Windows update broke rig. Anyone else have this issue?

Hey guys, I did the driver trick to get all six of my rx 570 gpus up and all worked swell for a week. Today after the latest windows update for windows defender (and I guess windows itself, I'm not sure) everything broke. I'm trying to re-install the drivers using the same method I did originally.

Is anyone else having a similar problem? At this point I'm saying fuck it and getting some sleep because this is driving me mad.

1) yes I did ddu, re installed the modified driver and now can only get up to 4 cards working. When I plug in the 5th and the mobo recognizes it, it 'installs' the device but then black screens, so I reboot and then get a dll error when claymore opens.

2) I'm an idiot and didn't turn off auto update.

on windows 10 you cant stop it from updating , tried registry hacks disabling the update service everything, once a rig reboots everything goes back to how it was so fucking anoying

The reg edit hack works for me. I looked up my Windows Update logs and it stopped with the updates the day it was applied.

This windows update to APRIL 2017 driver is KILLING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pulling out all my hair....

make a folder  mining   put it on the desktop


open it  put a folder  in it  protected software.



open windows defender    and exclude :


  protected software


boot
restart
come back to windows defender check that protected software is excluded

then exclude   mining

boot restart

check both folders are excluded


then download  mining software  and extract it to  protected software.

also if windows 10    do the tricks to stop updates.

and if they fail  you still are excluded from windows defender.

I do not advocate hurting people  but windows defender programmers deserve a kic in the but.

I got to it before 3 of my rigs updated.

Wasn't so lucky with 2 others.

I have them of them working with only 5 cards. Only seeing 5 out of 7 cards even in the bios.

Any ideas?

yap me too..
all 470 rig and 570, need to disable update in services, and disable driver update in system.
then uninstall with ddu, and install the mod driver and patch again

Shitty part is, I had it disabled and somehow it still installed an update.

For now I cant dual mine on it. Even worse, after DDU, reinstalling drivers, I ran the pixel patcher and it now only sees 5 out of my 6 GPU's and still I have been unable to fix this.

So much for disabling updates.

I got the exact same problem. I already specify that hardware must not be updated in advance system settings. Still do not work

only thing that works is the show hide update tool. Immedialy after you unload the shitty driver run that tool and disable the next time it will try to update

Only minuts after writing I am down to 5 cards I am now down to 4 cards. One card is suddenly giving a code 43. What are they doing @ windows? They want to push miners away from their software??

 Just standard Microsoft long-standing issue with marketing running the company, and thinking they know what the users want better than THE USERS THAT CONSTANTLY COMPLAIN ABOUT THEIR STUPID IDEAS AND OTHER IDIOCY know what they want.

 How many YEARS - or is it DECADES now - have users been bitching about "auto update causing problems" - and Micro$loth just keeps blowing those complaints off?


 IMO miners should avoid Windows like the plague it has pretty much always been.

For disabling windows autoupdate just use this tool:

If you hide update of your card from the list of tool, windows will not intsall it anymore. Just run the tool, press next, find necessary driver and hide it...

Than:
 -- With DDU uninstall all GPU driver
-- reinstall the stable version ( I used 16.9.2 on my two 6x GPU RX 480 rigs)

This seems to be working. I just tried it. I don't know what will happen next.

What I did to fix it
ran the hide tool from windows
Then ddu all my drivers
Then got the latest amd driver installed (17.5.1)
Then ran the patcher
Everything was okay again.
