The fees now are expensive, Agree to that. but these fees are not the normal unless there are complicated circumstances to that payment,
for a 222 byte payment to 1 party the fees is at max 0.0005 which is around $1.25 BTC, it's not cheap and it should be cents in maximum, but it's not as huge as 8 dollars.
also the issue is the fees would be the same for a 73 dollars or a million dollar TX, as soon as the number of addresses sending/receiving is the same.

I agree the developers should do something, either a 2 mb per block or whatever, but have to solve this, people are using ETH just to get around the fees.
Read other posts before writing garbage. 2 MB does not solve anything and mETH will have the same if not worse problems.

Is that coinbase? I know their transaction fees are stupidly insane
It has nothing to do with Coinbase.

I noticed the same, few days ago, 5€ for moving 50€ in BTC from my wallet to an exchange...
The value that you're moving has nothing to do with the required fee. It is possible to move $1 Billion worth of Bitcoin for $1, and it is possible that you may require a $100 fee in order to move $1.

Guy's i am not a newbie around here, i work with bitcoin for 2 years now.
I know how i can change the fee, lower or higher, doesn't matter.
Your knowledge is elementary at best. Read my post before writing more nonsense.

I highly doubt it.

Guess what: Nobody cares. Bitcoin does not care about your emotions, and neither does anyone educated care about your useless ranting. You are in absolutely no position to make any kind of demands. You are free to go somewhere else.

If you're not in a hurry, you could simply choose a lower fee.
This is holly truth! The value of the fee that they suggested to you is impossibly high! This wallets are just going crazy, but I am sure there are people who pay such fees. Maybe to organise my own BTC wallet with normal fee amount!? Roll Eyes

Brand new for a full member?
I mean is this the first time you have done a transaction?
This news had spreading around all over this community for like a month now and we are almost getting used to it. Now you are getting mad for a $73 dollar transaction which you didn't even observe if you could customize you fee. Unlike some of us here who are using web wallets which dont have much of a choice.

The price of bitcoin is so high and a lot of users are also executing transactions everyday so it is more like a race for every kind of transaction so it is either you will pay high to get to the finish line fast as you want or pay average fee which will take a lot of hours or even days before you fully received it.

It's SICK to pay this kind of fee!
And as i told before, I refuse to pay this kind of fee.

Then just don't.
Wait for the money to accumulate in your wallet (if you continue to earn), wait for the network to have better times, this kind of issues may get solved at some point (SegWit, politics, name it).
Unfortunately we are small in this equation and whether we are happy or unhappy about this situation, only the miners (signal) and devs (fork) can do anything of it.
There are many as frustrated as you are (or even worse) and this subject is well known.
We need more, more and even more patience, it seems.

Meanwhile optimizing the transfers is the only solution I know of. If you earn Bitcoin, try to get them sent directly/automatically to the places you want to spend them (exchanges?). Also try to avoid sending them every week if you don't have to and you know that next week more money will come into that wallet.
...These are small things, I know, and some may not apply to you, still, I hope they can help.

Just check my transactions dude,
If i wanna transfer this amount now i should pay a fee of $8.87,
And yes, there can be many reassons for it.
My last transaction i made with the same amount of transaction was on 3 may, i paid a fee of $0.92.

It's not where talking about smalls amounts of fee here.

And yes i refuse to pay a fee like this to the miners.

3) Pay less and wait more. The amount you pay (which you can pick in the wallets that I've recommended) in combination with the fee-rate tiers (see superscript 1) determines how long you will wait for a confirmation (estimate).

I have to agree with Lauda on this, what I usually do though is I wait if I'm not in a hurry. Though I did notice the price went up when bitcoins value skyrocketed too.

Point is, if this is how the blockchain will handle my transactions with this kind of fee i am out.
Even with many outputs i haven't paid this kind of fee, never! Made around 255 transactions.
I am not stupid, i am shocked about this high fee.
And if this kind of fee will be normal to pay i am out of Bitcoin.

There many others coins with better rates.

That's just how it is now it is either you put up with slow transaction and pay a low amount of fee or pay the recommended one to get your transaction confirmed faster. This kind of fee is normal for now so to solve this problem, just send your bitcoin earnings sent by others to an exchange if you will spend it or just simply send it to where you want it for you to not bother about the fee.

Fees issues are nothing new you should have known this by now. Low and very low fees are past, this is not functioning anymore. Until some solution is found we have to agree with higher fees if we want for transactions to be confirmed and delivered on time. So you better get the wallet where you can regulate the fees.

You are not the only one who do experience this but all bitcoin users which really don't like on the sudden increase of fees and we cant do anything about it but pay up those fees if we do want to transfer some bitcoins from another wallet. I was little bit surprised that 0.001 is already considered as lowest amount of fee which ive knew this a while ago that its on recommended fee but now it goes high again which it change to 0.003 which is really too much and this thing hesitates me to make transfers specially on a hurry.

The fee in BTC has pretty much stayed the same with a slight increase, but because the bitcoin's price has risen so much in past few weeks that same fee looks a lot more in $ terms.

Part of the problem to the congestion is that plenty of services use Bitcoin very inefficiently. Instead of spamming with $1 or lower transactions repeatedly, they should aggregate them into bigger ones and make payments less frequent. This reminds me of some signature campaigns that had daily payments.

Using a fee-rate of "534.16 sat/B" confirms my assessment that you have rudimentary knowledge of cryptocurrencies and are blaming Bitcoin for your own short comings.

I was little bit surprised that 0.001 is already considered as lowest amount of fee which ive knew this a while ago that its on recommended fee but now it goes high again which it change to 0.003 which is really too much and this thing hesitates me to make transfers specially on a hurry.
Absolute bullshit post. "0.001" is not considered the lowest "amount of fee". There are no absolute numbers when it comes to fees, only the fee-rate.

I guess you can still choose a lower fee but not a fast transaction and i guess there ae just really a bitcoin wallet that have a super high fees when it comes in transaction and even in a small transaction so i guess you better change your bitcoin wallet and find who have more lower fees 8$ fee iis really ridiculous.

Core developers changed the way fees are calculated. Once upon a time is was simple like buying a pint in a pub. Now they have screwed it all up based on their flawed understanding of economics. Fee market - utterly stupid.

Ignore Lauda as well.

If you're not in a hurry, you could simply choose a lower fee.

This is something that a ton of people say though it's going to be kind of tough to pay a lower fee when you want something to be going at a semi-normal speed. You'd want to be following a credit card in that sense where the payment goes through instantly and you don't need to wait a disgusting amount of time to be able to pay for it.

But on a TX like this which is $73, you're paying more then 10 percent of it away in fees, this is one of the many reasons that I stopped using BTC and have went back to using my debit card and fiat. I simply take all the BTC I earn and convert it into USD instead of paying high fees and just simply losing money for the sake of losing money. I'm not doing anything shady online so it's not worth it for me to pay these high fees.

Lets hope we fix this congested network #SegWit?
