is it ASIC or some other embedded device like an ARM cpu?

cost of the hardware is not a consideration, I'm asking out of curiosity.

If talking Bitcoins only, the S9 is indeed the answer as of now.

If you also include altcoins, mining Burstcoin with HDDs and some of the smartphone-minable coins would top the list. Not to mention that such mining hardware is silent or nearly silent, has a much lower entry cost, and has other uses.

I use cryptocurrency and solar power to help my best friend Naomi Wu... And I'm proud of it!

Depends on the algo.

For Bitcoin and it's derivatives, the Antminer S9 and R4 models are the most efficient.

For Litecoin and it's derivatives, the Antminer L3+ but be ready for a LONG wait on them.

For X11/X13/X15/qubit/one or two other algos I'm spacing at the moment, the Baikal.

For overall most "income/watt used" BURST is probably the king, but it's only so-so on "income/$ invested" right now.

Except this is the BITCOIN mining section of the forum.  Replies like yours only encourage an already cluster fuck of a sub to be even more cluster fucked (IMO).

I guess it actually doesn't matter since this sig spam cesspool of a sub already has half the fucking threads in it pertaining to Alt coin mining and the mods don't seem to care at this point.

Could have fooled me, I aggressively move altcoin threads out of here. Provided there is *some* discussion of bitcoin I let the threads remain, but as soon as the bulk of the discussion is aimed at altcoins I move them. Note the opening poster hasn't responded and hasn't shown an interest in altcoins... yet. Depending on what happens to the direction of the thread by the opening poster I leave it or move it. If they don't  return I lock them.

Sorry man, this whole thread past post #2 is repetitive and off topic.  It looks like everyone in this thread (inc OP) just wants to post to increase activity/post count.  Which I assume would be for sig campaigns eventually.

Seems like I see to much of this.

Anyways you're the mod, do your thing and GL, sorry for the OT meta.
