Many factors not just aesthetic ones. In cryto it's more of the overall project that they become successful. We can also include the design of the product of a certain project but I would go for the business model instead of this one and also prioritize the team, value of the idea and the support of the community.

Definitely it's important, at least its important to me. Before I'm doing some research about new potential project to invest in, I'm first checking their website - how is design looking and how much effort they put in making their website and other official documents. I don't really believe that projects with poor marketing and design ideas can make it to market leaders, and we can also see that from current technology giants how much money they are putting in well thought design and marketing ideas. So yeah, design is definitely one of the most important aspects of every project.
