As we all Know Ethereum has Spiked almost 50% in last few days.

freeimagehost

I am speculating that they are about to announce move to POS from POW hence the spike.

I can't think of any other reason why the spike is happening.

Can people think of any other reasons?

Please share.

In last two to three days it has gone up almost 100$. It is nice profit and whoever owns more of this coins will surely make more profit than having bitcoin in near to longer term. Since bitcoin fee also went up so many smaller transactions also will be done using these altcoins. I'm just having around 10 of these coins and will keep it for another one to two years.

EEA formed, for now 80+ members. EEA works on ethereum as the default blockchain, therefore these companies will invest trillions $ to further develop ethereum and make applications for it, depending on their needs ( private, interoperable, public ).

Are you 5 years old ?

There is no reason why the price doubled.
All the coins are going up.. no matter how shitty they are.

So is BTC @ $2,200 right now.

Hell i looked and i have $85 in BTC on Bittrex right now and i literally did nothing at all.

I guess its too late for the investor to invest because the ethereum i guess will continue to growth its price rate in the coming year and potentially become a alternative currency for bitcoin as its continue pumping in the market. Too late because you cant buy a big volume of eth but you can still invest.

Crypto as a whole started to get the attention of traditional investors from outside this space. Even though random joes still don't know what ethereum is, billionaire investors and hedge funds are starting to notice it. Funny, as a comparison to bitcoin; random joes went first into bitcoin, poor and average people were most of the first investors. With ethereum is the opposite, first important people find about it, then the triple cheeseburger eaters.

Several firms are coming into the ETH alliance. This makes it more popular among the people easily. Also who completely depend on digital currency for all sort of transaction will move towards ETH as the value has increased as well the transaction issues were not big.

There are many ETH miners who want to pay off their rig they brought so, still you can buy eth and its never too late to invest

Just waiting for mother of all crashes who knows maybe it won't happen because people are invested big time with hardware and mining facilities that they won't sell it any cheaper than mining cost.

Spectiv Crowdsale: December 8th

Ethereum has a lot of important pieces going for it, like the convention, the future change to POS, etc... Most importantly though is the rise of Ethereum token crowdsales. Buyers are buying up so much Ether to participate in crowdsales like Storj and Aragon recently, ultimately making Eth prices go up.

IBM already abandoned Ethereuim long ago, also no big banks using Eth, most of them already with Ripple boat. I expecting Microsoft and others lemming companies to abandon soon.

MS = they simply allowed people to add a coin system to their Azure server platform.
..if you paid your Azure bill $$$  Cheesy

That is some sleazy ass news they spammed hard way back.
And it was funny when i predicted it would get copied and then how it did HAHAHHAHA
All of a sudden all these other gay little shitty ICO coins were jumping on the Azure bandwagon saying "Microsoft is using XYZ coin"

Polonibox was recording it all when staff banned me from the chat box for disputing it way back.
Apparently it was "FUD" ..not the truth.

They are sleazy ass bullshit.
I stopped having respect for Polo (Monero Scammers Central) a long looooong time ago.

I have some Ethereum but I see it as an extremely risky investment long term. Sure it could keep going up, but what exactly are we investing in ?

If you think you are investing in the business models (DAO's) that run on it, think again. As far as those are concerned the blockchains are interchangeable. What happens when a successful DAO decides it wants to move to the next latest and greatest platform - be it Tezos, Rootstock, Ether Classic, whatever ? No problem ! They just create new tokens on the competing chain and supply them on a 1 to 1 exchange basis for the 'old' ones.

Thats the problem with these smart contract chains. There's an airgap between the base token and the real value source.

That airgap isn't there with the monetary blockchains. If you own Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dash, Monero, Dogue, Peercoin, Unobtanium, Jackpotcoin you own it because the coin itself has value. There ain't no replacing it with another chain because it ain't itself any more. Whereas with a DAO token, you can move it to another chain and it's STILL itself.

I therefore regard these smart contract tokens with extreme caution when it comes to holding them as store of value. Monetary tokens can keep going up forever. Smart contract tokens can have the value drained out of them one day by a competing technology and for it never to come back. Consider investing in electronic typewriters in the 1970's. You'd have made a lot of money as long as you got out at some point. But if you held till the end of the 80's you'd be broke. Meanwhile if you'd held precious metal throughout you'd be fine.

Therefore the general rule is:

Monetary Blockchain Tokens: Real Gold
Smart contract Blockchain Tokens: Fools Gold

Smart Contract blockchain tokens = the 'Electronic Typewriter Shares' of the 21st century Wink
