Hi there,
i'm a student and i have a GL502VS laptop, it has a GTX1070 (m) graphic card and i want to know wich coin i can mine with it.
i don't have money to invest to a miner so i want to mine with my laptop. Can run windows or linux.
I've seen on this site https://www.nicehash.com/?p=calc that equihash is "profitable" for me. However how can i set it up and does it apply to BTC or other currencies?
Thanks for any replyes

since you already have the hardware to play with, just go ahead and get it set up and running and post back with the figures Smiley

You most certainly wont be mining bitcoin, or at least not any amount that is worth any real world value

Id do a bit more research into the various softwares that you can use, read up on installation how-to's and give it a shot

Laptops aren't designed to run hot 24/7, I hope you have a cooling pad.

Mining on your laptop is a really bad idea, i wouldn't recommend it you could harm your laptop.
Get yourself a rig.

Your laptop will have a tough time while mining, it ll probably run hot and loud (because blower style cooler). Next thing that you MUST consider is if something broke in you laptop it ll be hard (imposible) to rapair due to fact that most of the laptop components are soldered.
But again knowledge is priceless, so just out of pure curiosity you can start mining, but be sure that you've got an eye on laptop's temps (use HWinfo or other monitoring software).

BTC wont be profitable, I would sugest you try Zcash (GPU) + Monero (CPU)

Yeah sure, but nor BTC and not 24/7.
I have 860m and sometimes I'm mining XMR with it. While I'm watching movie I start XMR-STAK and let it mine. GPU temp is around 60° with thermal pad on lowest fan speed (18cm fan 600rmp), without thermal pad temp is around 65°. Your laptop seems gaming so it will have better cooling also 1000 series has lower power consuption than 800 series. Few hours a day shouldn't be problem, mining is a more gentle than gaming for a laptop.
