This has been a long back news. Russia after taking back the ban levied on bitcoin usage within the country made plans of using bitcoin to be the platform to make the financial system perfect. So one among the largest retailer of Russia accepting bitcoin doesn't looks to make impact on the price.

Allowing something to exist does not encourage it, and a few merchants accepting it in addition to fiat does not indicate adoption at all.

this is not a process to happen overnight. and that means "allowing something to exist" is the first step of many follow up steps in direction of mass adoption. there currently are a lot of merchants, small or big, wanting to accept bitcoin or add bitcoin payment option, but since it is not regulated they are hesitant.
and the same goes with users. many are hesitant because bitcoin is not regulated or many do it because someone from government said bitcoin should be banned and they are scared now!

in the end when things like this happen, slowly the tide turns. it may start with some smaller things but it will lead to bigger ones eventually.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Russia?
No.

A payment processor from Russia and not even on of the top 3.
And to make things worse,  ChronoPay is probable the worst of them.

And it's founder and owner ...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavel_Vrublevsky

Bitcoin doesn't need this kind of hype anymore.
It's not 2013 to cheer every time a shop accepts bitcoin.

I'll open another beer if I see Putin taking payments for the s400 in bitcoins.

Who wants S400 to pay with bitcoin?
When will you people learn?
Putin/ Trump/ Queens and Kings they all are just a face, they're the puppets, only the minority with military power are controlling everything.
But let me assure you, bitcoin is strong as it is with the support of individuals around the world.
As long as people willing to pay for it and accept it as a digital currency we don't really need anything else for that matter.
The important thing is that we have seen it and supporting the idea behind it, that's it we just have to wait for everyone else to see and have an experience like us.

Just hearing in the wires that Russians largest payment processor will be accepting BTC payments imminently. It's already been coded. Go live within days.

Updates to follow...

It is a big news since the one that will be accepting bitcoin is one of the superpowers in the world. Russia is a big country and is one of the leading economies in the world thus if they will accept bitcoin it will play a major role and a huge impact in the markets value. For sure we will be seeing another price spike one of these days. 2017 really is a great year for bitcoin.

This is good news happening but I personally won't want to go ahead of myself too much even though there is link to the reference for such information. The reason why I won't is because when it comes to such massive adoption that would likely shake the direction of prices, then time is needed for adequate preparation in which several contingencies might even arise at the point of implementation when it comes to the political class.

But once Russian declares that they are accepting means definitely there is a small impact on the price. After Japan, Russian is one of the biggest countries were ready to accept bitcoin as legal in their country. Even they those oppose but surely it will impact on the market.

It is a rapidly spreading phenomenon, and although we all saw it coming, I am still shocked at the way bitcoin is being adopted world wide.  WoW!

Same here, I'm never expected that bitcoin's value able increase so fast !
I found logical reason that cause bitcoin value increased which is Japanese accept bitcoin officially.
So if Rusia also accept bitcoin , there will be a huge demand of bitcoin and ofcourse every bitcoin holder know what will happen on bitcoin value on the future

Another type of big news for bitcoin and if the market smells this kind of news then the price will spike up again and that is one of the greatest time when we are going to have a high price and soon if this kind of news will continue and if russia will continue to full implement bitcoin then bitcoin will touch at least 3500 USD for the price.

That's nice that Russia will accept Bitcoins but will it effect the price I doubt, last I heard was that Russia was against Bitcoin, then they decided to regulated it. And now they adopt it, you can't trust these news until they are followed in action. Plus I don't think that Russians have that huge market share that will effect Bitcoins. So I don't see any moment on the Bitcoin front, rather it will remain stable as it be or a small hike. Plus even if Russian do accept it, there will be lot of conditions on it, so would like everyone to be bit cautious about this.

A country doesn't "adopt" Bitcoin until a large number of people begin using it, regularly, as an alternative to fiat currency.

Allowing something to exist does not encourage it, and a few merchants accepting it in addition to fiat does not indicate adoption at all.

Any price rises which happen from this would just be empty speculation, not based on actual users.

I do not agree with you. If some of your bigger payment processors show enough confidence to publicly announce that they are going to accept Bitcoin as a payment option, then the smaller merchant will follow. We normally see the smaller merchants taking the lead with something new, but this is a significant move from the bigger players. ^smile^

The same thing happened in Japan, and the wheel started to turn.
Chronopay don't actually say anything about Bitcoin on their website.  Furthermore, Japan's "adoption" has not happened yet either.  We were promised a lot about "adoption", but we are genuinely talking about one or two individual firms accepting Bitcoin as a secondary option to fiat, and there's no indication that those stores actually get a lot of Bitcoin payments.

The main thing that shows adoption is actual statistics of companies that have accepted Bitcoin and how many of their payments are in Bitcoin.  Until we get that kind of statistic, a company accepting Bitcoin as a secondary/tertiary means of payment is meaningless.

The article is a bit odd, why did he hate Crypto with a passion, but now suddenly without explanation, he likes it?
Increasing market access is always a good thing, real big news would be in countries traded in Bitcoin instead of the petrodollar (yes I read Zerohedge), but I don't see that happening any time soon/ever.

I always thought that Russia was strongly against Bitcoin, it is good to see a new market opening.

Exciting news, after many months of resisting, they are finally ceding. It's all driven by Chronopay. Clients of ChronoPay include high-profile media outlets like the Moscow Times and Kommersant, cellular service providers which operate on a federal level and dozens of leading charitable organizations like WWF, Greenpeace, Tele2 and WWF. This would be very good for bitcoins popularity and trading.  A much needed and welcome development. I suspect the price would receive more bumps in the next few days.

I live in Russia, first they wanted to punish up to 5 years in prison behind BTC, and then decided to legitimize, but the government wants to find out who owns the purses (!!!). Think, they want to know who and to whom sends BTC!!!

There's no need to panic i guess,  Bitcoins will reach every single country without having any problem. It will become traditional currency in any way just like fiat but with flexible value.
