Hi, newbie here and I'd really appreciate any answers.

I've been reading like mad and just have some fundamental questions:
1) What exchange do you use? On that exchange, do you buy with market or limit orders?
2) What wallet do you use? I am interested in a paper wallet that can hold multiple kinds of coins, not just bitcoin.

And I think that's about it. Thanks!

Bitcoins are a modern equivalent of cash and, every day, another merchant starts accepting them as payment. We know how they are generated and how a bitcoin transaction works, but how are they stored? We store fiat cash in a physical wallet, and bitcoin works in a similar way, except it's normally digital.Bitcoin wallets store the private keys that you need to access a bitcoin address and spend your funds. They come in different forms, designed for different types of device. You can even use paper storage to avoid having them on a computer at all. Of course, it is very important to secure and back up your bitcoin wallet.

1). I used my local exchange to convert btc for fiat or vise versa. I buy directly with current market, I'm not really active to trading bitcoin, just buy/sell it for spending purpose.

I usually trading with altcoin and I comfortable with arbitrage, so I used exchange which can use to arbitrage. For example: bittrex, poloniex.

2). I used various wallet, I separate the usage of wallet I used to be: for spending, trading/business purpose and storing. I used mobile wallet for spending, desktop wallet for trading/business purpose and paper wallet for storing.
Paper wallet which can hold multiple coins sounds good idea.

1. I mostly do altcoin day trading so poloniex and bittrex are my favorites. I buy with limit orders rather than just buying off from the current sell order.

2. I am using electrum for bitcoin and jaxx to store altcoins like eth, ltc and etc. You can also use jaxx if you want to store multiple kinds of coins in one wallet. Jaxx also give you private key of your addresses.

1) What exchange do you use? On that exchange, do you buy with market or limit orders?
= bittrex, poloniex, novaexchange, coinexchange and other exchanger (reason,it's really hard to trust all of our money in a single exchange because a lot of issue happened and many people hardly get their money back) buy using market or limit it depends on situation and condition, and many people likely use limit as their orders

2) What wallet do you use? I am interested in a paper wallet that can hold multiple kinds of coins, not just bitcoin.
= just keep it in exchange if you want to hold multiple coin,if you use an offline wallet it's really dangerous and not safe for your bitcoin.problem happened because many people try to download multiple account and on it there's an attachment in thr wallet(viruses and malicious software)

Bitcoin Exchange is the online website to handle Bitcoin trading, whereas Bitcoin wallet is the best service to store your Bitcoins in a secured manner. Till now, I didn't use any wallets, but according to others opinion, Coinbase is the best one. Buying of bitcoins and using of wallets is simple. Find the best Bitcoin Exchange in the online and trade a currency for bitcoins. After that, store your bitcoins in your wallet. Bitcoin exchange is simple than other existing methods.

You should try using bittrex or poloniex . I am currently using yobit but i am gonna shift it to bittrex because yobit has more scam coins and its a great platform for people who pump and dump and i dont like that. So i am thinking to shift over to bittrex . My friends say not to keep all your money on a single exchange and thats absolutely true but i have only a few dollars right now and soon enough when i hold a substantial amount of bitcoins i will spread it over to other few exchanges. The wallet to use would be Mycelium as it gives you the ability to control your coins by the private key. It has the option to export the private key so that we can keep it a safer place.

You can choose bitstamp and kraken for bitcoin trading and poloniex & bittrex for altcoin trading. Talking about wallets that can hold multiple coins in one wallet than you should go with either jaxx or exodus.

If you want to just hold bitcoin for considerably long time than you should either use paper wallet printed from offline printer and computer or you should buy hardware wallets like trezor, ledger..

Agreed but there is difference between mobile wallet and online wallets? What is the difference? Difference is that both are connected to the internet which is called online wallets. So when you are using a mobile wallets then this is an application of any online websites of wallet. So everyone online wallet websites are having application like bittrex and poloniex.

Just avoid poloniex. I have lost 3.5BTC on their platform, and their support is not answering since 2 months now.

Try bittrex or something like that.

Poloniex and Bittrex for me. So far I don't have issue with them. The best for me.

Electrum wallet for my bitcoin trading. Fast and Lightweight. Exodus wallet for holding multiple coins.

1) Been using local exchange for withdrawing purposes only. If we are to talk about trading platforms, Im using Poloniex. My buying behaviour depends on what I feel to do.

2) Been using desktop wallet for long time now for bitcoin specifically, Electrum. Just take minute to install and easy to used. Sometimes Im using local wallet just for service purposes only as no doubt they have the best feature when using bitcoin in various ways. For altcoins storage, Im downloading their official client available at their respective website. If not available, then risking some on exchange wallet.

I use 4-5 exchanges for trading. My primary exchange is BTC-e, due to the low fees and lack of mandatory ID verification. Localbitcoins is another exchange which I'd recommend, especially to the new users. And limit orders are always better than market orders. Just need to be patient, and you can get your coins at least 2% to 3% cheaper.

Hi there!

As an advice, you should use more than one exchanges and I would suggest Poloniex, Bittrex, Kraken and Bitfinex. I use them personally and I did not had any issues from them.

I do Limit orders if I see that the price can still go down to the best price to buy and I do Market if the current price Price shows the best for me to buy. Price charts would be very helpful and of course you need to back it with technical and fundamental analysis.

For the paper wallet, I would suggest https://walletgenerator.net/. They have security checklist recommendation so make sure to follow them such as:

"download the website from Github and open the index.html file directly from your computer" and "generate your random wallet offline".

I will send you a private message and I hope you would find the time to read it.

Looking forward to hear from you soon!

We are here to give you all the latest from the Cryptocurrency space!

I think myetherwallet is very popular nowadays but be sure you will take care of your private key and double check the site you will be getting in due to lots of phishing attempt now and you might lose your money if you are careless. Most of the ICOs now are under Ethereum platform and with this it will surely make ethereum valuable in the future. When I actively trade, I love to traded in bittrex since the have most of the legitimate coins and I have a good experience their in terms of profitability.

You can use the coins.ph as a bitcoin wallet. Coins.ph is a wallet in where your bitcoin is not stagnant but your bitcoin can grow bigger in a short period of tine and in a very simple way that you do.

For beginners I always suggest Livecoin for trading needs. This provides the ease of understanding as well gives the ease of making buy and sell orders compared to the top exchange websites. Once the beginner is good enough with this, can move on towards the popular trading websites which has good trading volume.

Thanks!
I use Bittrex, buy with market or limit orders depends on how greedy I am. I also use Electrum wallet, its fee is smaller than before now.

That's true mate, everyday in different nations another merchants accepting bitcoin as payment.  And about yourr question I am using bittrex.Com as my trading platform and storing my bitcoins I used Electrum wallet.

1) Exchanges. If you want to make it as easy as possible, then go to buy/sell and buy Bitcoins directly from the exchange. For a beginner I would advise you to try CEX.io first.
2) Wallets. You can find all the top wallets in any corresponding article if google it. As far as I know jaxx wallet allows for storing different cryptos.

Use exodus for a wallet because it is a multi-currency supported and use bittrex as an exchange because it is the best for me so far because i don't like poloniex because of its hack issues so i want to be safer so i just use bittrex over poloniex and i need multi-currency supported wallet so i can store a lot of cryptocurrency in one wallet and that is what exodus provide for us.

You can use the coins.ph as a bitcoin wallet. Coins.ph is a wallet in where your bitcoin is not stagnant but your bitcoin can grow bigger in a short period of tine and in a very simple way that you do.
I wouldn't trust any wallet or guaranteed growth like that from the philippines, just saying.

I've come to distrust exchanges and won't be using them until they get regulated.  I have used shapeshift, and they're pretty solid, with no need to keep your coins there.  Use polo and the rest at your own risk.

I use mycelium for a wallet and it's great.  I've tried others,  but that's the one I've stuck with.

If you store Bitcoin in tiny amount that's okay to use xapo or blockchain.info, but I'm prefer to use wallet that I have access to the private key especially for huge amount like electrum wallet. For exchange I use Bittrex and sometimes poloniex.

Yup for big amount Electrum is the best wallet, but you should keep your key in safe place. You miss this you will lose your bitcoins. And for exchanging Bittrex is the best site. Poloniex I never tried, but I heard the much bad news when segwit2x happens. So I stick with Bittrex.

Thanks!

I use bittrex for trading altcoins with Btc because it has the highest trade volume and if you have patience and watch it live you could catch some fish.
Regarding the wallet I use coinomi and jaxx no specific reason.

I use bittrex and some other exchanger sites, I mostly use limit orders. For the wallet that I use to save a lot of coin I prefer the wallet provided by the site exchanger.

Thanks!
For me I use poloniex exchange and bittrex exchange for trading crypto currency because there are good and I like there features. On both of the exchange you can set your take profit and stop lose orders especially the margin trading feature. I don't use paper wallet account so I can't recommend anyone for you op.

1 if bitcoin pair fiat money iam use local exchanger my country
if altcoin, iam use bittrex, liqui, poloniex,c-cex and more
2 bitcoin wallet iam use electrum, altcoin wallet ussualy iam use official wallet , if use support much coin and safe you can use trezor
I will also agree with your recommendations. Bittrex and poloneix are two famous exchanges and a large portion of the traders are using these exchanges for the trading. As far as the wallet is concerned, electrum is the only choice. Electrum is not easy to use but also not easy to be hacked.

Electrum is not hard use buddy. Simply you need to have your wallet seed safely and password. I use personally blockchain.info as a wallet and to exchange it for Fiat. I use localbitcoins. Blockchain seems turns down the fees to 0.00022 btc as a fees and in LBC I could more trusted traders easily.

Electrum is really easy to use from my experience. I don't know why I was using blockchain for so long, but I was using it for a pretty long time and still use it for small exchanges online, but after I swapped to electrum, I didn't find any issues and it was pretty simple. I agree with the difficulty of it being hacked, which is a part of the reason why I personallly switched. OP, use electrum right off the bat. I realize I made a mistake with blockchain down the road.

This area is up for grabs! PM me if you're interested.

Yes , as someone on this thread said, if you wanna trade only bitcoin and main cryptos, then you should use Bitstamp or kraken for this purpose. If you wanna do altcoin trading then poloniex or bittrex are the best options.
By the way, holding bitcoins depends on you, if you are plaining to hold it for long time, then buy an offline wallet... if you wanna have it for buying purposes or exchanges then use blockchain, xapo, uphold, jaxx, etc.

There is no one paper wallet. For every cryptocurrency, you'll require a different software from which you can then produce private keys that you can print along with the public address that you should store in vaults. Then you should bury these vaults in the ground and pour concrete over them.

Just kidding:)

But the good news is that since many tokens are based on the Ethereum ERC20 token specs, you can print paper wallets for these tokens from one wallet app, e.g. myetherwallet.

  - I most often used Bittrex exchange, hbtc and Livecoin and sometimes Etherdelta if I don't a choice to sell my coins.
Then, yes I also bought a coins in the exchange that I used too and limiting myself also on buying it of course.

2) What wallet do you use? I am interested in a paper wallet that can hold multiple kinds of coins, not just bitcoin.

  - If I am holding a bitcoin I used Electrum as a light wallet and Multibit.hd, then in terms of storing altcoins I used myetherwallet which is
called MEW or exodus wallet then for the mobile coinomi apps.

1. I use the exchange based on my many coins. because I will calculate the amount of profit I will get. I do not really understand about trading. I just sell and buy at a certain price. buy when the price is cheap and resell it when the price goes back up.
2. I use my wallet online because for me it is easy to use anywhere. so it can do transactions anywhere

I mostly use bittrex exchange for trade and use coinbase wallet. I think bittrex is the best exchange for trade because bitrtrex is much secured and their support is response faster then others exchanges. Also their account verification system is very reliable.  It has a many coin and most of them stable coin.
Nowadays myether wallet is becoming popular I but mostly use coinbase.

What are you smoking? Bittrex has thousands and thousands of complaints to dig through regarding their pending account verification, and their support is amongst the slowest of all the major exchanges.

And then I haven't even mentioned the thousands of blocked accounts of long term accounts, often referred to as legacy accounts. Browse through this forum to understand how severe the problems actually are.

I very much doubt that you are actually using Bittrex, or you managed to register your account with fake details to walk yourself through the first account verification level. That works as long as they don't ask for your ID and such.

They at some point will change their policies and force everyone to go through ID and selfie verification combined with a scan of your utility bill.
