Well, ... I still have dropbox. I also have a coupon thingie installed on a Samsung device that grants 50 GB to either a new account or an existing account. You can buy that from me and pay with bitcoins. hehehehe.

Sorry for asking, but is there any particular reason we can't just use Mega?

Isn't mega for sharing files with others, like mediafire, while dropbox is for storing file personally, like google drive?

What's your experience with http://www.wuala.com/en/learn/technology ?

This seems to be one of the best alternatives I've found so far and most secure.

I'm also looking into Mega but uploading files seems to be bugged.

jambola2 wants a replacement.
He uses only dropbox for a huge amount of things.
He asks if anyone can suggest an easy to use alternative.

No longer active on bitcointalk, however, you can still reach me via PMs if needed.

Wuala gives you 5gb and best privacy, has folder sync and so on.

Further to this thread we are launching our new unlimited backup and storage service called 'DataShell Backup' to the Bitcoin community. This service can only be purchased with bitcoin.

We provide software for Windows, MacOS, Android, iPhone & iPad.

For the launch we are running a promotion where the first five users to request trial copies in the main thread will get one month's free trial of the software. We are running this offer on the agreement recipients will write a short honest review to the comity sharing their experiences of DataShell. This offer is only open to users with three coins under your username (Full Member) or higher. We love all the community equally, but we also want to make sure the trial accounts go to seasoned users who are likely to comment back to the forum!

DataShell Backup costs 0.30BTC a year. Please email info@datashell.co.uk to place an order.

And yes: it really is unlimited – you can store as much data as you want.

Please visit the main thread for more info.

This thread was originally a raffle + drive for Bitcoin users to vote on Dropbox site "Votebox" to accept Bitcoin.

Dropbox has recently closed Votebox.. This is after Bitcoin became the #1 voted request.

So... Here's something to consider -

Bittorrent Sync, an open-source replacement for Dropbox.

http://labs.bittorrent.com/experiments/sync.html

I personally will move my data to this service rather than continuing to pay Dropbox for ignoring my needs.

Also, I don't want US Govt to access my files.

BitTorrent Sync is NOT open-source. It is also not a service, but a protocol and application.

I'm pretty sure that Dropbox will eventually accept Bitcoin.

No need to boycott. However, my premium subscription has now expired and will stay so until they accept BTC Grin
