I hope someone still reads this. In 2017 I was hacked by visiting a phishing site on Poloniex. Couldn't do anything about it back then but now I see this forum and was wondering if it's the same hacker. Also saw some people in this forum got their money back?

Sorry to hear you got scammed but his thread is about a specific scam from several years ago so
your post is out of context.

In your case consider it an expensive lesson learned. There is the technical problem of identifying an
individual or organisation that owns that address, then jurisdictional problems if the individual lives in another
country, then the legal problems of proving the money is rightfully yours. Even if that was all successgul you still
wouldn't have your money back, assuming it is yours in the furst place, all you'd have is a legal judgement.
Then you would have to try to collect. There's no technical way to confiscate it, it can only be moved by
someone with the wallet key. If the key is lost the money is gone forever, just like what happened with QuadrigaCX.
