Does anyone know a good resource that shows when altcoins will be placed on exchanges and when - like a coinschedule or ICO alert style resource with dates and times but for when the coins will be listed? coinmarketcap has their new coin lost but it doesn't give exact times or any lead-up. thanks, people who know more than me.

I am pretty sure that it all depends on the coin and what Bitcoin exchange it is. People tend to trade coins purchased from the ICO right when they purchase them by selling their ICO tokens for Bitcoin off the market since some Bitcoin exchanges take a long time to list a coin. I would usually expect to see a coin listed in an exchange within a week after the ICO finishes, then again it all depends.

Generally no one knows when a coin will hit an exchange until it is actually listed, therefore its impossible for anyone to say when it will happen...

Generally it depends on the exchanges. If it sparks a lot of interest and that the exchanges can profit from them, then it would be releaseed in the exchanges. But really, they still have some criteria to judge an altcoin and sometimes deny it because it seems like a scam. The most stringent here is poloniex, because they only have a few coins to trade compared to others.

Depends on a couple of main factors imo and they are:
A) the coin devs and how they are running their roadmap. Some coins may come out directly after ICO sales as they have exchanges lined up, some may come out anywhere from a few days all the way up to what IOTA just did which was just over 2 years iirc.
B) the exchanges themselves have certain requirements ie popularity, trade amount, and in general the quality of the coin. Bittrex and Polo are more stingy when it comes to listing coins whereas a smaller site might take on a lesser coin at the moment because they need revenue.

Go to marketcap you can see the altcoins progress in that site you can see what exchanger it is available and you can check the price the information etc almost all of the new coins takes time to be in a exchanges some of them takes years or months before it will be available in exchanges.

When the dev decided their coin is ready for mainnet release, then the exchange notify them of adding.

A coin hits the exchanges when it's developers find it ready to hit the exchanges after finishing up with all needs and developments for the coin. Usually the devs request the exchange to add the coin and I'm not exactly sure on what basis the exchanges accept or reject adding the coin.

It is hard to say that when the coin will hit the market. Im guessing it goes into it once the pre-sale phase has eded or after the coins have achieved a specific amount of USD in their organisation.
Even the founder of coins and company will announce the coin on exchanger news in their official social media or websites.

Just do your own research, hit a lot of pages and read, try and test. You will find it all if you dig deep enough.

Based on your experience, when do you think it will be the best moment for a new coin to hit the exchanges?

some exchanges have lists which you can vote on to help them decide which coins to add to their exchange, like c-cex, novaexchange,... smaller ones like these. you can check their lists to see which one is on top and that will be added soon.
other bigger coins sometimes go behind the curtains and pay the bigger exchanges such as poloniex to get their coins listed. and generally you can see this on their threads when they announce it.

Its all depend on the developers and the owner of the coin that what time they want to launch their coin. One of the main thing is that they will decide the date of the launch after all the development work of the coin is completed and they test all the things that everything is working fine because after launching the coin if some problem occur than it will be very bad for the reputation of that coin, so complete all the work first than they plan to launch that coin. And they are the only one who know the date of that launch.

I think it is a case by case situation. Most exchanges do not take money for listing new coins, but still the process of approving can take few weeks.
Also is there a demand ? is it a serious coin ? ... too many questions to be taken in consideration ......

I dont really know the answer here but in my humble opinion it could be the exchange that will decide with this. Now I got a new question and I hope someone can answer. Is there a coin that have been enlisted in an exchange just because of the amount of votes? I think this question connects with what the OP is asking.

Just do your own research, hit a lot of pages and read, try and test. You will find it all if you dig deep enough. Some of the Altcoins feature their own exchange so they can add their coin right when the ICO finishes. An easy route for people to get their coin listed in an exchange is just paying for their coin to get listed in there. YoBit needed about .1 BTC, I am not so sure how much they ask for now. Also there's a bunch of exchanges that have a chatroom and asking for the coin to get listed is an easy process as well.

Yes, nobody will reply you when a new coin will appear on exchanges after it's release. Everything depends from the exchange's heads only they take such decisions. YoBit exchange is well known for collecting altcoins, there you can find as new released as well known.

For Poloniex this is once a year, maybe less. No, I'am kidding ! But yeah, they are rather conservative to new coins. Bittrex on the other hand is much more open, so it comes more often. But in both cases you never know except if the person that arranged the listing, if there is an arrangement and the decision does not come directly from Bittrex, tells it publicly.

It's a good thinking. If someone set up a web site like you said, it will reach the height of coinmarketcap.com It also will help people save time to search such information.
