I Don't know what made them choose to go with FTH,   FTC is the listing.

Does BBQCoin provide any real value other than being a bitcoin clone with a ridiculous name originally meant to designate the coin as a 'toycoin'?

I've always wondered that myself...

Not to worry, I have dispatched 100 of my finest researchers to investigate BBQCoin value thoroughly.

As you can see they are hard at work. The data they have gathered so far is phenomenal. In fact, my lead researcher has made a breakthrough that is more important than top secret information!!!

Great news!

BBQCoin Confirmed on Virexa.com exchange!
It's from the makers of VirCurEx.com so I think it has potential!

https://virexa.com

It's still beta, but VirCurEx has a good reputation.
They also confirmed FeatherCoin but it's not on the site yet.
I'm mining the crap out of FeatherCoin again!

Can we have some confirmation from Kumala on this. I am messaging him now about this, but other than a trivially similar appearance, I don't see where you are trying to seriously force this kind of cred on the venture.

Hi. Exchange looks nice! Could you please change BBQ to BQC? This is the official abbreviation that is used inside the client.

I vote for changing it to BBQ. Smiley

Yes, leave it as BBQ. BQC is stupid , non-obvious, plus then leaves BBQ as unable to be used at all because at a glance it so obviously is BBQ that it would not be useful to try to use it for anything else.

Whereas BQC could yet turn out useful for Black Queen Coins or Better Quality Coins or gosh knows what else in the future, with basically no chance of being mistaken at a glance for barbeque other possibly than in the weird minds of whatever idiots came up with the weird idea that somehow BQC brings to mind barbeque.

Why would Vircurex start another exchange for experimental alt coins? Vircurex IS the exchange for experimental alt-coins.  There isn't a coin they haven't put on it (of note). It wouldn't harm them in the slightest to add these coins and they wouldn't be needing to develop some new exchange that could only potentially risk their reputation if it gets hacked, compromised, etc.. I don't think Vircurex is more then a one man operation, why split the risk/energy?

Unless Kumala confirms it- I don't think it's a Vircurex operation.

I got it confirmed by the VirCurEx team (don't know how big this "team" is).
You have to take my word on that.

I also like how they call feathercoin FTH. So which abreviation is it, FC, FTC, or FTH? Tongue

Note to self: do not hardcode a dependency on currency symbols being 3 characters long...
Its FTH...    FC was Freicoin...  FTC is reserved for the FinancialTimesCoin...  at least FTH is like an abbreviation of FilthCoin

What exactly is BBQ coin?
It is similar to Tenebrix, that is, it is a coin that CPU miners were left undisturbed to mine for many many months before the GPU people came back and drove the difficulty back up again.

So like Tenebrix, and Bitcoin, it actually got to have a long long time for small miners, ordinary people who don't even have a GPU, to get some coins. It is thus a "fun" and "grass roots" coin, a coin of the ordinary people, or at least it used to be before the GPU people came back to it. But the CPU people had lots of time to pick up coin, so unlike with things like Feathercoin where they never even had a chance, this time around they actualy have some coin when finally the thing gets onto exchanges.

It looks a little right now as if GPUs might be coming back to Tenebrix, too, so very soon the era of CPU mining for that too might finally end, maybe. (Lets hope the GPUs leave it alone a few more months though, as a lot of newbies without GPUs are still arriving, it is nice for there to still be, all this time, a coin they can effectively mine.)

It does resemble Crypto::Stocks, which is also by kumala.  But I will also wait for confirmation.  The registration posted below your comment only proves both domains are registered using the same privacy service.

Kumala is usually pretty open about vcx/crypto stocks activities, so it is odd that he would start a third operation without announcing it.  (Maybe there's been an announcement I haven't seen, yet.)

Cool, Kumala confirmed a relationship.

That is not what I see. I just see some forum handle posting claims and some other forum handle accepting the claim without as far as I know any clearly explained or demonstrable reason.

But how many confirmations do you need in order to be secure?  Why is it 6?  The number 6 has some extensive computations backing it up in the Satoshi whitepaper.  With most altcoins the difficulty is very modified to get these different intervals, meaning 6 one minute confirmations are not likely to be as secure as 6 ten minute confirmations.

FTC is no longer a low hashrate altcoin...

There's a miner with 139 Mh/s on Dontmine.me's FTC pool... Says it's not a botnet... Incredible...

So yeah, FTC is growing fast... Impressive, exciting times people... I certainly regret not having more GPU power available...

I knew this would happen at some point.

FTC's price to difficulty ratio got so insane that it became feasible for somebody to rent a buttload of EC2 instances and point them at the FTC network. It should go away after the difficulty increase ... I think.
