You should ask these questions in the Collectibles sub-forum. Pictures of said coins will help. I assume by what you wrote that they're not graded, nor protected. That will decrease its price considerably. Can't really tell you about a), I've been away from the collectibles section for quite some time. As for b), yes, but don't expect to get a huge premium for that.

Hi...I am relatively new in this forum but not new to Bitcoin and its concept. A few years back I bought a Casascius bitcoin 2011 error 2011-09-08 02:35:15 . According to the site this is the second day loading of such coins. The guy who sold it to me said he was given this coin for free at a convention on bitcoin when they were still novelty items. Not in mint condition but good. My question is.. a) what is something like this worth above the value of the loaded bitcoin market value? b) Does the value matter that this was one of the very first 100 coins made by Mike Caldwell? I also have a silver gold plated 1BTC loaded 2013-12-14 04:13:04 ....meaning this is one of the very last if not the last loaded by Mike before he said it would shut down on the 27th November. I bought this one directly from Mike and was afraid that I would not get it since he was shutting down operations. So I was lucky he came thru! Any feedback would help. Thanks Hi there, and welcome to the forum! That Casascius Error Coin will depend entirely on value. As you are a new member, you cannot yet post pictures, but please take photo's of both sides of the coin and upload them to a site such as Imgur, and post the links here - we will be able to give you more accurate information then. To answer: a) Currently, around 1 BTC extra. Depends entirely on condition. b) Yes, I would say that it being one of the first 100 would make it slightly more desirable to collectors - again, this depends entirely on condition, so pictures are needed. That 1 BTC Casascius Silver Gilt is also worth around the 2 BTC mark ungraded. Again, pictures will be required here please. Please come back with that info, and we will be happy to help further!

Personally i would like one of the first 100 coins produced by mike. I think that is an added bonus, although first day funding would fetch higher. I think there are collectors that do like the first run added bonus to a coin. But like everyone else said, based on condition and if these things were just handed around then i imagine it has some wear to it.

The value? 2BTC+. The series 2 from 2011 is far more rare and is starting to command a higher premium (as it should). But the error is cool and since it was first produced there are lot of original owners that have probably disregarded/lost these coins or didn't treat them as collectible and they're in worse condition.
The premium for an first 100 made? Absolutely...and obviously you can prove the sequence within which it was funded.
Pictures would help.
Congratulations to you!

I have also three 2011 loaded in December 2011 are those the series 2 you pointed out?
We'd need to see pictures to be certain. But for you, the series 2 have a different hologram and structure of the first bit letters (they aren't dotmatrix like the series 1). And most importantly the series 2 doesn't mis-spell Casascius as "Casacius". In this great resource ( https://coinfirm.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Casascius-eBook-Plus-2.pdf) compare the image on page 82 (2011 series 1) with the image on page 85 (2011 series 2).

I am trying to upload pic but cannot... It seems I cannot load image. How do I do that??
You can't upload pictures I'm afraid, its because your account is new. As your activity increases and you get to Junior Member (if memory serves) then you can post pics that have been uploaded to Imgur/etc. For now, you just need to post the links for the coins, and someone will post the pictures for you

Thanks for asking..Not selling any..curious to find what they would go for.
Your best move is to have them graded by ANACS. Once you have grades it is easy to put prices on them.

I have sent them a lot more coins than what you have here. Just use registered mail to ship them and you are fine. If you need help filling out the form or have more questions just ask me!

Hello Blazed, regarding the ANACS grading submissions, any specific instructions we need to include on the form? Will they write exactly what notes we write on the slab's label? Thank you.

I am also looking to add a Titan in my collection. Where would the best place be to acquire one? I have checked their website but have not received any responses.
Which type are you after ? There have been a number of releases. Both different metals and denominations.

Legendary..when filling out the form..what value do you put down for the coin? Current BTC market price? Of course the higher the value I place the more I need to pay for certification. Any help is appreciated..Thankyou in advance ANACS limits the value stated of any physical cryptocurrency coin to $100 (due to their return shipping insurances). They also limit the total value stated to be $5k accross all coins. I generally put down $100 per coin, unless I send in slightly more than 50 (and need to tweak it down a bit)

Thanks for the response...so they only insure up to $100...if the coin is lost then? Can you ask to insure to whatever the market value of BTC say x2?
Any additional insurance you would need to find yourself, ANACS wouldnt provide it. Its something I have never done. Incidentally, ANACS dont do the insurance through the courier, they have a separate policy and insure directly ANACS usually use door to door single couriers (ie USPS priority within the US, and Fedex internationally), although the last batch I have had back from them they used USPS internationally ... so unsure if they are changing how they do that If you speak to them, they may well let you arrange for your own return courier, in which case you could book the required level of insurance directly with them. All that said .... I doubt you would get any courier paying out for any bitcoin value. They generally exclude currencies as being insurable. So why pay extra for insurance that wouldnt pay out anyways My advice is get a door to door courier like Fedex or UPS do both shippings. The quality of those companies means you dont need insurance. Tracked from pickup to delivery, full chain of custody, no 3rd party hand offs.

As blazed said use registered usps mail. Its another $15 but the package is under lock and key all the way through. Whoever touches it has to sign, you can send classified docs this way. Ive shipped registered usps many times around the world and never a glitch. Only thing is usps sucks at tracking so they might not update the website but you can always go into your local office with the registered number and they can tell you where its been last....or you can call....which i hate waiting so i just go in. Either way you are as safe as possible that route
