It will be interesting to see where the netwrok hashrate stands after a few weeks. The coin comparison websites are the reason the hashrate jumped enromously, which is unfortunate, but luckily the jumped ship just as fast. Hash rate had been steadily climbing about 50MH/s per day, up to about 700 before the coin comparison websites alerted the quick profit farms. The good news is, due to the long confirm times, the farms won't get anything for about 60 hours, the other good news is with quick difficulty adjustment, it should discourage these farms in the future.

Right now we've settled back down to the pre-coin comparison website hashrates.

Oh, and don't start mentioning royalcoin, you can learn everything you need to know about that joke from the initial post when it was "released".

Bitbar is in it for the long haul, it's got good fundamentals, a great system, good network, and a good name.  It doesn't attract too much attention from the kids around here, or the scammers, which is exactly what you want.

My advise: Do your homework.

My advice: learn to spell 'advice'.

Why the frell so many retards spell "ect" as an abbreviation of "Et Cetera"? "ETC", DAMMIT! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Et_cetera

My advice: Stop hating and go play with the currencies you like. If you don't like one, that is simple. Leave it alone and go play with yours. Enough said.

Yes keep dodging the fact that 70% of bitbars were mined in 30 mins.

Except that is completely false. The first 30 minutes saw 800BTBs mined. Yes, difficulty was low at first, I didn't get any of the low difficulty benefit myself, which I'm pissed about too, but I don't go around acting like a child, trolling other coins. All I need to do is point to the announcements of each coin, I let people judge for themselves.

The hashrate will drop quick as BTB is now less profitable to mine than BTC.

Bitbar is premined garbage, 70% of all bitbars were created in the first 30 mins. Scam scam scam.

RYC network hash rate was over 2gh then someone decided to ddos the pools. They just can't handle the explosive growth Smiley

They call that instamining not premining Smiley

thats going to be a big problem for feathercoin.

That's one of the things that has attracted me to bitbar, bitbar seems like a long term coin. Almost all the other recent alts, feathercoin, chinacoin, mincoin, etc seem like instant appear and quickly disapear coins.

what makes you think than bitbar is better than thoses?  Look at feathercoin, it has grown to 5Gh/s network, got on btc-e and still got dumped faster than a friday night hooker.

I would like to see this try and be dumped. How many will be dumped? 20 bars? 50 bars? 100 bars? It is not enough to sway the market easily

I'll continue mining it even if it's slightly less profitable. But right now at this stage of the game that's not even a big deal. It's actually a good thing as it gets BitBar out of the pump and dump spotlight. As pointed out earlier, that sort of stuff kills a coin early on.

Feathercoin had a number of problems.

(please note this is just my opinion)

* Feathercoin provided no actual benefits over other coins, it was a simple litecoin clone.
* Feathercoin jumped onto exchanges too hard and too fast, it had no time to establish itself even if it was legit.
* Feathercoin was very carefully and intentionally marketed and released.
* Feathercoin was a good example of how a group of people made a shit tonne of money by planning the advertisement, promotion, and advancement of their alt from day 1.

Feathercoin could never succeed because it was never intended to, it was never intended (IMO) to be a long term coin, it was alaways a short term money maker.

Why I think bitbar is better and is probably the best alt that's come out in a long time (at least until netcoin - though we'll see how that's released and handled).

* Bitbar has a solid design, based on POW and POS
* bitbar has a solid concept behind it, extreme scarcity/rarity and difficulty
* bitbar has a great name, that rides on the back of bitcoin, and even sounds "official" (this is more a psychological benefit, which does help in reality).
* bitbar has been relatively untouched by scammers, pump and dumpers, and the other trolls that frequent these boards. Bitbar has been steadily and slowly growing over time in the background. That's what a good alt does.

I wish I had more bitbar, and I wish I mined early on, I didn't, I missed out, but I still believe it will be a worthwhile long term alternative cryptocurrency. It's the only one that stands out from the 4 majors.

So let's talk about the network, it's still rising 1.1GH/s now, getting difficult to mine.

Look at your transaction here in the block explorer: http://btb.cryptocoinexplorer.com/chains

I've used bter before without issue.

I don't think Bter is to blame, I have also used them without issue. It's the network.. is it really this slow?
