Yes altcoin trading is one of the best platform to make profit because it is very easy for you to make profit with that by just having a good amount of capital and having a good knowledge about altcoin trading. You can easily earn up to 10% if you do altcoin trading everyday and that is a lot way better than any investment site.

How do you know that short term trading will give you consistent profit every month? There will be times that you will not get anything from the market. If you are a skillful trader then maybe short term trading is for you. For the rest of us, it is safer to do long term investing.

For bitcoin i take it for long term because it has potential and few years has been passed but its still going stronger and like a digital gold. for altcoins i go for short term and i have to monitor it daily for changes of value, the income is not big but good enough.

I think the best is short term trade. You can make low profit everyday, but it's more secure, when you see the price isn't going in a good direction you can sell it fast and have a low loss that can be got back soon.
On long term trade you can have a big loss and it will be harder to get back the money you lost... The chance to see it working is lower.

Yeah but it can also fluctuate in the wrong direction. Better to buy and hold reliable alts IMO!

In fact, nobody should say such a thing that the long term trading or short term trading is better then each one.
It is because all is dependant on the type of the trader that is going into the market, some of those are playing on very short positions, and some are doing long-term investments.
Personally I like scalping, where i just set up the stop loss and take profit on 10 pips on forex, and on altcoin trading it is also easy to calculate it.
This technique is on 1minute time frame usually, you need to close your transaction as soon as possibile. I've been using it and as far, it works well for me.

Depends on peoples preference on how he want to see his profits its either for long term or short term but when you are preferring on trading altcoin then mostly itt would end up on long term basis because altcoin doesnt move just like on bitcoin.We never know on when to move but if you do have enough funds you can actually do both things short or long as long you do know how to trader on each method.

In general, we can't state the proper thing to do especially when dealing in an altcoin trades. Most of the altcoins are experiencing an intentional price movement resulting for heavy fluctuations so even a trader go for long or short, it can wrecked and destroy their trading strategy. And pointing to the coin potential, we will never know until we will put some money there and learn to find the answer by ourselves.

For now, Bitcoin is the only appropriate currency to deal with long term goals as we all know the answer here. There may be some alts that can considered for long term too but I will not state some of them as I don't want to assume all things. We are playing games here in the first place so learn how to deal with all the risk we will encountered.

I prefer only short time investments, especially with alts, as the price of altcoins that do not have big markets get dumped very soon. Most of them don't even last for 6 months and the price reaches below 100 sats easily if people only keep dumping their coins. With bitcoins it doesn't happen as there are large number of investors who keep the market going and the number of trades do not allow the coins to get dumped pretty soon.

Long term or short term will depend on how do I look on a certain coin.

Those coins that will put on the idea of long term holding are those coins who have been in the crypto world for long period of time and already established a correction price after their big price increase due to some manipulations or any related thing to that. On the other hand, coins that will put in the idea of short term are those altcoins that extremely having a heavy price volume per day. Examples are those new coins that is now become available at the exchanges after their crowdfunding.

In the end, we are the one who can decide how we will treat a certain coin whether for long or short term.

I want to assume that the altcoins you're referring to are those shitcoins with no aim/product/service. It was during the early days of crypto that Bitcoin clones coins were dumped that way. Right now, The altcoins is growing fast and It's even becoming more larger. I might be a daytrader but I know what coins can be profitable in the long run.

If I want to do short-term trading, I'd do that on yobit where majority of the listed coins are pump and dump coins. Aside from that, I hold coins backed by a solid team and good product for long-term.

For me, 3 years would be enough to wait and see where your investment goes. And 10 years is too long though to get back and profit. Well if you have extra money or if you are really rich, then investment in bitcoin for even 5 years would not be a problem. But for almost all of us who are middle income, 3 years would be suffice. Because we don't really know what the future brings, maybe down the line we have some kind of emergencies that we need to pull our investment because we need money.

By experience, I learned trading with long-term targets always getting me decent profits compared to day trading. I tried many times intra-day trading but most of the times, I just faced  losses, yes the short-term targets are not working at all for me.

There are many deciding factors for these, but I have concluded for crypto short-term target will not work in our way because identifying a right influencing factor is completely difficult compared to any other trading type. This may be true because there are only very few influencing factors are dominating and deciding the price movements of cryptos.

Usually I used strategy trading altcoins short term if the trend of price is down trend, i used candle chart 5M-15M,
 taking profit although just small profit because the price will be down for long time,
and i used long term strategy if the trend of price up trend, used candle chart 1D-1W because the price will goes up
for long time, so for me depend on the trend of price.
