Hi,

Even just a year ago bitcoin was useable... now the fees are about 10x what the banks charge. Seems like its changing from a peer-to-peer money system for everyone into yet another convenient way for rich people to exchange funds!

What went wrong> And more to the point, who is responsible? What can be done to fix it?
Thanks
Andy

You got it that bitcoin use anywhere and it is up to us on how are we going to use bitcoin. Their are many people depends at bitcoin because it is hassle free and very good in different area.

At this point, what makes it wrong?
It makes wrong if bitcoin will use in wrong way and other people tend to do that because they think that it will be use anytime we want.

Bitcoin suppose to use in such for daily usage in the right way and helping other people too for charity. Their are many ways to trasact bitcoin it matters on how are we going to decide it.

Did you have to write an incomprehensible reply to a 10 month old post about something that isn't currently a problem? (fees are very low now).

I think bitcoin is for everybody.. Not only for the rich people.
If you have enough knowledge about bitcoin and its ambitions.
You are qualified to use its services.

Actually bitcoin can be used and owned by all people. But what I see today is that the majority and bitcoin enthusiasts are quite wealthy people. Is it because the price is high enough or most poor people lack information, not knowing bitcoin or can not have bitcoin.

Nope it is for everyone not just for the rich people.
You could always set your transaction fee in the lowest transaction fee.
And I think everyone could afford it unless you are only earning through a faucet?

one can say bitcoin is for the rich only at the moment considering the rate at the market now but some years back 1 btc is something one can easily afford to buy and store for future.

Definitely no,  bitcoin is for rich and also for poor, because both of them are need to earn money. Even they are rich but they have also unlimited need and want, depends where they are living and also the poor.

Why do you think that bitcoin is only for the rich? It is not necessary to buy one bitcoin right away, you can buy a bitcoin part for the amount you are calculating, or take courses on trading and earn on growth and fall of bitcoin

Also remember that bitcoin touched all time high of 19800$ and it is currently half the price of its all time high. So those who think bitcoin is for rich only are wrong. The prices are at a half now and it is very good time to buy more bitcoins now if you have money for investment and have a power of holding.

No one has claimed that bitcoin is only for the rich. This we need to straighten out. The high cost of bitcoin transactions was due to fluctuations and rising costs from mining. Difficulty mining continues to increase which makes miners have to raise the price of bitcoin transactions. Now bitcoin prices include cheap, rather than stare only see better market moves come in droves to buy bitcoin so that later we not only watch the people who benefit from the fluctuations that occur.

Bitcoin is the most expensive currency nowadays and it's obvious that many people have no money for it. Anyway people can buy parts of bitcoin for
 future invesments.

I think that all these are temporary difficulties, as bitcoin is still a very young currency. As far as I know, the commission is now much smaller than it was before.

there are many ways to earn in bitcoin. if you don't have the big amount of money you can use the campaign to posts and event you don't have investments in it. Some people using bitcoin thru investment, like investing money to make a profit and to make bigger interests. People like me, can't afford to invest a large amount of money so I am joining campaigns every quarter of the year. I can make the profit in an easy way but not bigger than the others than can invest a large amount of money.
Bounty company as an example! The company does not need investments in the bounty! To begin understanding what a crypto currency is - an ideal idea!

While bitcoin is only at the beginning of its development, while its price is not stable, we will have to tolerate a high transaction fee. But I think that in time it will come back to normal.

Bitcoin is not only for the rich, it's for everyone. Now, Bitcoin transaction fees is back to normal, you can make small transactions with suitable fees.

Bitcoin has not limited its users to only rich people, because if it is for the rich then why there are so many ordinary people here investing, trading crypto currencies? Of course you need to start with something that is essential in your journey through crypto currencies, like internet connection and a few money if you wanted to invest, but there are ways to earn bitcoins without dropping even a coin from your wallet.

fees really depends on the market situation if the,the network is congested it will take much longer for the transactions to be completed hence the fees are little higher than the usual price,it wont be a problem as long as you do pay the minimum fees you will just need to wait for some time,so that you wont need to be pay extra fees.

Bitcoin is for everyone, as long as you have money to spare then you can invest on Bitcoin, as long as you are willing to learn all the process and information then you can join, life status is not an issue for you not to join in.It's your gut, time, little money, information is needed to join, don't belittle yourself.

That is very true high transaction fees is there with some exchanger that can make the disadvantage. That is why when you make cash out try to cash out a bigger amount on order to save the high transaction fee. Also try to choose exchange that offers lower fees there are some like that.
