean that if i continue will i burn it? I am really curious about if shutdown measure is secure or not...
Even if it wasnt, would there be a way to make the algorithms or math operations run slower no matter if i had to risk efficiency? (I know i am not going to mining with laptop but i want to know if that would be possible)
Cgminer and nicehash have to be attended example 10 hours or they can be left automatically working for several hours?

Damn you are so polite.  Smiley

I didn't talk about other mining.

I only said that mining with a laptop is a waste of time, which it is.

No need to lose your mind because of that.

With that attitude I wouldn't put so high hopes in getting help from experienced users.

You know whats actually out of line, GT, is that Haggs avoiding my advice about "im just testing" and saying its futile because i said i know it was futile  but i asked very different things to if it was futile or not, i wanted to know miner-hardware related stuff, not efficiently-mining-related stuff

Actually it goes beyond being futile because mining with cpu and gpu shares nothing in common with modern mining of bitcoin and doesn't even teach you anything about mining. The CPU/GPU mining section of bitcoin is in the archived area of the forum. If you wish to mine altcoins and get help you can try in the altcoins section. If you continue to post about this in bitcoin your thread remains irrelevant in the bitcoin mining section and a moderator will eventually consider it offtopic enough to move to the archive area.

Better idea in testing basic mining stuff with a small money budget would be a stick miner or an outdated old miner like Antminer S3.

Sidehack here at the forum has for sale the Gekkoscience 2Pac -stick for example, check him out.

So.. is CPU/GPU mining an altcoin currency? I didnt know... I will take your advice then Haggs to check Geckoscience 2pac
