Looking to purchase a domain name

My friend started a window washing service and refuses to pay for a website, so I volunteered to make one, but I would like to do it as cheap as possible because he won't refund me the money I put out for the site,(great friend right) but I will allegedly receive a commission if people mentioned they found him through the website.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Recycle a raspberry pi, install wordpress, register a dyndns subdomain, build the site, profit.

Upgrade to yearly paid domain.  Break even.

Upgrade to monthly paid vps.  Eat the remaining cost.
