Thomas Lee, the chief equity strategist at JP Morgan Chase & Co., has gone on record twice in the past couple of months, saying that he believes that the S&P 500 will trade "much higher" by the end of 2008. How high? Lee is sticking to a target of 1,450 for the S&P 500, which would be about a 13% gain from today's levels.

Its not actually a breaking news but its just an another speculation on bitcoins price on next 5 years. If it would happen then it would be a great thing for us bitcoin users specially to those who hold of for long term but this thing isnt guaranteed since we know prices might pump or dump on bitcoins ecosystem and no strategist would ever can predict the price on ahead of us.

That prediction might be too much too soon, and as much as I want the price to reach that level, that seems to me to be a very bold prediction. Gold took a while to reach its market value of 7 trillion dollars, and bitcoin might take a while to even make $500 billion. But it's worth finding out as the years lead us closer to that estimate.

I agree, the prediction is to good to be true but looking back years ago no one knows bitcoin will rich $3,000 from being just cents this is very possible to happen but 5 years is just short period and we can never be sure what will happen the next few years with bitcoin.

I believe so. The demand for bitcoin and crypto-currencies is growing and that fact that bitcoin is limited by 21 milions makes people to save it with the expectation of the higher price. The situation looks like that: people are collecting bitcoins and bitcoin is actually circulating between people who don't keep it, but the amount of kept bitcoins are growing, that fact is making the value of circulating bitcoins smaller and smaller. people want bitcoin and the demand makes the price to grow. The next top point is going to be 4000$ which, by my opinion, we will see this year already.

This is great news, and i think the bitcoin price will increase highly during this few coming years, may be it will reach even more than $55k in the next 5 years. If we check the history of Bitcoin's price since 2010 till now we can understand this prediction easily.

The main shift in investors attitude imo is a move out of gold, and into silver and bitcoin. Obviously gold is still going to be a big part of the financial system but there are probably more silver supporters, and bitcoin adoption is obviously skyrocketing.

As the market cap gradually shifts in bitcoin's favour, so will the price.

Don't forget that every single halving thus far have proved to be the killer of bear markets. I don't expect the 2020 halving to be any less than this, $55000 seems crazy now but could well be the price of each bitcoin by 2022. Plenty of time, 5 years.

Yes good point. No can predict the market. What by then a war broke out between South Korea and the North or a zombie apocalypse started or something? That will be a big blow on the world economy and I am sure no asset is safe, including Bitcoin.

It might be hard to believe for our bitcoin community as the price is ridiculously high. But the thing is bitcoin community and market cap is very less right now. Bitcoin community being a size of 5 million or less (less than 0.1% of world population). There is huge market available outside. With countries making bitcoin legal and many retailers and merchants accepting bitcoin. Bitcoin will become worldwide phenomenon. Users may rise exponentially. Price will rise with the same pace. $55,000 is possible.

Let us assume that all of the countries will legalize bitcoin in the next few years and as you expect the price will continue to rise exponentially ,but what makes you think that it will attract new people who are yet to start using bitcoin if the price is really high ,i am sure people would not invest in bitcoin for such a high price to use it to purchase goods in the local market.

I would not blindly trust such news. Of course I like this prospect, but people are always inclined to believe in what is beneficial to him and not to look around. This can have fatal consequences. Whales may deliberately provoke such rumors in order to maintain a steady demand for bitcoins and sell their stocks.

the words for bitcoin will cannibalizing gold seem pretty extreme for me and i personally consider prediction just only a prediction no more or no less but to proof that it took more time however maybe in the future we will see new trend that most of gold investor will considers bitcoin as the investment or more likely will choose digital currency as the main investment rather than physical investment such as gold so if this is really happened i think surpassing $20k is not impossible for bitcoin

whenever i see a new like this, it just makes me mad. because i remember all these years that when price was still low and nobody though it can go even above $1000 i was saying 10K is big but possible. but now that it has gone above everyone's expectations then all those naysayers are now saying yes to 55K! and i am still saying the same thing. 55K is big, hard but possible.

He called for a 300k price in 18 months with a nice graph and a lot of arguments.

I'm pretty sure that if you take a few trading graphs, scale them,delete the bad parts and then draw the lines a bit more "accurate" you will hit 1 trillion in 20 years.
