I don't think LBRY can ever beat Youtube. They have only 1 chance: As we see from Steemit, they create a blogging platform of cryptocurrency. So LBRY may become video sharing platform of crypto. That is the best they can ever do.
Youtube is screwing over its content creators by excessively promoting childish vloggers whilst leaving the others creators out in the cold. Advertisers only want their ads on child friendly videos (because kids usually don't have ad blockers), so anything even remotely scary, obscene, or in other words mature will get very little to no ads. Even if a vlogger uses the words fuck instead of fudge they lose their ad right on that video. That's what LBRY will combat. Let's talk about artists getting fairly compensated; here in belgium we have an organisation called sabam. They go to parties and radio stations and such, asking for money in order to pay artists like bryan adams every time 'the summer of 69' gets played. Do you think bryan adams ever gets payed for that? no, cause sabam holds almost 100% of what gets paid. Again, this is what LBRY strives to combat.
Basically, they want a platform for every video, book, movie, song, ... ever made, without censorship. We decide how much we pay. It's like patreon, but easier and cheaper, and with a lot more possible content. In the distant future, movie theaters might even disappear, as new movies get put directly onto the LBRY platform. Movie theaters keep a ton of money for themselves, meaning that for every dollar we pay, only 5 cents gets to the actual content creator. LBRY basically wants to cut out all the middle men that make content so expensive.
