Hordfork is the reason of this big dump and this 1st august may be change the face of bitcoin world and coin.
You should wait now and to see market on 25 to 29 july  if thr price get dump then don't buy and if price has not affected at large then sure buy some bitcoin and buy some bitcoins after 1st august.

Its normal nothing really to worry about. If you are planning to buy this would be the perfect time, each time it drops buy little and little. The reason is very obvious people are confused and sacred of August 1st.they just don't know what's going to happen and they are running here and there and selling it in panic, that has led to more supply than demand and that's why the fall. Till august 1st the fall will continue, then Boom Boom rise.

There are a few altcoins that will stay strong as they have large followings but the ones with small followings will just collapse back to a few satoshis where they came from. There were lots of pump and dumps happening in may/june and this is a major correction for the whole market.

Perhaps I should say welcome back to planet earth, because you seem oblivious of how Bitcoin  have pioneered a revolution in the financial sector that ICOs could now so easily raise hundreds of millions of dollars all too soon they're up for grabs regardless they're springing up like mushroom everyday.
                                                                      
Now a landmark event is in view for Bitcoin and evidently the steam is turned down as most bitcoiners are marking time and evidently you can see the spiral effect on the altcoins. If Bitcoin were half as useless as you hinted, one would have expected money to flow into altcoins from Bitcoin, but what do we have - common heritage. Whatever affects Bitcoin goes to affect all.

Although the drop in btc price is normal as it keeps fluctuating all the year but this time it's fluctuating and going down more because of Aug 1. Most of the people are suspicious as to what would be the future of bitcoin. But one thing which is sure to happen that those who are selling it are going to regret and those who are buying it will make huge profits.

People are worrying about the split. I am not sure what the effect will be for split, but from what happened to ethereum before, it does not really do much on the price in a longer term.

I think the main cause of Bitcoin price to drop sharply is mainly due to the reason of panic selling by some investors, with all the rumors spreading online that a split is going to happen on august 1st, some investors that believed in it are cashing out their bitcoins into fiat money with the fear of their bitcoins becoming worthless should a split happen.

If the money is going from alt coins to bitcoin then the price would have increased for bitcoin ,so that is not the case,every coin came down and i think the only reason would be because of the BIP upgrade and people are panicking ,other than that there is no other reason for the current situation.

Another great opportunity to stack up before the fork. If it ever happens it will be a trade of a lifetime:
Step one: wait for the Jihancoin to appear and be pumped, because they won't leave it as it is and try to pump for sure.
Step two: sell Jihancoin and profit.
Hold original BTC and profit again.

To me, it's all a probability thing.  I am betting (I don't know anymore than anyone else here) that Bitcoin will likely get its scaling problems resolved by August 1 (or be very convincing that a good solution is coming really soon).  If that is so, BTC prices will likely go up again, probably pretty quickly as confidence is restored.

Of course, if the developers and miners screw this all up, anything can happen (bad).

But there is so much money at stake in BTC remaining viable and with its high price that I believe sanity will prevail, and we'll be OK.

Buy (with funds you could afford to lose) at BTC under $2100.  I will as soon as I am in a city (soon, on vacation).

I couldn't agree with you the more, it's likely going to be back up again after August 1 and all the doomsayers are going to swallow back their words as this hasn't been th first time Bitcoin has gone through such turbulence.

Not a chance! Although drop in price of Bitcoin is imminient given the FUD in the air, however the situation is a whole lot different from 2013. Presently Bitcoin is having lot more stakeholders and investors that a dump to $150 - $200 is not feasible or imaginable. This is Bitcoin and not fiats or worthless altcoins in the hands of some opportunists, it takes demand and supply to move the price.

ah, the FUD, the panic sells, the shorters, all the annoyance is true if you look at the glass half empty. this is all a game to many who are trying to make more money from bitcoin. the games they play with the price and the scaling is just a toy that we gave them.
soon this game will end when we get SegWit activated and they will start playing a different game when there is a sharp green candle seen on the charts when price shoots up just because everyone finally figures out the mistakes they have made to fall for the game.

I thunk the bitcoin price will continue falling down and it will rest below 1500$ at the end of this week. But after August 1 it may take a sudden jerk orelse it may also get much low. We can wait and watch what happens after August 1. If you want to purchase bitcoins, you can wait a little more untill the price is dropped more and then you can purchase it when the price is quite low. According to me, purchasing bitcoin in some days will surely be profitable.

yes my humble opinion about your post is that if you bought bitcoins then you did a good job because bitcoin is now the most wanted currency and people wants to buy bitcoin but the availability of bitcoin is short now a days you are so lucky if you bought bitcoin and you have bitcoin with you now you can keep your bitcoin save till the most high price

I guess until august 1 the bitcoin price will continue to go down because i guess a lot of investor is afraid to take the risk in august so they are selling there bitcoins and the holders is getting low that cause the bitcoin market value to continue to go down but also i also predict thay the bitcoin price will pump in august.
