Not the very best time to hold altcoins, atleast not till bitcoin shows positive signs of reversal and getting out of bear, which now some people think will last till 2019 atleast. However there are always a few coins one can buy for long term, couple of them would be zcash and etc imo.

If i will be investing on altcoins then ethereum will be my only choice because the market price before has already reached $1k dollar so i can expect that ethereum do really have the potential to grow even more in the future.

I believe a lot of people will get hurt once the golden era for alt investment is over, but there will be a large number of alts that beat the trend and thrive to new heights.

As for how many of us are holding alts? I don't know the answer I only know that the number is increasing every day, see Poloniex's statement on the increase in traffic they have received over the last few months.

I have purchased Ripple which has an ever-increasing development. so I bought it to make a much bigger profit by holding it to reach further development to make the price so high and will be able to benefit me in the future.

As of now I am buying ethereum altcoin and I am holding it for a while , because the market is on downfall situations and the price value of coins is low ,so I go for hold of my ethereum altcoin, I am prefered with ethereum for I like those kind of coins especially in the trading sites for it is used as exchange for new token in the trading sites.
