I don't know if my problems are typical and people have to constantly watch the miners as I am new at this.

I don't know if I am the only one having a problem with GUI Miner but here goes and how I fixed it...

I was having problems with the miner breaking or stopping randomly say at 5 min intervals to 24 hr interval, completely random no rhyme or reason, server problem at deepbit no data or my Internet connectivity issues etc.

My solution was to write a script for AutoHotkey http://www.autohotkey.com/

My script reads GPU load each second approx and if load goes under a preset load currently 10% then it dumps out form checking and hits the start stop button on GUI miner, waits 10 seconds to see if the GPU load comes back online and if not repeats until GPU load is over 10%...

I've got 3 computers running HD7970's and crunching around 585-600 Mhash/s each.

So far so good...

George

So, you solved your problem?
You might want to post some logs or something. It could be a serious problem.

can u please! please! post a step-by step solution to exactly what you did.  i am having the same problem with XFX7990.  hash rate keeps dropping from 500MH/s to 100KH/s after 4-5 minutes after i get a " Communication Problem" message.   I am not a programmer so I'm kinda not familiar with hotkeys..thanks

That's a very common problem with Guiminer. Better use some real mining software like CGminer or BFGminer. Those will give you a better hashrate than Guiminer.
