No doubt about it: Canary Islands! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canary_Islands

- Good weather all year due to microclimates.
- It belongs to the European Union: great stability and safety.
- Very cheap flights to and from Spain for residents: you can go on holidays to the Balear Islands (Mallorca, Ibiza...), Barcelona, Seville, etc. for a good price.
- Very touristic, there live lots of foreigners (British, French, German, American...).
- Special tax system.
- Great natural, cultural, leisure and gastronomic offer.

Take a look at it, it deserves a little research  Roll Eyes

Edit: at least, it would be my choice if I was economically independent.

I posted here about Canada, but I agree with you. Canary Islands and Spain in general would be a good choice. One of my friends spends couple of months each year in Barcelona and I always hear only good things about the place.

It's interesting to hear from the OP what he has chosen finally. Smiley

Guys, i made a small fortune in altcoin/bitcoin. In which country should i settle ?
I have no wife, no kids, just a girlfriend, i´m free to go wherever i want (she´ll go with me).
But it has to be a bitcoin-friendly country.
I have no intention to buy lambos, just a peaceful life.
Thanks.

Oh, and my age is 53, that makes a difference too.
Go to my country which is the Philippines and I will show you how beautiful here. It is peaceful here, landmarks, beaches, have a fresh air. You don't need to look further. The temperature was okay, people were okay too. We are very hospitable in the visitors. We treat them special like a VIP. It has a bitcoin-friendly, you can use your bitcoin anywhere here. Our government doesn't care about this issue.

I mean, with a nickname as yours "ilovefeetsmell", you can´t be possibly right, up there. Well, my nick isn´t better much Smiley

Philippines.

Get a beach house, or live in the city, or get a few acres of land ... Put a wall around it. Hire security or bodyguards.
When you have kids, hire a nanny for each. Send them to private schools.
Cash out in 2 or 3 major exchanges, or make it a daily routine to sell to locals.

But, don't do drugs.

A relatively large 3 to 5 bedroom, 2 or 3 car garage home, with a swimming pool, in a gated community will set you back about 10 to 20 million pesos, or 200k USD to 400k USD.

*edit* at 53, expect to live to maybe 83 ? so that's 30 years. You better have at least 1000 BTC (at today's prices) if you want to be comfortable without too much additional work. Get a token job for income tax purposes, but usually the government will leave you alone if you blend in.

That's 3 BTC per month for 30 years, more or less. Don't exceed that budget. You wouldn't unless you do something stupid. Just be smart about it. As a foreigner, you might spend more on local food (coconuts?) but just tip the waiters an extra 10~15% and you will get excellent service most of the time.

All gas stations are full-service, by the way. You can't gas the car yourself, they won't let you. Hire a chauffeur / driver for $300 USD per month. Double that amount if he acts as armed bodyguard.

I agree with you that living in the Philippines is cheap and compared to the first world countries you can live your life in this country without spending too much. Even just your payouts from the signature campaign can already feed you three times a day and can pay your rent in a boarding house. As long as you stay simple Philippines is the best choice.

OP needs to answer at least two questions:

1. Citizenship and legal or residency status in any other country, (do you have a green card or it's equivalent)
2. How much is your bitcoin stash? No need to give exact amount, just an idea. 100? 1000? Can you buy a pizza? (10k)? Do you have more bitcoins than Roger Ver claims? (300k) ?

the op has no interest in answering these questions. i think he's an amateur geographer who enjoys collecting opinions about countries around the world.

He doesn't have to answer it publicly in this forum or any other. These are questions he should ask himself.

So far he has implied less than pizza money (10k), but with more than 1000 BTC you can figure out where to live, while taking vacations one country to another every 3 to 5 months (don't stay longer than 6 months, and you probably are not allowed to anyway.)

Perhaps make it a goal: A list of countries to explore. Visit every wonder of the world, ancient and modern.

Everyone else who keeps saying Philippines, OP has already ruled it out. Yes we love our own country, but let him choose where he wants to go.

He should have come up with a contingency plan, and I think he just likes any idea for a last moment of choices and besides OP really wants to settle it in a peaceful place with his girlfriend, and just like you said sir Dabs a list of countries he might want to explore first is a best idea and I think a first hand experience with the beautiful places on the world is a must done,

Although living conditions are good here, low spending and friendly bitcoin, the country is no longer peaceful. They are facing the risk of war, recently they have been terrorized, which makes their country no longer a safe country, this country should not be proposed.

Japan may be a decent spot to live in, yet in the event that you don't have the foggiest idea, 2 back to back catastrophic events occurred in Japan, first is the torrent that nearly cut down Japan, and the second one which is the current one is the tremor that breaks numerous boulevards at Japan. In spite of the fact that regardless I suggest Japan, the general population there are incredible thus damn kind, their administrations are great and they are utilized to nonnatives going by their nation

  Barcelona

You can't go wrong with Barcelona. I'll be visiting this glorious city for the second time next month and I can say it has everything you'll ever need.

Beaches = Top notch plus no sharks
Weed = Legal in cafés
Drink = Good ol' Sangria is still rocking people's socks off
Girls = The best
Night Life = You bet
Wanna calm lifestyle = Just get a house a few miles away from the center.
Natural Beatuies = Awesome

Negatives;

A bit pricey as they use EURO currency but won't matter for you since you are already rich.

You don't have to live here you know. We only proposed it because we actually do. It's as safe as you make it, just like anywhere else. You shouldn't really rely on government for anything. I count at least half a million people, who have net worth above a million dollars each, living here. Everyone else is either middle class or in poverty, but that's not something you can fix easily.

Any country that risks war with us, risks a long and protracted war. We kicked out everyone who ever wanted to colonize us. Although there was a Japanese soldier that was living in the mountains who thought WW2 was not over for about 30 years.

I will suggest Australia, its very peaceful and the indigenous people there live for a long time. They age on the average about 80 before death and so you'll have your peace of mind over there while you live out the rest of your life.

To actually retire from BTC and live in a good 1st world country or so, you would at least require a million dollar or more, around 500 BTC with a BTC price of $2000, and even with that it would hardly be a life of luxury... Anyhow I would choose Canada considering how good the community, weather, people, everything else compared even to Europe and US.

Very well said, this is supposed to recommend to him on living on Philippines considering the value of Bitcoin it is really good and you can really make a living on it on this country. Budgets above been mentioned is good but I think those are luxurious too which I can able to cost cutting in able to minimize spending without necessary needs.

Australia and japan have great assessment regolation for BTC, Europan and Canada too are freindly witch BTC. Australia and Japan is so costly, if u need work here there is a considerable measure of chance, if u don't need work i propose europe becouse is extremely shoddy before Japan or Australia... Italy Spain and Portugal can be great decision yet in the nation u require attempt the ideal place for u lifestile Holland, Germany and Crotia too are modest however in the event that u need live like a lord u can think a place like Greek or Hungary. In the event that u lean toward and Island u can consider Cyprus

Don't forget volcanos and earthquakes. But I guess it comes down to where you were born, eventually you'd want to be buried there, if possible, even if you don't live there the last days or years of your life.

And evil mosquitoes (and whatever else could be hiding and waiting there)

There is another aspect which you didn't make particularly clear, i.e. which kind of life you actually need. You said you are 53, this is indeed not the same as 23 (though this is still less extreme than the other extreme) but it is not 83 either (the other extreme). Basically, at 53 people can lead a rather shameless (or should I really say shameful?) life provided they are healthy overall, which is not rare at that age. So what do you mean by peaceful life actually?

Oh, and my age is 53, that makes a difference too.

You need to do some traveling around the world to experience different cultures and environments and see how you feel.  Regardless of what anyone recommends here, different places around the world suit different people.

Are you willing to learn a new language?  If not, that will narrow your potential countries greatly.

Having traveled to 18 countries so far, I would likely choose Bali.  But I personally wouldn't choose a place to "settle".  If you prefer something else in the future, why restrict yourself to a single place?
