The only way to get more $ into the Ripple system that I know of at the moment is through Bitstamp, which kind of sucks and is likely not to be trusted, good luck.

what's interesting about ripple is the social capital aspect. if governments gave their own backing for bitcoin. the affect would be astounding.

I've heard many things about ripple not being good because of a for-profit company behind them, however the only reason I got interested in them was because of offers here where people were paying 1 btc for 9000 or 10,000 of them.

I'm not a big fan of bitstamp and/or wiring $ to Slovenia.

Is it possible to buy XRP with Ripple without having any XRP? If not, what's the proper way for users who don't qualify for the giveaways to bootstrap their accounts?

by begging... on your knees man! haha... Buy, steal or borrow some bitcoin, then buy ripple from someone off bitmit, get it transferred to your new ripple wallet. Easy as...

try bitstamp, but the price is $1 = 50 ripples. You can buy cheap in the marketplace if you have bitcoins or ltc.
