And why do you think bitcoin is being surpassed be Eth, could you please elaborate in more detail? In twenty four hours ethereum trading volumes passed bitcoin trading according to data from CoinMarketCap on tuesday. But I don't think that is sufficient "proof" that bitcoin is less popular all of a sudden. If Eth sustains higher trading volumes over a longer period, then maybe we can say Eth is provably more popular than bitcoin.  It is nowhere near it for now.

Because the BTC/ETH market cap ratio continues to shrink by the day.
I don’t think we need to worry that much, what I mean is that is natural that bitcoin will lose some ground, when cryptocurrencies first started bitcoin did not have too much competition, most of the competition were nothing but copies of bitcoin but as time has passed bitcoin has begun to face real contenders, coins with true innovative technology.

Bitcoin now is in danger because of the possible dethrone that can be done by the ethereum, i think ethereum was in a big hype for now and it is now collecting a lot of gains in the overall market and soon it will be very close to bitcoin and can dethrone bitcoin. If bitcoin will not have any kind of good news then we will say good bye for bitcoin for being top 1.

That's what happens when GREEDY, RICH, Corporations hog all the hash.   Don't think for one minute their mining for the greater good of Bitcoin and it's adoption.

Let's see,  the rich own fiat and now Bitcoin...what's not to love?  Do you think the pioneers wanted this for Bitcoin in the beginning?

I think bitcoin still has the most current prominence. Bitcoin is still much superior to etherum. In any case, to be sure the improvement of altcoin is at present extremely quick. I think this will be a sound rivalry to enhance the advanced cash on the planet today.

There are just two answers in your 1 question.First is all because of larger fees wallets and networks issues to "make transactions faster" which didnt happen and second is the super delays in transactions

Who gives a crap about that artificial ratio?  That's like trying to say gold is undervalued because the gold:silver ratio is out of whack.  It's meaningless.

ETH is a piece of garbage that got caught up in the bitcoin wind, that's all.  Who says we need to keep bitcoin "#1"?  It fucking well IS number one, and you don't have to look at market caps to know that.  In any case, we'll see in 10 years whether I'm right or not.  Someone promise to resurrect this thread in 2027, eh?

I think this is part of bitcoin that will indeed decrease, but the decrease is fluctuate, because sometimes bitcoin price will also increase significantly.

Main factor is price. Same as for pink sheets people buy them because they cannot afford IBM's, Apple's, Kodak, etc or they are hoping to "get rich quick". The higher the BTC price goes the more people get pushed out while the bigger investor replaces them.

Why do you guys think Bitcoin is declining in popularity? Looks like Ethereum will pass it. What can Bitcoin do to maintain number 1?
No doubt that Bitcoin is still the king in this race but you can think yourself that ETH is in the starting and growing like the Bitcoin and hopefully it is going good according to the interest of the bitcoiners .
So here it is looking that eth is more fast to grow than Bitcoin , so here I would like to suggest everyone that don't compare the Bitcoin and eth with each other because Bitcoin is king at his own place and ETH is king at his own place , don't try to judge .
If you will talk about the technology power then I will say that ETH is more better than Bitcoin .

There is not a solitary shot of happening this. On the off chance that you finishing up this from current situation of bitcoin them disregard your announcement. It is simply pump and dump that dependably continue occurring with bitcoin due to more property and in some cases offering of it. It dislike that bitcoin is declining as digital money it simply one more piece of bitcoin process or how it functions.

I am sure that ETH will rise in value because it is becoming like a trusted and usable cryptocurrency platform and I invest a little of its growth BUT I don't think it will soon surpass that of Bitcoin. Well, only time can tell if that can really happen.

For now, it is Bitcoin that is the raging King of Crypto and if soon the scaling debate can be solved for good then its value can be back to the right track and be astronomical again.

Again, only time can tell if one day Bitcoin can fall from its number one position because the number is still way behind though honestly it has that potential in itself worth exploring.

In my own understanding on why bitcoin is declining because I think its due to the alt coin competitors like Ethereum. Etherem is now second on the list but bitcoin still on the top because bitcoin is fully established cryptocurrency.

In my opinion, why bitcoin declining as top cryto currency due to unexpected increasing of other cryptocurrencies of altcoins in the market. It means if the bitcoin raising up altcoins price were going down or sometimes breakeven. However, vise versa if the crytocurrencies or altcoins price were striking raising up the price of bitcoin were going down.

From where i see it bitcoin is doing great it has good market price which is $2477 as of now. Explain it to me how would a buggy and centralized altcoin could surpass bitcoin.
Bitcoin has been adopted in many countries and has been legalize in japan
Bitcoin has the most number  of merchants and services using it as a payment processor.
Bitcoin is one of the widely used as a payment processor in the world wide web
Bitcoin is also in local businesses as a payment method.

Look at the different aspects of bitcoin then you'll understand that bitcoin will always be number 1.

I never believe that bitcoin is declining in its popularity. People understand it in the wrong manner, just because of the ethereum gaining a value increase one cannot say that bitcoin has got its popularity declined. We can say that ethereum is growing potentially and giving hard competence. Look at the ongoing scenario more than ethereum, bitcoin seems to surpass values.

Other altcoins may have greater benefits than bitcoin. Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency, and it's not flawless. I think the main reason today is due to the large fees. Maybe because how you can trace any transaction as well. Bitcoin is actually getting old, believe it or not. The blockchain is getting stupidly big too.

Well like private local grocery stores, I'm using "local businesses" in that sense.

How come? Price has gone up to 2300$, Japan and Australia accepting bitcoin, every day more and more businesses are accepting bitcoin as a payment. Ethereum MAY surpass bitcoin in some specific sections but all together? No way.

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

Correct bitcoin has two main advantages over any other altcoin, is the first coin of its type and the popularity, bitcoin is not perfect it has its own shares of problems but the issue is that those problems are not getting resolved, while in other coins those problems are getting solved and are able to move forward, bitcoin at the moment seems to be paralyzed due to political and internal conflicts.
