Server case for gpu mining

Looking to move away from open rigs and I want to be ready if I decide to colocate in a data center. I'm an absolute newb when it comes to servers. Will a 4u fit gtx 1080 ti? I see the cases usually don't come with fans, are they just standard 120mm?

Also, a rack is the entire cabinet correct? What is the term for the individual case that holds a server/mining rig?

Anyone know where I can find a rackmount 4u server case like this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147164 In the EU?

Can't find any with the 3x 120mm front fans.

There are ones which are designed for 7 GPUs but they are all custom built and very expensive.

Really surprised nobody has DIY one yet.

If you're handy and don't mind doing your own mods, just buy any cheap case and mod it to work. That's what I ended up doing.

I'm having issues with temps, though. Couple of the cards keep getting up to 90C, even though they have the most space and the most air.

I measured and it wouldn't work with 5-6 GPUs inside, not enough room with the large PSU and everything. It would maybe work with 4 GPUs max and you would need fans everywhere to keep it cool.

What's wrong if you move them to a data center and still keep them open?
As far as I know that's much better for air flow.

Any way you need a case like the one used in the panda miner.

I think it should fit 7. Just did one and was able to install 6x Gigabyte GTX 1060s with fairly good amount of space between them.
Both short version RSV-R4000 and long version - RSV-L4500, RSV-L4000 would work (short case better for a shorter single fan cards)
Longer version is better since it has more space inside to fit another layer of case fans.
You just need to disassemble front drive bays and DIY fit cards facing forward, might need to reverse fans depending on GPUs (some like exhausting to the back, some like EVGA GTX 1060s exhaust the other way)

May be you should build something like these, I got these images from google search .. These can be modified to fit in 6 or 7 gpus easily and be made an open or closed design imo.

@Guvn0r I've got them on metal grill shelving at the moment, building an open air setup this week. If I move to Amsterdam, I can only find that electricity is around $0.18 per kwh for consumers. Industrial is $0.08 so in a data center, my mining would be viable. Plus we'd be renting so using 2500 watts or more might cause problems. Si I figured I'd get on the cases now so I'd be ready when we need to move.


@Sportswood Those are nice, Rosewill doesn't sell in Europe though. That's the problem, EU has jack shit available. I miss newegg.
