Presale options might be appealing too, but the project must be real, robust and solid.

I think that ICOs are the easiest way to make huge profits but also huge losses. You have to spend a lot of time analyzing a ICO before put some money in it. There are a lot of ICOs and also the "good" ones maybe might have a project that is good but not realizable for some reasons...
Personally I spend a little % of my crypto portfolio in ICO's....
