I've been using Bitcoin before it was cool
I don't ever remember a transaction taking so long. It has been 3+ hours, my VPN subscription payment is long overdue. Is anybody else having this issue?
If you're going to moan about how I should pay more fees, then please don't waste your time by posting

Honestly higher fees are just a workaround. What really needs to be done is we need a larger block and we need the Blockchain spamming to stop. Someone has an agenda to get their version of a larger block activated but I'm not sure who to blame.
Technically yes, you needed a higher fee but that's only because bitcoins as a whole right now are waiting for a solution. If the pissing contests could end we would already have a solution.

Thanks for your input. Do you know the average time for a transaction? I sent the same amount I have been using for a year by accident (around 42 cents in BTC)

On an average bitcoin transaction now really needs a bigger fee to get faster confirmation. Because as the price is peaking the buy nd sell orders have increased much which is the key factor for much lagging in the transaction on the network.

It really normal to take hours in making a transaction with so many transactions happening every split second maybe it's a valid reason to just be patient by the ways i have no issue in receiving i always receive any transaction but it take hours but that's fine. In my bitcoin wallet you can pay high fee for a fast transactions but i always take the fee even it take 12hours.

use a bitcoin wallet that is capable of suggesting a proper fee for you to get a fast transaction. stop using whatever you are using if it does not. read more about how much fee is appropriate based on mempool size here: https://bitcoinfees.21.co/blockcyphey also has a neat suggestion: https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/

Blockchain transaction's time depend on its fee and its amount. The lesser the amount of btc, the longer of time it would get confirmed and the larger the btc being processed, the shorter it would get confirmed since you will pay higher fees in larger amount of btc being transacted.

Use https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/And put your transaction id there to get confirmation faster if you like. But this doesn't ensure your transaction will be confirmed soon, you have to wait till viabtc will mine next block.

You are worried about 3 hours delay. But i sent 0.05 btc to my localbitcoins account witha transaction fees of 0.0007 btc.Three days have gone.Still it has not reached.I dont know how many more days i would have to wait for.Every day, atleast for ten times,i use to check up whether transaction has been completed or not.We should never lose hope in life.So i hope that atleast it would get confirmed today.

But this doesn't ensure your transaction will be confirmed soon, you have to wait till viabtc will mine next block. That tool actually doesn't really help that much, it's always full and when people are in the emergence of waiting for the confirmation and currently having the bills which are timed, then the tool will be useless. The only way is to set up a fee and above current recommendation so it'll be included in the block ASAP overtaking the rest which has below fees.

This happens every time the bitcoin price goes up. I think that this is a way to reduce speculation bubbles with the bitcoin price, but it isn`t very convenient for the average user.

No doubt that fees in the bitcoin transaction is increases to about 10 times that was about one to two years ago because in the current time everyone has the competition to confirm his payment or transaction as much as possible so due to this reason they are paying high and no doubt that the miners gives the preference for the confirmation of the transaction that have high fee payment . Now just forget anything , if you paid 0.0001btc for the transaction fee then don't worry . Just go at viabtc.com and out your transaction id and write the captcha words in the box and then click submit and now wait for 1 hours , surely 1 to 2 confirmation will done . Best of luck .

No.
The amount of time it takes to receive a confirmation is directly related to the willingness of the user to compete with other users hoping to append the block chain in a timely fashion.
It will only take ages if you aren't very competitive.

If you aren't the sole controller of your private keys, you don't have any bitcoins.

You can always look at here https://bitcoinfees.21.co/. Same thing on where BurtW said, taking a look on those guidelines will surely help you up on what would be the recommended fees on each transaction you would wait.If you end up paying below then expect confirmation would really be long compared on paying up the average or even high. One thing that do affect slow confirmation times even you up high fees is the spam attack on the network which really piss me off.

One block of BTC about 10 minutes, but now there are many transactions waiting for the number of transactions increased rapidly, you want to confirm your transaction is early, you have to use a reasonable fee!

Yes, my recent transaction took almost 24 hours to get confirmed and that too after requesting that transaction to viaBTC transaction accelerator. I am against paying high fees because I believe that there should be a concrete long-term solution if we really want to address this critical issue. Bitcoin has a very good opportunity to grow in next few years but such things are kind of obstacles in the growth of bitcoin, imo.

Yeah the transaction confirmation and high fees is a problem nowadays core devs must do a solution regarding this problem now :/ or else bitcoin is the most slowest and expensive payment method in the world.
Here is my situation happened few days ago: Few days ago, I sent 0.01 btc to bitvest (which I gamble most of the time) and pay a little fee I think it's 80 satoshi per byte and It took a day and a half to confirm my transaction with viabtc txaccelerator.

It's not about the price of bitcoin but about the users that keep making bitcoin transactions and the miners can't keep up with the amount so the transactions stack up causing a slow confirmation time. Do you know the average time for a transaction? I sent the same amount I have been using for a year by accident (around 42 cents in BTC)
Average time for a transaction to confirm is 46 minutes. Source : https://blockchain.info/charts/avg-confirmation-time
