Is there a development fund that we can donate to? Happy to see that a new developer was found and would like to send a few Bips to support further development.
Yes, the Help Out page, https://bipcoin.org/?page_id=18, on the website provides that info and donations are always appreciated. Thank you for asking.

Thanks, that's good to know. I was not sure if info on website was up to date or not. Sent a couple of Bips to the address given. Please keep up the good work!

That was more than a couple; thanks! We'll keep everyone posted on activities. Our domain name is now registered through 2020.

Bipcoin definitely has a bright future ahead, just pointed a few rigs to bipcoin in the last few days. Hopefully other miners follow !
Yes, we've had a much more steady blockchain recently which is great for the coin.

I have been running a node for about a month now but I'm wondering if there is any way to see if it is fully functioning and on the network. The hard drive space has been slowly filling up leading me to believe it is downloading the ledger. Any way to be 100% certain?

Just type print_cn into the node command line prompt. You should see a list of other nodes your node is connected to. If their status is listed as status_normal your node is up to date with them and the blockchain. If they are listed as status_synchronising your node is still behind (which it definitely should not be if you have been running it for a month).

You can also quit the node by typing exit into the command line and then restarting the node. Please use the exit command because that way the node will save the blockchain and you don't have to download it again. As the node starts up it should give a report of how it is connecting to other nodes and if it is behind them.

Btw, Monero node CLI has a status command that makes it very easy to check if your node is up to date, but unfortunately to my knowledge Bipcoin does not have such a command (at least not yet).

If you stop and restart the node it will give the message "SYNCHRONIZED OK" when the blockchain is up to date. (https://bipcoin.org/?p=718)

Hello. Let me ask a question about my BipCoin Windows GUI wallet v.0.0.0.4. Today I sent some bipcoins from my wallet to cryptopia deposit address. Unfortunately I could not sent more than 260-270 BIP in one transaction; if I determined more BIPs for sending, I received an error message that my transaction is too big. Also some of this transactions don't confirm yet with "?" status, and some transactions there confirmed or in the process of confirmation now. So please tell me how I can to resynchronize my BipCoin Windows GUI wallet to see an actual balance and transactions history. Thank you!

When will there be an update for the gui wallet and will the algorithm for changing the difficulty change more efficiently?

If more people run my nicehash script (https://github.com/KittyCatTech/bipcoin-nicehash-bot) it will keep the network hashrate more stable.

The problem is when the network hashrate and difficulty drops too low it incentivises a miner to come mine alot of blocks really quickly and then the network has to slow down a lot to make up for all the quickly mined blocks. The script will make sure there is more hashing power when the difficulty starts to go down by only buying hashing power when it is profitable to do so and will stop mining when some other miner adds alot of hashing to the network.

Please ask if you need help setting it up.

I can not understand why this script is needed. In the network block for more than 3 hours is not. The difficulty will be very slowly reduced, the delay between the blocks will be long in time.
You need to pay attention to this point.
Need a better algorithm for changing the difficulty.

Need a better algorithm for changing the difficulty.

The nicehash script (https://github.com/KittyCatTech/bipcoin-nicehash-bot) is needed to keep the network hashrate from falling too low. The higher the network hashrate the more costly it is to slow down the network by over mining for a short period of time. This is why you don't see it happening to coins that have a higher network hashrate. Because on those coins no one can afford to spike up the network hashrate, even for a short period of time, to disrupt the network difficulty and the block times.

The nicehash script will ensure that as the price of BipCoin rises the network hashrate rises concurrently and therefore making it less likely to spike up like we have seen it do recently (https://poolpolice.org/#bip).

However, if the new Lead BipCoin Dev, SamuelPickwick, wants to fork to a better algorithm for changing difficulty, one of the other BipCoin Devs already has one that is written and being used currently by one of the other CryptoNote coins. It would not be difficult to make that change and release a new version of BipCoin.  But it might not be necessary if we get the price and network hashrate up and start beating out some of the other coins.

I think BipCoin is going to rapidly win over market share because we are the 'No Gov Crypto' that is 'Making Dark Coins Fun Again!' by focusing on making it easy and fun for people to use.  Let's let users vote with their BIP on what the roadmap should be for BipCoin.

Can anyone explain why for some weeks (especially this week) I can be non-stop mining on a pool but gain no rewards? Does it have something to do with difficulty or overall network hashrate?

I used to get quite a bit of bip per day but now I am making none... This has happened before as well.

network hashrate had been over 500k/s recently and difficulty over 80M. it's tough to find a block on a small pool.

network hashrate had been over 500k/s recently and difficulty over 80M. it's tough to find a block on a small pool.

The hashrate is about 3 times higher than it should be based on the current price and it keeps on spiking up higher and then coming back down which makes the difficulty rise quickly and then take a long time to adjust back down. This is causing really long block times and delaying the confirmation of transaction as well as slowing down the mining pools and making it much less profitable to mine.

While the algorithm for calculating difficulty could be changed to alleviate this problem, that might not be necessary If we can grow the coin to a higher price, network hashrate and market share of the CryptoNote mining capacity. If the network hashrate is higher, then it becomes more costly to use these hashrate spikes to manipulate the difficulty and disrupt the block times. The larger we can grow the coin, the more robust and secure it will be.
