The claims about the police raid last month were made in the Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano.

Your correlation from this article (people within the church having a gay orgy) to "proof that religion is fake" is not only nonsensical, it's not rooted in any logic.

The Catholic church needs to either toss these people out of the church, swiftly, if they believe that their acts are a sin. Usually the Catholic church sweeps this kind of bad press into a back closet to never be discussed again.

The Catholic church is one application, one interpretation of Christianity. And there's no shortage of examples of how this human interpretation of something that is beyond human can suffer from human tendencies. The idea that everyone must attend a place of worship once a week is one simple example. Their long rooted history in ignoring science is a better example. But none of these examples mean that religion isn't real.

I do not see any confrontation between the government and the Church. On the contrary, they play on the same team. And the government and the Church are interested in the obedience of the people. For this reason, most of the sexual scandals associated with priests was ignored by the government.

Maybe not as retrograde but still conservative enough when compared to other Western states. It's probably because the neighbors complained of the suspicious behavior that the police came. I reread the article (the page made it look like the news was shorter when there was more below). It seems they'll be charged for the drugs found in the flat. Ridiculous that it was owned by a Vatican office, meaning it's the churchgoers' property.

There was no mention of minors though. I sure hope there are none involved, that would be horrible for the teens.
