Retailers will only start accepting it as a means of payment once government institutions start allowing it to be a medium of exchange. When a country notifies its citizens and tells them that they can now buy, sell, receive money in bitcoin then it would be accepted by others.

The funny thing in that statement is not even most of the countries in the world has classified Bitcoin as an illegal kind of currency. Yes it has a bad reputation and all but it didn't stop it from growing. Look at Bitcoin ATMs it exist even inside the malls in America. Also some countries just issue the warning about how many bad people are attracted to these kinds of assets in which they want us to be extra cautious in finding out if it is a scam or not. On a retailer's perspective I think that if not even 2 out of my 10 customers going to the store are asking if we accept Bitcoin I won't change my system.

"Japan: No Bitcoin Tax, Thousands of Stores to Accept the Cryptocurrency" article published July, 5, 2017 https://edgylabs.com/2017/07/05/japan-no-bitcoin-tax-stores-accept-cryptocurrency/"AirRegi is a widely used, tablet-based point-of-sale app in Japan. Currently, around 260,000 establishments, stores, and commercial facilities use this proprietary app to accept payments from their clients." It makes sense that a transition to accept bitcoin would be underway for more US-based stores. I think when the cryptocurrencies are accepted to our society or like a big companies will start to accept and to adopt to the digital currency the other small retailers will start to accept it too. Besides bitcoins and digital currency itself are not yet introduced to the mainstream that much especially in other countries except america. They have already introduced bitcoins in the people and on how to use it. But aside from that no establishment yet are telling the people to use virtual currency now than sticking into a paper cash.

I think that this will happen soon, because taking bitcoins by sellers will lead to higher prices for goods because of high fees. For small purchases, this decision will be very unprofitable.

It makes sense that a transition to accept bitcoin would be underway for more US-based stores. They'll follow what's being asked by the customers because they want to earn. Yes, legalization is the main obstacle in way of practicing bitcoins in daily life. Retailers do fear accepting payments because of illegal nature of bitcoins. I heard some people are so afraid of using bitcoins that according to them, using bitcoins can put them behind the bars. What you said is 100% correct here in my country i had talk with some of my trader friends who know about bitcoin but they are saying that till we dont get any correct taxable and legal status we cannot start accepting Bitcoin if tomorrow it get illegal status then all traders will come under illegal activity problem. So it is very compulsory that Bitcoin get legal status then only it can flourish

I'm guessing you do not own a business. I only use bitcoin and it has led to lower prices. I expect to pay 1-3% less if I use bitcoin. The businesses I work with have seen huge profits because of bitcoin. The fees on credit card transactions are high compared to bitcoin fees not the other way round. Not to mention the many rules about who you can deal with, what you can buy, where you can shop, the ever-changing contract terms, the penalties, gotcha-fees, the risk to your identity, the 2-180 day wait for clearing the transaction... You get the idea.

I think bitcoin will become more acceptable if it is being publish by the trusted site and channel from the televesion and it is already known by everyone including the benefits and its advantages .i think this time many people will use it and accept it in diff.kinds of payment.
It is not as easy as creating an ad and think that is going to be enough, this takes time especially since we are talking about something completely new that people have never heard before, a new type of currency that they cannot touch, while you may think that the same is true for paypal that is not entirely correct since we can touch our dollar bills. You can't touch fiat money already in paypal though. I just hope people learn bitcoins easier and get informed on how it really works and what I can do for them. Bitcoins is totally something new, which is why people tend to be skeptical about it. But when they realize its potential and possible use cases then for sure it would be adopted fairly quick. What we need is actually educate the public. You can in fact do it, if you deposit cash in your bank account and then you send that to paypal then you were able to touch your money before it got in paypal and if you withdraw money from paypal to your bank account and then you withdraw it you can touch your money once again.

I don't really see this will happen but if the price of bitcoin will be more stable i can see that more retailers accept Bitcoin will happen. But as of now, i don't think casual people, whose not techy one , maybe will not consider this as a fancy thing, or maybe if bitcoin will be a trend a mainstream trend, for sure many people will bandwagon/fanatic of bitcoin, in that time i think more retailers will accept bitcoin.

we do not need more retailers to accept bitcoin when the number of bitcoin users is still very small. What we need is that more and more people will get into bitcoin and use it as an investment first. Then, retailers can open a store which accepts bitcoi to attract them.
Indeed. What we need right now is the high demand of the bitcoin users. If the government will see the huge population of the users they will make an ordinance about it and when the legislative and the president signed up for this then that will be the time they implemented it to the merchants. Japan is a very good example to this, they have hundreds of merchants as well as bitcoin is legal here.

When we demand it rather than constantly asking each other. If everyone in this thread wrote to Amazon it might happen today.
Will they really do it with just votes? Considering the risk that it will take? I read one of your comment about you working for a business which could transact thru bitcoin but still Amazon is a large company with so much to deal with. If bitcoin will be added to the payment option, will this really make them profit or could this lead for them to be bankrupt and suddenly close. Maybe they just don't want to make that bigger step and just trying to be safe for now. Sorry I am pessimistic with this.

I think that for many sellers it will be unprofitable. Commission fees for fees are too high for small items and because of this, sellers can go to a loss or they will have to significantly increase the price, which will also scare off some buyers.

The one the customers pays when they buy the product and then when you collect the payment from the multiple addresses used for payments. For things that are sold under 20$ very merchant will go with the credit card. As for the rules....you're forgetting that there is one rule . the customer is always right. So as long as the customer prefers something, the seller will have to bow down. Of course segwit might solve a few problems but we still have to see it fully implemented and in use.

This is what I really wait, bitcoin can be received directly in retailers. The easiest way for bitcoin to be received is that we have to introduce the bitcoin system to the retailer. During a bitcoin seminar, we can invite them to attend.

It is possible for developed countries to know their average citizen is already familiar with bitcoin, so they easily receive payments with bitcoin.sedangkan countries, for example in my country people who know bitcoin maybe only about say 20%, and for bitcoin transactions may be only in the city While in the small town town bitcoin does not apply at all as a means of exchange of money.
Yes, in big cities, it is easy to push the use of bitcoins for common purpose because people are mostly quite modern and educated in cities whereas in towns, first we need to work hard to spread knowledge about bitcoins. The markets and businesses that have started bitcoins as payments are all from developed countries.

This is not surprising, bitcoin and gambling are a perfect combination, believe me casinos will like to accept players without having to go through the KYC but since they use fiat they need to obey the law, but when it comes to bitcoin they can accept anyone as long as you have some BTC so players and casinos benefit from bitcoin.
