I would like to issue a warning to all users about the Bittrex.com exchange.

They lock accounts and demand enhanced ID verification for no apparent reason

Take action today (withdraw all funds) or be faced with the selfie ID procedure without warning

I am facing this situation for <1 BTC account balance

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

How much bitcoin do you have in there ?
As far as i know,if your account have an assets more than 1000$ you need to do a verification, but i guess it might be not your problem? What is the problem ? All you need to do is verification right ? I dont have problem with that, might be for the sake of their investor because a lot of problem and hack happened that's why they did it.and i think bittrex more safer than other exchanger it's good they locked it and asked you verification.how about other exchanger ? They locked your account without asked anything from you(permanent lock) which one is better ?

And yeah a lot of problem happened recently in every exchanger

Exchanges sometimes mention that they have the right to ask about documents when they want , yes it sucks but this is how things go
anyways at least their support is kinda good , your problem should be solved in short time if you send your ID
bittrex isn't perfect , but at this time it's the best exchange site

Hi,
Unfortunately I do not see anywhere on their site mentioning the 1000$ limit that you mention

All I see is:
https://support.bittrex.com/hc/en-us/articles/215282838-Frequently-asked-questions-about-account-verification
https://support.bittrex.com/hc/en-us/articles/231701788-Verification-Withdraw-Limits-and-Troubleshooting

My account balance is < 1 BTC

You have been warned !!

This is exactly what happened:

Account had 0 balance
I deposit < 1 BTC
I can not make any transaction, account locked
I successfully complete basic+phone authentication which according to their policy allows 3 BTC withdrawal /per day
But this is not enough for them, I have to go through full ID verification (enhanced verification they call it)

There was no warning, no indication, before the deposit of funds, about the account being locked
So what guarantee do I have that the "locked status" actually existed before my deposit? None ...

That is shady, very shady behavior

Attention all users of Bittrex. You will be soon faced with mandatory full ID verification, without any warning !!
Even for ridiculous amounts of BTC !!
Take appropriate action today !!

Have you tried joining their Slack and speaking to their staff instead of just spreading FUD here. I'm sure they have a valid reason to ask for I.D. verification. They are U.S. based so they have to follow A.M.L. regulations etc.

(a) You are accusing me of spreading FUD about Bittrex ?
(b) You are implying that US businesses are more compliant than businesses operating in other parts of the world ?

You either work for Bittrex, or for the US goverment  Cheesy

Just contact them on Slack. They are very helpful and I'm sure they have a valid reason to ask for verification. Usually exchanges have an automated system that flags transactions due to various reasons.

I am not saying that U.S. businesses are more compliant but they have stricter laws and regulations compared to other countries.

I think he's talking about the altcoin KomodoAny decentralised exchange is great IMO, but it's always going to be a struggle for them to get enough volume, especially when they're such a new concept to traders.

This appears to be FUD.  I withdrew about 1 BTC worth of an altcoin from my unverified account a couple of days ago and it happened within a few minutes.  No problems at all.

While you're probably genuine about your problem, you need to calm down and approach the situation neutrally.  This is not a scam accusation, it's a shady activity accusation, and even then you should be trying to talk with Bittrex staff first.  Maybe you've done something which they find suspicious.

I think it's not FUD,because one of my friend experieced same problem like him and i am not only him and my friend had a problem similiar to this.it's very simple for my friend to fix this problem, sent your document and then follow up.after two or three they will give you an answer it's accepted or rejected.

But,somebody ever made a thread like this and when he completed what they want, they're freezing his account because he's from iran or mesir or something like that.it's not scam activity but it's more likely shady activity.

And about 1000$ assets and more in account then you need to do a verification, how about go to setting and find verification ? I found it there back then

If they have an issue with users holding over $1000 in their exchange, they should ask for verification first only rather than locking accounts and asking users to submit proof. They don't respond quickly to tickets and it's almost like a threat for users who have over $1000 in their exchange to wait until their verification is complete. Liqui has no proof whatsover and where is bittrex considered secure?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2019756 (users complaining about unauthorized logins to their account). Bittrex has been many times exposed to such hacks.

Bittrex are quite responsible in that they automatically make you verify all withdrawals with your email.

The problem is that people can still trade with your funds for pump and dumps unless you enable 2FA.  That was done on Poloniex a lot, and for all we know that could be Poloniex's fault.

I think it's not FUD,because one of my friend experieced same problem like him and i am not only him and my friend had a problem similiar to this.
But you're still talking about Bittrex forcing people to go through verification or not handling people's login data well enough, rather than actual scams.

This is not about Bittrex scamming anyone.  There is no evidence of that.  So it's FUD to post it in Scam Accusations and pretend that Bittrex is suddenly unsafe.

Scam or not, shady or not, who cares how to call it

Its FUD to some people, until it happens to them. Then it gets quite realistic

The fact is that they let me deposit funds (<1 BTC) in a disabled account with zero (0) balance, without any warning about the disabled status, and now they are asking for full ID verification (passport + selfie)

At the same time they allow completely unverified accounts withdraw up to 1 BTC /per day as someone mentioned before in this thread

I say that is not right

I say beware

I'm sure that Bittrex has sufficient grounds on to request for this ID verification for you, it should just be a small hiccup for you, what is wrong for you to give ID verification for them? I would recommend trying to contact them via their twitter, facebook, email or slack. Still seems pretty suspicious for the site to allow you to deposit around 1 BTC and then just not allow you to use it or even deposit, maybe a word with them should fix it. You may have posted in the wrong section since Bittrex didn't scam you at all.

I think this thread is posted in the right section since it still concerns an accusation.
Its up to Bittrex to decide if this gets resolved or it becomes a fact (meaning I permanently lose access to funds).

Since this might not concern all users of Bittrex, I would like to inform that before this situation appeared my account had status "LEGACY" with withdrawal limit of 1337 BTC.
Now it is of status "BASIC VERIFIED" with withdrawal limit of 1337 BTC.

There is still NO INDICATION whatsoever that the account is disabled.
I can still freely deposit funds, no warning will ever appear about the disabled account status

Pretty scammy, shady, doggy, suspicious, foxy, tricky, sneaky or what ?  Embarrassed

Bittrex should warn unverified users about this. It's unacceptable to allow deposits without the user knowing their withdrawal policy. Looks like a trap to me.
