ICOs launched in Ethereum / Waves are not cryptocurrencies.
They are not seperate chains or altcoins.
They have no security, mining, installation, individual wallets.
I fail to see how they are altcoins at all. Shouldn't they be considered off topic and banned from this board?

They should be in a childboard under Marketplace.

I would love it so much if that was the case. A few years ago when threads of wallet builders premined scam coins could be reported and consequently removed was a thing, I see no reason it shouldn't happen with tokens under other coins (Eth/Waves). But times have changed so I remain skeptical if we're ever going to see such "coins" separated from "real" coins. One could hope though.

Good points and I agree.. As in ban but move them to a separate section. Personally I'd suggest the scam accusations section LOL OR a new one called non currency pyramid schemes.

I completely agree with your point but a coins created based on ERC20 token or waves platform in future may be more For that may be have to create different thread by giving Tokens or ICO . It doesn't make any sense these tokens created based on alt coins like ethereum and waves as it having very limited. In future if there is lots of competitors then can create new thread . But time being even it can be keep it in childboard.

I think leaving them in the alternative currencies section is the best we can hope for, I saw some chat about having an area dedicated to ETH but I don't think that should happen so for now keeping all the non bitcoin stuff in the alternative section is good enough for me.

+1 on this, a separate thread in the Scam section would be appropriate.

This is ridiculous, ERC20 tokens work on the ethereum blockchain as it was designed and similarly for waves tokens. If you want to call them a scam why not call all altcoins that support tokens a scam too?

Altcoins have evolved from being simple coins based on bitcoin/litecoin network and are now often tokens that run on the blockchain of an established coin.
I don't see anything wrong with that as the only thing they basically do is outsource their blockchain to a "better" one with more security (more mining/minting/etc).

The answer for your question is in your post - since they are designed to work on ethereum blockchain they inherit the "features" of Ethereum Blockchain itself - a premined scam (72 millions on genesis block, openly admitted by Vitalik itself), centralized, buggy, hacked in past, forked many times, overloaded when ICO's launched, thousands of transactions got lost, a lot of money got lost. Good luck with your investment in this shitcoin and it's child shittokens.

I did not call them "scams". I simply called them "Not altcoins". The header stickied topic of this forum reads "Alternative Block Chains : be safe!". These are not alternate block chains.

All ICO shitscams should be banned from the forum. The level of spam they make via signature campaigns is appalling and they don't do a single thing about it. I could create 200 accounts and copy and paste every single post from someone else and those idiots would pay me for it whilst taking in millions in funding.

Ban or segregate all ETH tokens. Break off the "bounty" and "campaign" topics & anything other than P2P altcoin-to- BTC trades from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=161.0

Maybe it is time to take action against signature campaign organizers, in line with what was proposed in the signature campaign guidelines. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1684035.0Has the forum taking any action against signature campaign operators in the past (except maybe forcing bitmixer to hire a campaign manager)?

Smart Contract is just a marketing buzzword. All ICO shitscams should be banned from the forum. The level of spam they make via signature campaigns is appalling and they don't do a single thing about it. I could create 200 accounts and copy and paste every single post from someone else and those idiots would pay me for it whilst taking in millions in funding.
That solves nothing; the spam will still persist. Ban or segregate all ETH tokens.
Well, arguably, no ICO that issues token on some already existing chain (regardless of whether it is Ether, Counterparty or something else) is not an altcoin. They could, or possibly should, have a section of their own.

I'm all for it but good luck getting theymos to enforce it. You're lucky if you get a reply to a PM these days. I've requested several campaigns have their signatures blacklisted but nothing. Pretty much every single ico campaign should have their signatures removed because they all do the same thing: absolutely nothing. If I had my way their entire announcement and bounty threads would be trashed and their accounts banned as soon as it became apparent they have no interest in monitoring their campaign. Not sure why we should have to ban hundreds of spammers on their campaigns whilst the people who are causing it get away free and become rich in the process. It's sheer laziness on their part and it can't be allowed to continue. If you can't look after your campaign then you shouldn't be allowed to advertise here in such a fashion. And bitmixer weren't forced to do anything. I'm almost certain someone on their campaign with a lot of accounts was obviously very worried mods were going to shut down the campaign and his little cash cow in the process so he contacted them to tell them mods were going to start closing problem campaigns down.
