p2p pool

Hello.I just got p2p setup as written here--> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=18313.0 but it's really confusing to choose a pool because information in this is forum is vast and it's hard to catch up with what's happening and settle somewhere.BTC/LTC or FTC after all? I understand p2p is low miner friendly but i'm not sure what the options are.
I mine 4fun (60/100 mh/s) but seek stability at last.
Any help/suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The easiest BTC mining POOL to use is https://bitminter.com/
Just resister, then click the Engine Start button.

If you have P2Pool up and running you are already connected to a pool, it just takes longer to receive payments through that network but works very well. If your interested in more regular payments, you could try BTCGuild as they do PPS as well as PPLNS. If you go with those you don't necessarily need your P2Pool set up, just a miner.

Yeah, bitminter is the easiest to get started with.

If you setup p2pool, then the logical choice would be to mine on your own p2pool server.

You will always need a miner to mine Bitcoins...the only question is, do you use somebody elses pool to connect to, or do you run your own P2Pool node which "acts" like a pool server but just connects you into a large decentralized network.

By your first post it looks like you have set up your own P2Pool server which is like "mining your own server".

If this isn't working you could try connecting to my P2Pool server(sorry, shameless plug!) by just putting this into the URL part of the miner : http://mining.harvestcoin.com:9332 and then as username put in your Bitcoin address.

If you'd like to use another pool I would suggest following the advice by Pentel above to try Bitminter...very easy to use.

Thanks for the replies. I settled on bitminter. The lack of specialized mining hardware simply sets off limits other choises!
