Both, the fantasy needs to be attainable with the foundations we have with reality, but it never hurts to dream as we achieve more if we push the envelope towards new ideas otherwise society would experience stagnation and not growth, innovation leads to revolutionary changes. Sci-Fi Movies are a good idea of making a fantasy popular and people then trying to imitate that idea into reality at some point. I would have used dream instead of fantasy, but dreaming is a subconscious process which we do not have much control upon, but fantasizing is a conscious process where we purposefully/deliberately think that this thing could have been like this rather than that.

Another thing, fantasy here is not in the NSFW sense, it is more like reality vs your thought process or what you think should be real.
